Situated in the south west of Morocco, Taghazout village is a small fishing area about 20 km north of Agadir. The laid-back Taghazout village is located at the foothills of the surrounding mountains, is nestled among a set of small bays in south of the legendary surf breaks.

Our team

All our Team members are extremely supportive and patient, they have a unique way of dissecting and articulating really technical surf coaching into easy to understand, providing unambiguous communication in different languages: English, French, and German.

Momo

Momo has found Surf Morocco Coast Surf camp in three locations : Agadir, Tamraght and Taghazout. He is a water sports enthusiast, grew up with a passion for dancing. He has got advanced certificate in surfing and several First Aid certificates.

He is also the founder of Association Agadir Founti Surf. since 2005 he has been investing all his energy into making surfing one of the most popular sport activities in the city of Agadir for both tourists and locals.

Jimi

With a degree in Hospitality and Business Administration, he has worked in 5 star hotels, in Paris, Agadir and Marrakesh for many years now and in different departments: guest relations, guest service concierge, administration and accounting. He is really keen on travel, curious about different cultures.

He started surfing at the age of 16 and sparked passion for surfing in Momo - the founder of SMC. He is now delighted to apply his experience and knowledge of the hospitality to make Surf Morocco Coast one of the best place where to stay.

Jimi currently manages all Morocco offers and reservations, when he is not surfing, he loves swimming or playing archery and tennis.

Laura

Before joining Surf Morocco Coast Laura gained valuable experience in the media and communication industry, have worked for translation and communication agencies in Paris, also a national TV in Asia.

Laura now controls the marketing and communication side of Morocco Coast, She loved travelling around the world and speaks many languages including advance level Chinese since she lived for over 4 years in Beijing and Shanghai. Inspired by her uncle Michael who had traveled through Africa and America biking in the early 90s. She has traveled extensively to destinations including: Morocco, Tunisia, Ireland, Russia, China, and South Korea.

Nasser

When Nasser was 12 years old his family moved from Casablanca to Agadir, where he found most attractive surf spots to practise his surfing. Nasser travels all over the Moroccan surf coast to surf, but he always returns back to his beloved spot in Taghazout and Agadir. He began giving surfing lessons at 20.

Now, Nasser divides his time between Morocco and Poland, he looks forward to sharing his passion with new surfers of all ages as well as experienced surfers from all over the world wishing to improve their skills. Nasser has become recently a father, he is a great surf instructor and a cheerful friend.

Liliya

Liliya is a yoga instructor living in Morocco since a year now. Qualified yoga teacher, she a professional dancer, won internatioanl awards and participated in a many competitions in Europe and Russia. She is a Yoga teacher yoga for 8 years now, traveled around the world to teach Yoga in large Hotels. She is a very enthusiastic, has a great sense of humour and shares a permanent endless positive energy.

Here is an idea about your surfing typical day in Morocco

A professional surf coaches and guides will be with with each groups of no more than 8 guests per instructor. sometimes group are smaller than that 3 to 5. Your typical day at Surf Morocco Coast day looks something like this:

The surfing conditions is an important factor in choosing the surf spot of the day and activities, however, we try to satisfy everyone at our camp and build a strong communication:

07.30: Breakfast: traditional Moroccan breakfast made of local products, Amelou, Bio Honey, cereals and more.

08.45: After the breakfast your  instructor or guide will come to greet you, load the vehicle, lunch boxes, surf gear, then you will explore the best surfing area with the most favorable conditions according to level of participants.

12:30: Packed lunch at the beach.

13.00 – 17.00: Free surf session under the supervision and professional advises of our surf instructors, your  journey is completed, return to accommodation.

18.00: optional yoga class, or any other recreational services or activities your subscribed for such as Yoga, Hamman, Massage, Riding, ect…

20.00: Dinner time, often in House in your accommodation venue, and one night out in a restaurant to chill out and party in the Agadir down town.

If you wish to stop surfing at midday for any reason like to do another activity, or just to relax in your accommoation, then we’ll arrange that for you immediately.

Breaks directly at the main spot and at nearby spots

K11
Left hand wave which is close to the surf house and most of the time it is not busy. 11 Kilometers is a point break where you can improve your surf in low tide and high tide. The first Australian who surfed this place was the famous surfer Taj Burrow. This beach is long and sandy. If there is no surf you can make other kinds of sport there for example running and yoga. Or just relax in the sun and charge your batteries for the next surf session.

Anchor Point
The most famous wave in Morocco. Surfed since the sixties by travelling surfers, a right-hand point that can peel for over 400 metres. Located approximately 2km north of Taghazout

Banana Point
A long right hander breaks from this small beach, often sheltered from the Northerly winds; it provides an all level wave more consist at low tide. When you have finished up on this wave you are a hundred yards away from Banana village. This little town is famous for its tajines and sweet bananas

Anza Point
All in all, although the water quality probably isn’t the best, the wave is really fun and provides when other spots are not.

