Summary
Our Surf camp is based in Ericeira, Portugal. This beautiful seaside town became in 2011, the first World Surf Reserve in Europe, second in the world. A place praised for 8 km of shoreline brimming with world-class surf spots, and one of the most preserved surf-havens on the planet. Every year, people from around the world meet here, choosing Magikvanilla as their Surf Holiday destination. The Magik Team genuinely get a buzz out of making people happy and that is why this Surf Camp was created. A dream that becomes reality in 2013, after the owners Steve & Susie quit their steady jobs and followed their passion: hosting people and spreading the love for surfing. Their goal at heart is to create long-lasting powerful memories so that when you’re about 85, you’ll still remember your stay at Magik. That would mean the job was done.

LOCATION AND SURF CONDITIONS
MagikVanilla sits in one of the few secluded properties in Ericeira. Right next to it, the community garden and a picnic park give it a feel of being surrounded by nature and sea. Within minutes, you can walk to different beaches or pop down the town centre. And you just need to go down the road to find a pharmacy, supermarket, restaurant and access to public transports (BUS)
CAMP CHARACTER
The camp becomes a home away from home quite frequently, due to the laid back atmosphere and the welcome environment the owners and the team give. In the camp you can find a few common areas that you can use: the chill out areas both indoors and outdoors, the hammocks spread around the property, the billiard and football table and of course the pool so you can splash around. It is a spot that you can meet people easily and who knows? maybe even make friends for life;)

ACCOMMODATION TYPES

The Surf camp offers dorms up to 5 people, double and twin rooms in the main house, and two bungalows – the Duke and Captain Jack, with double bed, private bathroom, kitchen and lounge. You’re also welcome to use the main house kitchen, barbeque and TV lounge at any time; as well as our chill out areas, sun decks and terraces.

SURF COURSE AND ACTIVITIES
SURF COURSE DETAILS
We are lucky enough to be in Ericeira. The only World Surf Reserve in Europe and one of the most consistent spots on the North Atlantic coast. We have such a variety of waves, beaches, reef and point break, that you'll find perfect spots, regardless of your experience. Our instructors are stoked to share a bit of the silver coast experience with you. Apart from their personal experience all over the world, they have thousands of sea-hours, in class, with all learning levels but most importantly, they are credited by the Portuguese Surf Federation, the International Surf Association (L2) and all certified and experienced Lifeguards and first aiders to give you the best possible experience. Most people that come to our surf school have never surfed before, so if that is your case DON´T WORRY :) all of our instructors have vast experience in teaching beginner surfers how to safely learn the basic skills & to get you standing up on a surfboard & riding a wave!
If you never have surfed before, want a quick recap or already have some experience our surf holidays are ideal for you. We will give you a first approach to surfing and by the end of the week you will be standing on a surfboard for the first time and hooked for life;) but if you already have some experience and conditions allow, you will be catching some green waves out the back and improving your skills to make you a better surfer. On the first lesson, you'll be assessed and grouped according to your experience and coached in small groups. We keep a ratio of 5 or fewer guests per instructor to guarantee quality, safety and FUN. We always aim to teach on a beach break (sandy beach) even if we need to drive further along the coast. Because safety is very important to us, all surfers will be taught the necessary safety procedures & water rules to ensure you have an amazing surf experience.
SURF MATERIALS
We will provide you with all the equipment needed for the lesson. If you have your own wetsuit and you choose to bring it is also ok, in fact, some people rather bring their own wetsuit.
OTHER ACTIVITIES
After your surf lesson, you will be brought back to the Surf Camp, where you can simply chill use the sun-beds, TV, games, etc, you can go into town and explore the narrow streets and cool shops, restaurants and cafes, you can jump on a Bus and go to Lisbon or Sintra (two must-sees) or simply walk to one of the many beaches nearby.
If you are seeking for extra activities, there are a few options you can book on site: Yoga & Aerial Yoga Lessons, SUP (Stand-up-paddle) Sessions, Horse Riding, Massage, Wine Tasting Tours, join one of our organized trips on Thursdays to either Sintra, Lisbon or Óbidos (depending on numbers, time of the year & weather conditions) and/or rent equipment and hit the waves to make the most of your surfing time.

SURROUNDINGS / REGION
Activities and facilities
It is a small town, but full of life. Especially in the sunny seasons, when days and nights are warm and long-lasting. The centre is bubbling with people, street fairs, lovely shops and a great variety of bistros, cafes and terraces. The evening starts slow, with plenty of restaurants serving dinner until late, pubs, bars, folk parties and even a Club open until 6 am in the Summer. The sunsets are a must in this corner of the world and one of the many spots is the Quicksilver Boardriders Skatepark, just a 20 minutes walk from the camp, with a shop and bar where you can have a cocktail and say goodbye to the day as the sun sets.
