The Surf Hostel is located 5 minutes walking from the beach. It is big Villa (an old family house) that has been renovated in 2010.It is an amazing place to be where you can make lots of new friends and have a great time surfing and relaxing in a family environment. where we are located there are 60 kms of surf spots for all types of surfers where you can find all types of waves with or without crowd. In the surroundings you can find cheap or expensive restaurants, bars where you can enjoy a good drink watching the sunset. You can also join us at our weekly parties at the hostel (normally the house is full of friendly people).

Peste Surfcamp was started by a family and is known as one of the oldest surf schools in Portugal.

The owner, Luis Bessa, surfs since 1990 and teaches since 2004.
The team is qualified as surf, kite and stand up paddle and his instructors also as lifeguards and school teachers. They have a lot of experience and are always ready to help.

The hostel is an old family house, with four shared rooms served by two bathrooms and two double rooms with private bathroom, TV and DVD in the first floor.
The house has a big dinning/seating room with a nice open fireplace. In addition we have a big room with a bar where you can listen some good music, watch a surf movie or simply hang out with the other guests while drinking good wine or cold beer. In the garden you can enjoy the sunshine and have a good breath of pure air.

Meals can be cooked in the big kitchen where you can find everything you need.
On fridays we like to host a BBQ and everyone is invited to join the party.

SURF COURSE DETAILS

Surfing
The 1 day price includes: insurance, morning and afternoon surf course or surf guide, surf equipment, transport to and from the surf camp.

The week package price includes: insurance, 7 nights accomodation, 5 days surf course or surf guide, surf equipment, breakfast, transport to and from the beaches / camp.

Kite Surfing
Kite Surf School offers lessons every day from February until November. The complete course takes 10 hours and is broken into four sections. ( 3 afternoons and 1 theoretical lesson at our kite center ):

Phase 1 ( 3hrs ) - rules for flying kites safely with small and large dimensions on land. At the end of this phase the students are able to choose the best material for their physical conditionl and handles it safely.
Phase 2 ( 3+3 hrs ) - control the kite in the water, bodydrag techniques and make the first stand ups.
Phase 3 ( 1 hr ) - theoretical session at our kite center to review on-line forescast, spots and material. At the end of this phase the student gains independence, necessary for kite.

In addition we offer an 2 hour long UNHOOK course where you will perfect the technique of wake-style tricks, tuning the material, trip and "pop". This course is €60.

The 10 day package includes everything of the 5 day package and additionally the UNHOOK course and more advanced lessons, based on the riders skills.

Standup Paddle
Stand up paddle doesn´t have an age limit. It's always possible to learn it.

We guarantee that you will stand up in the very first lesson, no matter which experience or ability you´ve got. And we are excited to be the first school in the north of Portugal, teaching Standup Paddle. Lessons begin in flat waters, such as Douro River or in the ocean bays. After a few lessons, when you start getting more comfortable you will be catching waves in no time.