Black Pont

Boilers
A right hand point break with waves that can peel for over 300 metres.

Hash Point
Aptly named, due to its proximity to Tagazout, Hash point is perfect If the five minute walk to Anchors is just too much. There is a special vibe in the water in the evenings, when you are more likely to see surfers gently paddling around with a grin on their face than catching any waves. If you do get Hash Point at its best, it can provide a fun wedgy righthander, and is only a 1 minute walk from our apartment.

Imsouane
Imsouanne truly provides something for everyone in one small stretch of coast. One of the longest rights in the world breaks into the harbour and provides an awesome wave for longboarders, intermediates and beginners.

When the swell is big though it can get world class. Just past the harbour wall and point break is a huge stretch of beach leading as far as you can see. You can often walk the whole stretch and not see another set of footprints, Amazing place to chill out or surf a great variety of waves.

Devils Rock
Directly in front of the village of Tamraght. The beach offers peaky waves with a right off Devil’s Rock when there is decent sand build up.

Dracula
Vampire teeth shaped rocks give the name to this big swell handler. A fast right hander pushes some punchy often large sets definitely not for the faint hearted. Known as Boilers evil twin!

K12
An A frame peak. The left is slow and mellow. The right offers a shorter but faster ride.

Killer Point
A right-hand sand point that can equal Jeffreys Bay on its day. A truly great wave that is very underrated. Named after the killer whales that often pass through

Mirleft
Tiny, undeveloped coastal resort counting several beaches below the cliffs. Check the Oued (river) mouth.

K14
A right hand wave that breaks off an outcrop of rocks. Requires the right build up of sand (hence the name), but classic on its day

La Source
Fresh water springs bubble up from the onshore rock formations forming ‘the Well’ providing performance walls and a high lifting A-frame perfect for all levels of surfing abilities. On the push on a small swell the right handers hold up towards the cliffs while the rarer lefts break out towards the beach section. Small reef sections combining with sandy sections provide a clean wave mostly.

Mystery Point
A right hand wave that breaks off an outcrop of rocks. Requires the right build up of sand (hence the name), but classic on its day.

Panorama
The most famous wave in Morocco. Surfed since the sixties by travelling surfers, a right-hand point that can peel for over 400 metres. Located in the heart of Taghazout.

Sidi Ifni
The main wave is a long righthand wall breaking over boulder type rocks way on the outside. 2 lefts and the town beachbreak complete the panorama on the “promenade”. 2km to the south, a right hander breaks off the end of the harbour wall that protects an inside left when big.

Tamri
A beach break offering numerous peaks. Tamri is the biggest swell magnet in the area, there is always a wave to be found even when the charts look flat.

Spider
Reef break in between Banana point and Devil’s Rock. Used to be a locals only spot as the sand build up is essential to this right-hand wave breaking and local knowledge on the sand build up is imperative.

Aglou Sidi Mousa
Pumping waves in a smaller peaky swells break with shape and a bit of power in clean conditions. Look for right reef to the north of main beach.

Tifnit
Tifnit a great local fishing village famous for its cave houses “grots” and probably one of the best swell magnets in the area of Agadir. This little gem can make your trip worth while with its miles of empty breaks and wild beach’s.With a number of reef’s beaches and slabs along this coast there is a wave for everyone!

Seasonal conditions

Morocco's beaches are best during the summer months when the temperatures are cooler than inland, yet warm enough to warm up the Atlantic Ocean. But this is also tourist high season, so make sure you book well in advance, especially if you plan on visiting Essaouira or Agadir. Morocco has long attracted surfers to its Atlantic breakers. A popular time to surf is during the winter months when swells are consistently good and the water and air temperatures are still quite mild.me.

Ways to get to the camp

From Marrakech Airport get a taxi to the bus station, then book one of the three companies CTM, Superatour or STCR for an average price of 100 MAD. Once arrived to the Agadir bus station just call us to Surf Morocco Coast and our driver will be there to pick up you for a lovely holidays in our surf camp.

Women traveler

Morocco is an Islamic country so please avoid short skirt especially in streets and alleys. Wear a bikini or swimsuit only at a pool or on a beach. You'll attract attention regardless what you wear, just ignore it and move on, all the time it is harmless.

Alcohol

Taghazout and Tamraghet are a dry villages, you cannot buy alcohol in any restaurant or bar but you can buy alcohol in the supermarkets in Agadir (only20 min drive) or bring it from the duty free shop at the airport, please notice that we kindly ask you to keep the note for alcohol drink and hand it over to our team referent for your group/surf camp.
