Surf School
Well located on the bay of Peniche, Baía de Peniche Bodyboard/Surf School combines all the fundamental skills in advanced teaching to the incitation and training of both surfing and bodyboarding. For that we have at your disposal a team of professionals acreditated by the Portuguese Surf Association. Furthermore, all teachers are educated surf life safers.

We provide packages for beginners, intermediates and advanced students. We also have competition training and surf guides that will take you to the best spots in the Peniche area. As soon as you contact us we can make sure that we will find the most suitable teaching for you. All our lessons with a maximum of 6 students per teacher will be either at the bay of Peniche or at a spot close by.

Everything you need you’ll find here. Material and equipment is included in your lessons. transportation and if you need accommodation our school also has great packages of lessons and lodging. We arrange everything for you to spend some great days surfing and envolved in the purest surf environment. Come on, you will find it a blast!

ACCOMODATION

---

Our surfcamp is located in Casais do Baleal - Peniche, Portugal - a small village where is part of the locals life. Close to the beaches, Baleal island and Ferrel, you’ll find everything from bakeries to pharmacies.

At your disposal there are three kinds of accommodation in our SurfHouse. Depending on your wishes you can choose a more budgety dorm-rooms for maximally six people to a whole private apartment. Since you share the same roof with other travellers from countries all over the world it is a great way to meet new people, make friends and to exchange exciting stories. In case you have a group we can also prepare a room for you().

If you are looking for more privacy in case you are travelling with your girlfriend or familiy but you are still keen on meeting people during your vacation the private double-room in the SurfHouse would be your option.

Furthermore,

Accommodation includes access to all facilities of the camp (lounge area, outside patio, internet room, wash & dry area for wetsuits, outside showers, etc.). Sheets, pillows and blankets are provided. We recommend to bring your own towels.

SURF COURSE AND ACTIVITIES

SURFCOURSE DETAILS

---

Our surf courses are basically devided into three categories. We teach all beginners, intermediates and advanced surfers. Requirements and descriptions of the courses and its content can be found below.

Beginners
At this first stage as a beginner you will be introduced to the basic rules of surfing, how to transport the board out and in the water, the position to adopt on the board, how to paddle for a wave and how to stand on the board. This is the most important stage on learning to surf.

Another of the fundamental aspects of surf is knowing the sea, the currents, the types of waves and tides but also its dangers. It is also essential to become acquainted with the safety rules to avoid accidents. A good start is very important to your evolution. (*)

Intermediate
At this stage you must have some experience in the water. It is important to do a good take-off, know to paddle well to a wave and catch it easily.

At this level you will learn to drop waves on the green and learn the basic manoeuvre the bottom-turn. After this you will take on different manoeuvres like: the off-the-lip, cutback, floater, etc..

We will help you choose the appropriate board for this stage, your skills and stature. (*)

Advanced
This stage is destinated to surfers that catch waves on the green, do a consistent drop, turn both left and right (front hand and back hand) and have control over the board and the wave.

Modern surfing is all about the ability of the surfer to generate speed. How to produce that speed and in what part of the wave you can generate it are aspects to focus on. We will teach you to adapt your surf to the characteristics of the wave, exploring all it’s possibilities no matter if it is a reef break, point break or beach break.
Manoeuvres like floaters, snap and cut-back will be better when generated with more velocity. At this stage we also introduce you to new manoeuvres like barrels and aerials.

Trying to take advantage of the pocket area (where the wave is stronger and creates more speed) is very important. The goals at this level require a lot of training so it is absolutely necessary to videotape the student in order to correct any mistakes that may occur. (*)

(*) It is from utmost importance and a requirement that all students are confident swimmers and are able to swim at least 200m in the sea.

TRANSPORT

---

BY PLANE
If you are willing to come to Portugal by plane, the closest airport to fly to is Lisbon. It is about 90 minutes drive from Lisbon to Peniche. You can also fly to Faro which is about 240km north. For both destinations there are busses commuting that can take you here. Besides that, you can also rent cars at theairports. There are lots of Airlines flying to Portugal from nearly every country. Just check out the link to the right to find you flight!

BY BUS
From all major airports and cities there are busses going to Peniche. These busses are very modern and all equipped with air condition and wifi. The schedules can be found at the national bus company

BY CAR
In case you rent a car or come here with you own vehicle we will help you with the route.
