Peniche - the Portuguese capital of waves
The Free Surf Camp is based 5 km south of Peniche, and with 80 km north of Lisboa it is just a hour drive to the next airport. Peniche is considered to be one of the best surf regions in Europe, every surfer from beginner to expert can find suitable waves for surfing around the year. The Peniche peninsula has both a north and south facing coast providing an impressive amount of surf breaks in a very short distance.  Peniche also has a world class surf break: Supertubos, also known as the European Pipeline.

Our surf base is situated in a calm and relaxed setting, São Bernardino, where you can relax after a day of surf. There is a beautiful garden, a big roof terrace and a watch tower on top of the house from where you can see the whole region.

Our surf house has private and shared rooms, waiting to warmly welcome you. The house is also equipped with all the essentials that you need for a comfortable holiday. There are both shared and individual bed rooms. The kitchen and living room are shared. Our bbq area outside is perfectly right for a good night of food and drinks. The terrace and watchtower offer a beautiful view over the region and its surf breaks. An outstanding place to sit down, relax and enjoy the view!

SURF COURSE DETAILS

Surfing with us
Our surf school is certificated by the Portuguese Surfing Federation, the Portuguese Tourism Board and part of the surf school association of Peniche. Hereby all safety regulations are guaranteed. Thus, with Free Surf Camp you can count on good quality.

Beginners
We will teach you all the essential basics of surfing, from paddle techniques to standing up and riding waves. You might want to try some curves as well at this stage. We will video your surfing action in the water which will allow you to improve faster.

Intermediate
When you already know basics like paddling and taking off on most waves, we will help to improve your position on the board, to choose the right waves and to improve your bottom turn. The video sessions are a helpful tool in this stage.

Advanced
If you already manage to catch green waves and you control your bottom turn, this is the level for you. We will help you to perfect what you already are able to do and teach you how to speed up on the wave in order to make other surf manoeuvres. We also help you improving your wave choice. Video sessions will allow you to make progress rapidly.

Guiding
If you just wish a ride to the best breaks of the day, it's our pleasure!

SURF CONDITIONS

Breaks directly at the main spot and at nearby spots

The long and sandy beaches offer excellent conditions for beginners to learn fast and in a safe way. More experienced surfers will find perfect conditions to improve their skills on either good sand bank breaks or accessible reef breaks. We are located only a couple of minutes drive away from the famous wave Supertubos, also known as the Portuguese Pipeline. We are close to a big variety of other spots too.

Peniche is a seaside municipality and a city in Portugal, It is located in Oeste Subregion with approximately 30.000 inhabitants in the municipality and about 15000 in the city.
