Welcome to Shanti Surfcamp   Come and learn how to align with the waves of life through surfing! The attitude we have while surfing a wave, is the attitude we need in every moment of life. Surfing is a physical practice which teaches us the posture that fosters the attitude of being always present and conscious. This attitude of oneself is fundamental for our daily life. For this reason we consider surfing as a tool of great importance to the evolution of consciousness of the human being in the New World. The proximity to the best surfing beaches in Europe has led us to open a surfcamp in association with our partners of MarocSurfCamp. Available for surfers of all levels, we offer daily practice of yoga and healthy food.

After several travels throughout the 5 continents and contact with several philosophies and life styles, Eduardo Buzaglo and Carolina Mantero have acquired a set of techniques that they consider basic for the alignment of the human being in the New World, in the current moment.

Contacts and studies have been developed within the knowledge of Ayurveda, Macrobiotic Philosophy and the Law of Time. Our experience over the past 10 years in Casa Shanti, Penedo do Lexim, which is a place of knowledge itself, has made us want to share our experience.

Maria and Mohcine founded «Marocsurfcamp» in Morocco 6 years ago. In July 2009, they decided to share their surfing experience in Portugal, Maria’s country of birth, together with Carolina and Eduardo.

All together, we decided to create a surfcamp, not only for surfing, but also to create a project of harmony and tuning with your inner self.

Casa Shanti  

Our surfcamp is a little farm, with stone houses built from old ruins, sourrounded by beautiful gardens and a biological farm. All houses are equipped with satellite TV and wireless internet connection. We will also have eco-friendly accomodation soon: a tree-house and a straw-bale house in the woods.

We cook macrobiotic/vegetarian food and offer you a yoga practice session everyday before breakfast, so you can start the day with a healthy body and mind.    


Ecological Resort  

The resort is a unique place. Our main concerns are the future, environment and sustainability. In that sense we think, rethink and act to make a change.  
At Ericeira Ecological Resort guests are invited to actively participate in several ecological practices. You can play an active role improving the surrounding areas while promoting a better understanding of the region.  

Our camp displays 6 bungalows with 2 double rooms, hair dryer, balcony with chairs and sleeping nets, open kitchen (equipped with refrigerator and freezer, stove, microwaves, coffee machine, toaster, water boiler, kitchenware and set of cutlery for 6 pax, bathroom (with shower),LCD television, solar power system for water heating and central heating equipment by bio-power energy or heat pump.    

We also offer accomodation in wooden barrels (see photos below), both equipped with with twin beds and LCD televisions (shared bathroom & kitchen).

Learn how to surf with fully qualified surfing instructors. They will take you to the best spots in the region, with waves suitable to everyone's individual skills.

Our classes are taught in Portuguese, English, Spanish and French. For experienced surfers we can also provide surfing gear and guided tours to our local spots.

For all Surfers interested in Yoga and for all Yogis willing to learn to surf and for all those who would like to try or already do both, Surfing and Yoga. You need comfort and pure bliss? You found just the right place!

Yoga is an ancient practice which aims to our physical, mental and spiritual growth. This practice is a self-awareness and uniting trip with our essence, leading us to a state of satisfaction, peace, balance and harmony.

We provide our guests with complimentary yoga sessions every morning, before surfing.

Surf conditions

---

Ericeira is considered Portugal's surfing Mecca, internationally recognized as one of the best surf spots in Europe.  

Since 1985, it has been one of the venues of the ASP World Championship(WQS). Ericeira has some of the best waves in Portugal, Ribeira d'Ilhas, a right point break accessible to all levels of surfing.    

- Along the region there are several world class surfing spots:  

S. Lourenço
Large bay that can hold the entrance of a giant swell.Soft inside wave and difficult outside wave when large. Point Break.  

Coxos
Ericeira's queen wave and one of the most famous in Portugal.Beware of the sea-urchin.Getting in and out of the water may be difficult when tie is low. Point Reef Break.  

Crazy Left
A tubular wave on the south side of Coxos’Bay. Fast waves, hallow type and very powerful , that break over a rock bed. Best when high–tide. Point Reef Break.  

Cave
This is the heaviest wave in Ericeira, comparable to Australian waves. It's very dangerous because it’s breaks in front a rock bed.Recommended only to professionals. Reef Break.  

Ribeira d’Ilhas
Between 2 and 5 depending on the wave direction. Probably one of the best rights in Europe. Long right with various sections. It’s one of the most consistent summer spots, holding a 1 to 3.5 meter swell. Reef Break.  

Reef
Tubular wave over very flat rock bottom (1m deep - very shallow). When it works it's magical, but can leave wounds. Reef Break.  

Backdoor
It has tubular sections that are a little bit scary when the tide is low. Reef Break.  

Pedra Branca
Very fast and potent left reef break. It has a fabulous look and hold waves from 1 to 3 meters. Not recommended at low tide. Reef Break.  

Praia Norte
Between 2 and 5 depending on the wave direction. Long right reef break. Holds wave up to 3 meters. Works with mid-tide to high tide. In the centre of the village of Ericeira. Reef Break.  

Furnas
Hard and dangerous wave, due to the proximity to rocks. Hard drop wave, good tubes and thick lips. Long history of broken boards. It's a last resort when all waves are too big. Reef Break.  

Foz do Lizandro
Between 1 and 4 depending on the waves direction. Good spot for beginners and advanced surfers. Beach Break.  

S.Julião
Works with swells in all directions and all tides, depending only on the type of bottom which is sand. It's a small wave spot that maxes-out easily. Size goes from 0,5 meter to 1,5 meters (2 to 6 feet. Beach Break.)
