ABOUT THE SURF CAMP

You'll reside in one of the best urban beaches in the world which has all kinds of facilities, services and activities- day & night- with a very pleasant temperature of 25 C on average. The accommodation can be shared in the OCEANSIDE SURF HOUSE- beachfront, spacious and bright, with a spectacular terrace overlooking the Atlantic- or in a PRIVATE APARTMENT or HOTEL, all located along Las Canteras beach.

The Canarian Surf scene is crowded with dozens of surf bars, restaurants and pubs. Immediately after you are done with surfing and eating a good meal while enjoying sea view, the notorious nightlife of Surf City in Las Palmas can begin.

You will love it, starting from midnight and continuing until in the early hours of the morning.

We are a company located in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (Canary Islands, Spain) in which everything revolves around this wonderful activity called surf. We began as a shop in Las Canteras beach over 10 years ago and we've been growing gradually since then. Today, in addition to the store, we have the Quicksilver school, a travel agency and a Stand UP Paddle (SUP) Center. At the same time we have expanded our offer and actually we have organize camps for all levels, surfaris to the best waves of the island, summer camps for children up to 15 years. Also in our school we give surf, bodyboard and paddle lessons 365 days a year, fitness trainings for advanced users, rent equipment,... in short, we have everything you might need to enjoy your stay in Gran Canaria.

From Ocean Side you have easy access to all Surfspot of Las Palmas!

The spot were me mostly do our surf classes is called La Cicer – a perfekt beach break for beginners as well as experienced surfers.

Most of the surf spots are just a few hundred meters away from our Surfcamp.Some otheres are located in the south of Las Palmas in the fishers distric San Cristobal and on black sanded beach La Laja.
But best quality waves and also waves which are perfect for beginners are directly at our Surfcamp.

Spots like La Cicer, El Lloret, La Barra and maybe the best Surfspot on the Island: El Confital. But for this spot you should be an advance surfer already.

Surfspot “La Cicer“
This surf spot known under the name of La Cicer it is the “house ad“ of our Surf Camps.
Only 50 yards distance from La Cicer, you will find our surf school, surf camp and our surf shop.The spot is located at the western end of the 4 kilometer long Canteras beach.

This beach break is probably the best spot of the whole island. It is perfect for all beginners, but also good surfers because it produces waves in various sizes all year long.

In comparison to other spots like El Fronton or El Confital, the waves do not have a reef and the beaches have a sandy surface.

There are 4 different breaks fro which you can choose the one that suits you best.The spot has good waves and probably the best infrastructure on the island. On the beach you will find numerous showers, a Red Cross station, and even hooks to hang your towel.

The atmosphere in the water is created by many Erasmus students and people who live in Las Palmas. 
The famous surfers give the increasing, global awareness of great waves and this makes Surf City an international vacation spot.

Seasonal Conditions

There is a justified reason why Gran Canaria is known as the “island of eternal spring “. This island has summers with average temperatures differing from 26 to 28 degrees, and in winter from 22 to 24 degrees
The water temperature in winter is on average around 20 degrees in summer to 25 degrees

Landscape diversity
Another attribute of Gran Canaria, ‘the miniature continent’, is the island’s broadness of only 1,500-square kilometers

In the south of the island you will discover the dunes of Maspalomas, a miniature desert landscape. The south coast is enchanced with many beautiful beaches such as Anfidelmar, Amadores Maspalomas, Puerto Rico and Mogan.

If you go to the center of the island, you must be aware that Gran Canaria is an island of volcanic origin. You will find deep craters, vast pine forests, meadows, grazing sheep and cattle in the deep valleys, and dense vegetation mainly in the northern part of the island center 

The northern coast of the island is the true paradise, especially for surfers
Here you will find dozens of surf spots and dream-like fishing villages such as San Felipe, Los skirt, El Agujero, Sardina or Caleta de Arriba

Right next to the surf Spots are also some very interesting archaeological sites such as the Cuevas Pintadas, Cenobbio de Valeron and the remains of the Native village El Agujero, which you may want to visit.

Having around 400,000 inhabitants Las Palmas de Gran Canaria is the capital of the western province of the Canary Islands (this includes the neighboring islands of Fuerteventura and Lanzarote).

Surfing
Firstly to the most interesting information for surfers! In the city of Las Palmas you will find 12 surf spots. Most of them are only a few hundred meters distance from our Surf camp.

Diving
This city is a paradise, the divers as well. Directly in front of our Surf camp you will find “La Barra“, a great spot for snorkel diving.

Cycling
We warmly recommend the (approximately) 7km long cycling route, with beautiful sight seeing along the east coast of the city.
Starting from the harbor, past the old town and the through the fishing area of San Cristobal to the beach La Laja.
You may also male a trip to the beach Confital by bike. It is a great experience. 

Beaches
The Canteras beach, where our Surf Camp is located, is certainly the jewel of the city. There are 3 more beaches withing the city, worth of your interest; the completely unspoilt beach of Confital with the best waves in Europe, the beach Alcaravaneras, and the black La Laja beach which is also a suitable surf spot.

Events
The highlights are certainly the music festival Womad, taking place in November and the Christmas and New Year celebrations during December. 
Throughout February you can enjoy the carnival, and on 24. June make sure to visit the party in the honor of Founding day of the city. A complete calendar of events will soon be available on our homepage.

Nightlife
There are really small chances that you will find Surf camps with such an active and features-full nightlife anywhere in the world. Directly in front the surf camp you may check out the numerous bars, pubs and discos that are mostly visited by the surfing- people. If this is not enough for your needs, the Old part of town and the street of Franchy y Roca offer whole night parties, where you can dance until the early morning hours.

Culture
Only 100 meters from the surf camp is the location of the Concert Hall Auditorium Kraus. As far as exploring culture is concerned, you should pay a visit to the city center of Las Palmas, which offers a culture more than 500 year old. This is undoubtedly worth seeing. 

Here are some other locations, which we recommend as worth visiting;

• The Museum of Christopher Columbus
• the archaeological museum of Canary (Museo Canario)
• the Centre of Modern Art (CAAM)
• the event center CICCA

Shopping
And last but not least, we should mention that only 200 meters from our Surf Camp, you will fins a huge shopping center ‘Las Arenas’.
More shopping streets, like Mesa y Lopez and Calla Mayor de Tirana located in the old town, offer you Power-shopping with often very reasonable prices.

The shopping center El Muelle, located in the harbor, is full of dozens of interesting shops. This location is great because there you can also relax while enjoying the view across the harbor. Relax in gazing on one of the greatest and largest sights of the Atlantic!

How to get there
Las Palmas has its own airport from which departures, on a regular basis, a bus to Las Palmas. Also there are taxis and car rentals.
Shuttle service from the airport at 30€/trip for a max. number of 7 people.

                    - Surf Course with titled instructor (2h/day)
                    - Surf Equipment (Surfboard NSP* wetsuit Quicksilver or Roxy, school shirt
                    - Surf equipment after the lessons
                    - Picnic (Fruit and water)
                    - Accident Insurance and Liability during the course
                    - Recording and video analysis (courses of 5 days, 1 day of recording)
                    - Small groups, 1 Instructor with a maximum of 5 students
                    - 1 hour session with professional instructor at Element Yoga Center (all levels)

                    *We understand intermediate level students who have already done an introductory course and already know how to perform and up without difficulty and begin to cross the waves*

                    • If customer want an advanced surfboard MUST contract the surfboard insurance 5,00€ /day. If the client doesn't want the insurance will be responsible for any damage to the surfboard.
