Zé Nuno has been surfing for the past 18 years and teaching for 10. A certified Portuguese Surfing Federation coach. Studied tourism management loves getting barreled and playing didjeridu. Originally from Porto where he first started teaching with Onda Pura Surf School, he has now surrendered to the charms of Aljezur and has been living here since 2009.
Owner & Surf Coach

Jeffrey was born in Canada in 1989. He moved to Aljezur in 1990 where he grew up and lives. He started to surf at age 15 and likes flying on waves and the barrels. Has worked on the beaches of Aljezur for four years as a certified Portuguese lifeguard. Jeffrey is also a Academy of Surfing Instructors surf coach, and has been giving classes for four years.

With Boa Onda Surf School you can combine surfing on beautiful beaches with sleeping comfortably. Our house located in Arrifana has a relaxed not to crowded atmosphere and with plenty of outside space

Arrifana Moments holiday house is located 10/15 min walk (1 min drive) to Arrifana beach and 5 min drive to Monte Clérigo beach. The house is settled within a 1180m2 plot. In the front you will find a green garden with palm trees and local medronho trees, and at the back a pine tree area with hammocks to relax and enjoy the sounds of nature…
The house can accommodate up to 10 people in 3 double rooms and 1 shared room (max 4 people). All rooms have private bathroom. We also offer the possibility to rent the whole house to groups or families.

SURF COURSE DETAILS

Boa Onda gives you the opportunity to learn how to surf/bodyboard safely and efficiently. Boost your skills with our experienced, certified coaches. Boa Onda surf school group classes are primarily in Monte Clérigo beach during high season (Jul, Aug, Sep) and in Arrifana beach outside of high season.

One day of surf/bodyboard class is 3 hours teaching divided into two sessions of 1.5 hours each. Between the sessions you have time for a snack on the beach or at the local beach restaurant. You might even be tempted to take a “siesta” enjoying the sound of the waves… There is also the option of 1/2 day which is 1 session of 1.5 hours (great for the kids).

- Take on the white water, learn how to stand up. (Beginner)
- Paddle out and correct those basic mistakes, you know how it goes; paddle, paddle, paddle. (Intermediate)
- Want to do your first “move”, learn how to read the wave. (Advanced)
- Improve your wave ridding.
- For all ages, genders and levels.
- Group or private classes.
- Appropriate equipment (softboards for beginners).
- Pick up in Aljezur area if needed.
- Small groups, guaranteed personal attention

Surf Rentals Algarve

If you would like to surf when you are in the Algarve but don’t have the chance to bring your board, Boa Onda surf school can solve that problem! We can sort you out you with all the equipment you need to catch some waves.

With a selection of boards all sizes and shapes (longboards, malibus, shortboards, softboards, bodyboards, SUP…), just tell us what you need. Suits are also available in all sizes including children. We will be more than happy to give you some tips on what spots to check so you can spend more time in the water and less time driving…
