ABOUT THE SURF CAMP

LOCATION AND SURF CONDITIONS

---

Our beach-side camp is situated right at the Atlantic ocean in the dunes of the Ofir nature park - about 30mins north of Porto.

Our home beach, right in front of our camp, is a sand break with several left- & right-handers. It holds up to around 6 feet. Our alternative spots at the Ofir pier (10min walk) or in Viana do Castello  (15min by car) can hold bigger swells (both mainly right hander).

CAMP CHARACTER

---

The ElementFish surf camp is a very relaxed place. Our guests are usually 25+ but everyone is welcome. Single travellers and families welcome. We speak German, English and Portuguese.

CAMP OPERATOR

---

The captain and founder of our camp is Mark. He's been an ISA approved surf instructor and life-guard for more than 10 years. Together with his brother Kay, his family and the rest of the team, they run the camp in a very familiar and relaxed atmosphere.

ACCOMMODATION TYPES

---

Our camp features 4x double rooms (two rooms share one shower / bath room), 1x 4-bed room and 1x 6-bed room (each with private shower / bath room), two familiy bungalows with private kitchen and shower / bath room and a bungalow for two people (with private shower / bath room). Bed linen, and blankets are provided.

Our spacious premises invite you to relax and chill-out on our lovely bar, on one of the sofas and cushions on our huge terrace or on one of the sun chairs and hammocks in our huge garden. Additionally we offer Yoga classes and physiotherapy massages on-site.

CATERING

---

 Our kitchen crew prepares a rich, brunch-style breakfast, lunch packs and delicious two-course dinners every day; including our famous welcome BBQ and homemade stone-oven pizza.

We also cater for vegetarian needs on request. (Self-catering possible only in our BigFish bungalow.)

Drinks and snacks are available at our bar.

If you wish to eat or go out , there are bars, restaurants  and a club in 10min walking distance from the camp.

SURF CONDITIONS

---

Breaks directly at the main spot and at nearby spots

Our home beach, right in front of our camp, is a sand break with several left- & right-handers. It holds up to around 6 feet.

Alternative spots are at the Ofir pier (10min walk on the beach) or at the pier in Viana do Castello  (15min by car); both can are also mainly right-handers beach-breaks and can hold bigger swells.

Varios other breaks are within in 15min by car.

Seasonal conditions

The northern part of Portugal offers perfect conditions for surfing all year round.

Swells in the pre-seasons from March until June can get pretty big, but are great to surf.

In the peak-season from June-August it's usualy very warm but can get a bit windy in the afternoons.

The late season (Sept-November) usually features warm water (up to 20 degree Celcius), few winds and consistent big swells. 

Crowd factor and local people

Fortunately, our camp is far away from the crowds - we usually have our home spot to ourselves. Locals are nice.

Ways to get to the camp

Flying to Porto airport (OPO) is the easiest way to get here. We'll pick you up from there (ca. 25min by car).

Alternatively you can catch a bus from Porto into the direction of Viana do Castello and hop off in Esposende, where we'll pick you off.
