ABOUT THE SURF CAMP

LOCATION AND SURF CONDITIONS

Ericeira is a world-class destination for surfing and has been awarded as a World Surfing Reserve in 2011, and it was no accident. In our beaches in a length of about 10km some of the best waves in the world for surfing can be found.

Thus one of the best activities to do in Ericeira is surfing. Its long sandy beaches are perfect for beginners as well as the perfect waves that roll over rocky bottoms are ideal for those who have surfed before and want to get the most out of Ericeira's waves.

Amar offers full Surf Camp packs for every surfing levels. Our certified school is based at the camp and the lessons will take place in the world class point break of Ribeira d'Ilhas or the popular beach break of São Julião. Our surf lessons have a maximum of 16 people per lesson and 6 people per instructor. All lessons are coordinated by a licensed local surfer, and supported by a team of well trained and experienced instructors. We love to see our guests wandering around barefooted, sharing meals and stories in the garden, chilling out in the sun deck or enjoying a drink while watching the sunset.

ACCOMMODATION TYPES

 The concept of the hostel is to create an environment which breathes the sea breeze, contacts directly with nature, worships the sun, the beach, and the essence of surfing spirit, whilst remaining authentic to the unique traditions of Ericiera village. Decorating the buiding's interitor are original decor pieces, art exhibitions by local artists and icons of the most iconic period's of surf history.

The hostel has private rooms available for double, triple and quadruple occupancy as well as dormitories for up to 6 people.

 The spacious layout of the house and garden will enable you to find the ideal spot to find the tranquility you need to relax, while the common areas like the bar, living room and communal kitchen are ideal for socializing with our guests from all over the world.

CATERING

Amar has an exclusive coffee bar where you can have a delicious breakfast, taste our exclusive assortment of coffees, have a healthy meal, or just toast a drink to a great time in Ericeira.

The coffee bar has free wi-fi, TV with a lot of channels and it is also the place where events such as concerts, cinema sessions or your Surf Camp photo slideshow take place.

Holidays are generally short and even when they aren't they feel short. That's why we don't want you to waste your time. We have activities nearly every day which can vary along the year.

Typically you will be welcome to join a relaxing and recharging yoga session, a typical portuguese barbecue in the evening, trips to the UNESCO world heritage hill of Sintra, sunset massage sessions in the garden or watch how good you are doing in surfing in our friday surf session photo slide show.

JOURNEY

Ways to get to the camp

To reach us from Lisbon International Airport you can either take a taxi (or metro) from the airport to Lisbon's Campo Grande bus terminal and then take the direct bus to Ericeira. Amar also offer a transfer service from the airport straight to Ericeira.

If you are coming by bus from Lisbon drop at the last stop before the bus terminal and you will see us right in front. If you make it all the way to the bus terminal, just exit the terminal, turn left and walk back 400m and we will be welcoming you.

We are located at the main entrance to the village's centre (search for the signs “Centro”, “Correios” and “Mercado”).
