Beginners Surf Lessons

Surfing is a great sport to be enjoyed by people of all ages and fitness levels. It is a great way to pick up a new sport or even just an excuse to get into the great outdoors. Beginner lessons take place in waist deep water so don’t worry if you aren’t confident in the water. Our Surf School is approved by the Irish Surfing Association, all lessons are fully insured and all instructors are qualified beach lifeguards.

- Adult €30 (3 lessons €85, 4 €110, 5 €130 on consecutive days). Groups of 7 and more €25pp.
- Kids €25 (from 8 to 16yrs inclusive). Groups of 16 and more €20pp.
- Lessons run at 10am and 2pm all year round. 5pm lesson available on request.
- All instruction and equipment provided.
- Transport to and from beach included.
- The lessons last for about 3 hours.
- Changing facilities, hot showers, and a hot drink after the session included.
- All you need is a towel and swimwear.
- We use 4/3mm suits in summer and 5/4/3mm suits in winter.

Improvers lessons
Improver surf lessons are aimed at progressive beginners who have had a few beginner surf lessons and would like to progress to the next stage. To make the most out of the lessons you would need to be able to catch a white water wave easily and have a reasonable pop up.

On the improver lessons we use mostly hard boards such as NSP and Circle One, but we also have a range of soft top/slick bottom boards such as Sunset Softboards.

Lessons daily at 10am and 2pm. Cost is €40pp with a max of 6 people. We also have improver surf weekends (scroll down).

- Lesson costs €40pp with a maximum of 6 people in a group;
- Lessons daily at 10am and 2pm (we need 2 people minimum);
- We can do other times if you have your own group of 4-6 people;
- Price includes all equipment, changing facilities, hot showers, transport to and from the beach;
- There are loads of different board you can try out so if you are thinking of buying a board it is an ideal way to try before you buy;
- We have the following boards available: NSP beginner boards 6’8, 7’2, 7’6, 7’10, 8’2, 8’6, epoxy fishes and funboards 6’4, 6’8, 6’10, 7’2, 7’6, 7’10;
- If you have your own board it is ok to use it on the lessons.

Improver Surf Weekends
Our improver surf weekends are aimed at progressive beginners are surfing reasonably regularly. To make the most out of the course you would need to catch waves regularly (even white water) and have a reasonable pop up. We have a range of hard boards to choose from but if you have your own board you can use it.

The course is aimed at taking you to a level beyond going straight in the white water. We have a surfboard test drive centre where you can try a range of different boards. At the start of the weekend we will assess each surfer and gear the course to a suitable level. We will focus on improver surfing techniques such as paddling, wave selection, take-off, and turning. The course also focuses on surf etiquette, which can be confusing to improver surfers going beyond the white water. We will have a video session if conditions are suitable.

The cost is €110pp for three surf sessions, one video session and one theory session. The theory session will focus on wind, wave and tide knowledge and surf/weather prediction

Bundoran offers a wide range of reef and beach options for all levels of surfers. For experienced surfers there are numerous reefs in the area that work on different stages of the tide. The surrounding area is great for exploration, ideally with a car. Most breaks in the immediate area of Bundoran are accessible by foot or bicycle. Buy an ordnance survey map no. 16.

The Surf Lodge is open to anyone - you do not have to stay with us to take lessons - and you do not have to surf  to stay with us.
The lodge is large enough for groups of 35 people and you can use all the facilities of the lodge. We can organize bbqs for your group or book you a table at a local restaurant for excellent group discounts.
No problem if your group is larger than 35 people - we can book self catering holiday homes for the rest of the group. Prices of 90EU pr.pers. for 2 nights and 2 surf lessons.
Bundoran Surf Co. canaccommodate all different types of groups - school or university groups, sports teams and clubs, or just a group of friends.

Other available group activities include archery, high ropes course, horseback riding, golf, cliff jumping, kayaking, sailing, walking and hiking. If you have a couple of non-surfers in your group or want help organizing an additional activity, please let us know in advance and we can book it for you.
Bundoran Surf Co. is also a great place for sports teams. We already had several rugby and football teams with us. You can organize morning team training at the local beach and surf in the afternoon, or we can organize mini competitions for the team.
There is also indoor football available and you can hire a local football field.

Accomodation

Bundoran Surf Lodge is ideally located close to the beaches and also to the town centre. All the rooms in the lodge are spacious and have hotel standard beds. All private rooms are en-suite. Many of the rooms offer views of the main beach. We also offer free internet access and wireless broadband.

You will find the lodge is a perfect place to chill out after surfing. There is a spacious lounge area with wide screen TV, DVD player and X-Box and movie library. Throughout the Lodge you will find a selection of surf art and photography by local and international artists. There is private parking at the back of the building and plenty of storage space for boards, and a drying room for wetsuits. Bundoran Surf Lodge is run by local surfers so you will be able to get all the details you need on where and when to surf in Bundoran.

The lodge has four double/twin rooms and two triple rooms, all en-suite. There are two bunk rooms that can sleep 4 and 6 people. The four bed dorm is en-suite and the six bed has its own private bathroom next door. Double, twin and triple rooms €25pps. Dorm room €20pps. Single supplement in private room €15 per night. Bed linen provided in all rooms. We do not provide towels so please bring your own. Towels available with deposit. All rates include continental breakfast.

The Surf Lodge is open to everybody – you don’t have to be surfing with us to stay!

There is a kitchen for guests to use, BBQ facilities, and free tea and coffee all day. We provide you with a healthy continental breakfast each morning to set you up for the day, with juice, cereals, toast, freshly brewed coffee and tea. Irish tourist board approved.

We have week long surf camps for people who really want to push their surfing to the next level. The camps run over 5-7 days and the exact programme will be determined by the surf conditions and abilities of the group. The surf camp is open to everyone, with a maximum of 8 surfers to each instructor. Surf camps run all year round so just us know your dates and we can check availability.

Suitable for beginners, progressive beginners and intermediate level surfers.

7 Day Surf Camp:
7 nights and 7 lessons:

Surf Lessons Only:
5 surf lessons €130 (Mon-Fri only). You don’t have to be staying with us to join the camp. Book in for surf lessons only. Lessons normally run at 10am.

If you are a group, we take the waterproof camera or video camera to the lessons and can upload photos of you on Facebook or on YouTube.

Extras: 10Eu for the hire of equipment and transportation to and from the beach in the afternoon
