ABOUT THE SURF CAMP

LOCATION AND SURF CONDITIONS

Areia Branca is a small beach town 68 km north of Lisbon and 12 km south of Peniche (one of the most high quality surf arear in Europe. This town is a beutifull little beach arangement yet to be discovered by the rest of Europe. Its long sandy beaches extend for kilometers divided by subtle natural rock piles. The Areia Branca beaches provide us with optimal wave canditions for biginers and advaced surfers. Often unmarked beaches and othewise private settings here give us a fresh get away from the crowds found  in the Peniche area.

CAMP CHARACTER

The Underdog Body Glove Surf House is settled in Praia da Areia Branca, located in the "western central" part of Portugal with the beach only a five minute walk away. The house is our main attraction so be prepared to be surprised!

CAMP OPERATOR

Our staff consists of surfhouse orientators and surf teachers. Most of the staff members are locals that know the area very well and that could indicate some good ideas for the time while you stay with us. We are happy to have the chance to work together with great people. At The Underdog Body Glove Surf House we try and maintain a good group of people so that the atmousfere is positive. Most of the staff members working at the Surf House have been friends for a very long time and when all together its real fun to spend our days!

ACCOMMODATION AND CATERING

ACCOMMODATION TYPES

We looked into making a surfhouse that is more luxuriouse that any common surf house. Our guests enjoy a spaciouse room with a counfortable bed and wooden floor that includes a varanda overseeing our private swiming pool or garden area. The surfhouse has a very open and spaciouse style to it that induces counfort and luxory. Enjoy a game of snooker or kicker in our game room or chill out in our living room area while you watch a surf video or listen to some music. Our biggest bedroom has its own private bathroom and walk in closet. Other bedrooms share the main bathroom that is spaciouse and has its own shower and jacuzi. Two extra showers in the shower room make sure there are no line-ups for taking a bath.

We have a washing machine ready just in case anyone needs to clean clothes.

Our swiming pool/barbeque area is one of the best parts of the surfhouse. Take a dive in the pool or lay back in one of the lazy chairs while enjoying the hot sun.

Also avalable at the surfhouse is the internet/chillout room in the attic. It has its own pateo overseeing the swimming pool and ocean in the backround.

SURF COURSE DETAILS

Our surf teaching program relies on safety, individual approaches and fun concepts. Together with almost 10 years of experience, we developed specific teaching techniques. The result is a unique stoke, and the tendency to forget that you are on a surf lesson.

We offer surfing tuition on two different surfing levels: Beginner and Improver level. We depend on nature conditions to offer quality surf lessons suitable to the different levels. To help you choosing the best period to travel, in order to find the proper conditions according to your level, we recommend:

SURF MATERIALS

One week Surf Course Includes:

- 20 hours of surf lessons per week
- Transfer to and from surf spot
- Board and wetsuit for the whole day (on course days)
- Sport insurance (on course days)
- 1 video feedback sessions
- Excursion to a surf board factory to see how boards are shaped and repaired
- Snack during course days
- CD with photos or with one video recorded session
- Lots of fun
- Wipe outs!

OTHER ACTIVITIES

We also have bicycles avalable for free. If your package inclueds the material feel free to take your wetsuit and surf board to go down to the beach and surf on you own time with no additional cost (this being a special arangement avalable only to the clients that are residing at the house and that are participating in our surfcoarse-also examened by one of our surf teachers before taking the equipment- for safety reasons...).

Areia Branca, Peniche and Sta Cruz all together provide us with doesens of surf spots ranging from beginer to advanced point breaks or normal beach breaks. When your coming to this area to surf, you can be almost sure your in for some hot waves and jam sessions with quality.

Beginner Level - From April till November, although due to our excellent location we can find proper spots for the basic level during the whole year.
Improver Level - From October till July

Portugal is a beutifull and humble country located in south-west Europe and encountered in the Iberic Peninsula of the North Atlantic. Filled with optimal surf locations, warm climates, extravagant night life and historical land structures Portugal can definatly spark your interests in many ways. It is the most ocidental country in Europe and it has huge potencial for Surf here. Its surf life growing with roaring rate that leads us to think that its undicoverd and uncrowded situation wont last forever.
