Selina Jaco is the best surf  location in the area, directly at the beach in the surf spot (Playa Jaco).

Other surfing spots (10minutes): Playa Hermosa, Playa Escondida, Roca Loca, Esterillo Oeste...

Waves for beginners, intermediate and advance. You can find the best and more consistent Costa Rica´s waves.

Just a few minutes walking to the town center and close the groceries, ATM, hospital, bars & restaurants.

Selina Surf Club offers a comprehensive set of packages adapted to your needs with the sole aim of offering the perfect surfing holidays in Central America. We believe we are part of the experience and therefore we want it to be memorable. At Selina Surf Club we teach surfers of all levels. We provide surf lessons for those who want to learn how to step on to the water and surfers that want to improve having more speed and control in the green waves. Also for advance surfers who wants to go one step further in their technique and style. Professional and experienced surf teachers coach you. They will get you to that next level and help you get the most from your surfing. We use the latest and most advanced equipments to provide the best feeling ever, all the lessons include surfboard and all equipment needed.

Lessons:
- Group lessons (max. 4 people): 2 hours per day, equipment included 
- Semi-private lessons (max 2 people): 2 hours per day, equipment included

Guidings:

Selina Surf Team guides will found good waves for your level and surf with you in the best spots. You can book in Selina Surf Club lessons (Surf & SUP), guidings and rentals withouth accommodation.

Costa Rica is known for its miles of white sandy beaches, monkeys swinging in the trees that line the sand and endless waves that begged to be ridden. With the name Costa Rica meaning the “rich coast”, it certainly lives up to its name by having some of the best surfing destinations in the world. From beginner to advanced, there is a wave for everyone along one of Costa Rica’s hundreds of beaches.  Unpaved roads and hidden paradises have kept these magnificent beaches from becoming overcrowded and will have you feeling as though you are entering a secret paradise.

Selina surf club is located in Playa Jaco spot. Jaco has incredible year round surf conditions for all surfing levels, probably one of the best places worldwide to improve your surfing or learn to surf for the first time.

Just 10- 15 minutes of rest of the most importants spots in the area.

Playa Jaco is a surfer’s sanctuary. There is no doubt that Jaco is one of the best places to begin your surfing journey. Beginners can learn to ride here and veterans can get their groove back.

The long beach of Jaco features a small beach break with lots of peaks. The waves break over a sandy bottom to the right and left. Although the waves have an average quality with an ordinary power, they remain consistent throughout the year and provide a great base for all sorts of surfers. Good swells are raised from Northwest and Southwest direction. Unlike other beaches, a southern swell creates small surf as it is protected by a western bay. Superb waves are generated at mid to high tide when it is rising. The best time to surf is two hours before a high tide. During a low tide, beginners can learn to surf in the whitewater.

Seasonal conditions
Costa Rica surfing is definitely recommended, is a legendary surfing location and is seen as more of a 'hardcore' destination  and for the adventurous it could be the trip of a lifetime.

MAJOR SWELLS
April to October, but the clean surf season is December to April when swell from deep antic lows reach the Pacific coastline with offshore winds a common occurrence. Typically morning surfs are offshore and afternoon are light onshore, make sure you are up early to get those classic glassy sessions.

Characterization of surroundings/region
Demarcated by Nicaragua in the North and Panama in the South, Costa Rica hugs the Caribbean Sea in the East and the Pacific Ocean in the West. A high plateau divides the American cordilleras in the centre, bordered with low coastal lands in the East and in the West. More of half of the population live in this plain, with a volcanic fertile soil. Mangroves, marshlands and sandy beaches characterize the Caribbean coast, 212 long. More cut and rocky, the Pacific coast spreads out 1 016 km, dotted by gulfs and peninsulas.

Costa Rica is home to a rich variety of plants and animals. Over 840 species of birds have been identified in Costa Rica. As is the case in much of Central America, the avian species in Costa Rica are a mix of North and South American species. The country's abundant fruit trees, many of which bear fruit year round, are hugely important to the birds, some of whom survive on diets that consist only of one or two types of fruit.

"Pura Vida" is the most recognizable phrase attached to Costa Ricans, and it reflects the inhabitant's positive view of life. Literally translated, the expression means: “pure life” and denotes a simple life, free of stress, a positive, relaxed feeling.

Formalities: For French nationals, a passport valid 6 months after your return home is compulsory, a return plane ticket as well.No visa for stays of less than a month. The capital is San Jose.

Language: the official language is Spanish. Second lenguage: English.

Health: No vaccine is required to enter Costa Rica. Nevertheless, think about taking a treatment against malaria if you wish to hazard in the jungle.

Time differences: -7 hours in winter, -8 hours in summer.

Weather: Costa Rica is a tropical country and only has two seasons: humid and dry. The dry season usually lasts from the end of December to mid-April. The wet season lasts the rest of the year. The Caribbean coast remains humid all year long. Temperatures not change too much.

Nearby airports to Jaco: San José  (1,30hrs) and Liberia (2,50hrs). Book your Selina Surf Club airport transfer.

Environment: Here, there are no hollow promises but a true political will and a life reference. Everything has been settled for more than 15 years now, for a harmonious and lasting development. Ecology in Costa Rica is a position for the whole nation.

Water/Electricity: Do not drink the tap water and bring along medicine for intestinal problems. Use an American outlet with flat connections because the electric current is 110 V.

Currency: The local currency is Colon (CRC) but it is not exportable. We recommend you to have US dollars in small denominations and change on the way there. Credit cards are not accepted everywhere.
