ABOUT THE SURF CAMP

Location and Surf Conditions

The Veraguas province borders to the North with the Caribbean Sea, to the South with the Pacific Ocean, to the East with the province of colon, Cocle, Herrera, Los Santos and to the West with the province of Chiriquí and Comarca Ngobe Buglé. It is the only province of Panama limited in both oceans.

It has the largest island in the country, Coiba. Veraguas has 8 protected areas, which are: Santa Fe National Park, Coiba National Park, Cerro Hoya National Park (shared with the province of Los Santos), wetlands of importance world Gulf of Montijo, forest reserve “La Yeguada”, forest reserve of Alto Guarumo, protected municipal area of the thermal “El Potrero” and municipal area protected waterfall of Las Palmas.

The Oasis Surf Camp is located in Estero beach in Santa Catalina, in the Panamanian Pacific side, in the province of Veraguas. From Estero beach is possible to walk to the town of Santa Catalina, the walk takes about 20 minutes.

Camp Character

The hotel is very family from the youngest to the most adults in the home can enjoy the facilities provided by the surf camp, besides, your pets are welcome (any time you take care well of them and they do not sleep in the bed).

You can enjoy a nice evening with a campfire and drink a few beers or the bottle of wine with your friends. Or you can come to our restaurant, where we sell all kinds of liquors.

The main language used is the spanish, but we also speak english.

Camp Operator

It has been 14 years since David next to his father came from Italy to build what is today the Oasis Surf Camp. Year after year are making improvements in the hotel to keep your customers more comfortable and that your stay is a total pleasure; and well wishing to return to enjoy your holiday with us.

The owner of the Surf Camp is David Bortoletti and the owner of the Oasis restaurant is Silvia Bortoletti. Jennifer of Bortoletti is responsible for the reservations in the hostel and in the hotel.

Together have a qualified team of people that make your stay pleasant well.

ACCOMMODATION AND CATERING

Accommodation

The Oasis Surf Camp is located literally in front of the Estero beach, i.e. that all its rooms and the camping area overlooking the sea.

All the rooms have fans (air conditioning is optional for $10 or $15 more than the original price). All rooms have hot water. Our prices range in the high season from $40 up to $150; and in low season from $35 up to $120. The capacity of the room is from 1 person up to 6 people. Rooms come fully equipped with sheets, towels, toilet paper and soaps.

We also offer a camping area of between $10 to $5 (depending on season) per night per person. We recommend that you go camping in the summer.

We have just inaugurated a “Star” suite luxuriously equipped with everything you need. Two rooms, living room with sofa bed, dining room, kitchen luxuriously equipped, private bathroom with hot water and blower, satellite tv, dvd, private balcony with view to the sea and park. Can fix up to 5 people.

You can get with your car to the hotel: there are parking spaces available, there are free wiifi (available only to customers of the Oasis) and there is satellite tv in the restaurant area.

Catering

The Surf camp offers discount to retiree. Each service has its cost except the wiifi free (exclusive only to customers of the Oasis). Our hotel has a restaurant that offers Italian and international cuisine, served from breakfast to dinner with affordable prices for customers. Also within its menu has meals for vegetarians.

SURF COURSE AND ACTIVITIES

Surf Course Details

Just in front of our surf camp the Estero Beach is one of the best beach break, very friendly for those who want to learn the fascinating sport of surfing.
The surf courses may be offered throughout the day, but we suggest you choose the hours where the tide is high or medium.

The courses are delivered in both english and spanish.

The Oasis surf school is open to all public, including people who are not hosted in our hotel or hostel.

Surf Materials

The boards we use for surf classes are foam, practices and safe for our students. Float enough so feel safe to enjoy the class.
We suggest that our students placed blocker in areas that the body does not have contact with surfboard, a sweater or Lycra to protect even more than the Sun.


Other Activities

We offer: Transfers from the hotel to the city of Panama or from the airport to the hotel, as well as other destinations.

Surf lessons in front of the hotel, rental of surfboards, laundry service, boat trips for fishing, surfing and diving destinations local, including the Coiba Island, island Cebaco, Morro Negrito and many other destinations.

Breaks Directly at the Main Spot and at Nearby Spots

The perfect location of our hotel allows our customers to reach all the breaks in a matter of minutes. A wave of medium size is right on the main door of your room.

Beginners

The Estero Beach is a beach break perfect for beginners and for experienced persons in the surf.

Experienced

The famous break of Santa Catalina is 'La Punta' just a 2 minutes’ walk along the beach from the hotel (you can see "La Punta" of the cabins). And as 10 minutes walk from the hotel to your left you will find another tip called "Punta Brava", a wave only for experienced in the sport of surfing.

We are fortunate to have a temperate climate and also of having waves throughout the year.In our Oasis can practice beginners in sea bottom sand waves, small and consistent; but there are also surf for advanced surfers.As the waves are both, left and right of the bottom is rocky. Usually the waves oscillate within 3 to 15 feet; the biggest waves can be found between march and august.
