Summary
Our surf house in Espinho, a small city by the sea 20 km south of Porto, northern Portugal, is located just two steps from the beach. It was built in 1939 and still keeps some of its original features, as its high ceilings, walls and tiles. It was recently renewed to be the perfect destination to make the most of a beach vacation in Portugal, especially surfing lovers, who can recover their power in a cosy place socialize with their fellow mates.
WHY OUR ESPINHO SURF CAMP FOR YOUR SURFING HOLIDAYS?
1.Perfect choice if you want to be close from everything you need and have a roll of options available for what to do, no matter if you travel alone, with a friend, soulmate or with a group of friends.
2. Our place is only a whopping 30 meters away from the beach and from the closest (and best!) surf spot, suitable for all surfing levels, meaning that you can leave the house with the wetsuit on and your board under your arm;

4. Supermarkets, bars, restaurants, shops (surf shop included) and the train station are very close to the house.

ABOUT THE SURF CAMP
LOCATION AND SURF CONDITIONS
Our surf house in Espinho is located within a 30 meters walk from the beach, where the waves are usually pumping! Here you’ll find the some of the best waves in Portugal: the well known Baia’s righthander. The beach is wide and around our place you may find restaurants, small shops, cafes, supermarket, casino and the (underground) train station just 150 metres far. From here you can get to Porto center in about 20 minutes!
CAMP CHARACTER
The house has 5 bedrooms that combine history with surfing. It is the perfect spot both for independent surfers, families or groups friends who want to socialize with locals or simply hit the waves just around the corner, but also to simply beach lovers. Pets not allowed. Smoking not allowed inside.

We grew up at the beach and since the early days, we were driven by the water passion and the desire of travelling and meet new people. Watermark Surf House is the natural result of those passions and our goal is to make sure our guests get the most of this lifestyle experience and feel home.

The house offers 5 comfortable and custom made rooms, one nice common use kitchen, a dining room and lounge areas so that everyone can feel home all year round. Outside, a friendly terrace is the perfect set up for reviewing every day surfing stories with friends.
On the ground floor:
1 shared room (mixed dorm); featuring a combination of history and surfing vibe, high ceilings and 4 big windows and plenty of light, comfortable single accommodations with privacy. Breakfast, Wi-Fi, towels and bed linen included. 1 double or twin bedroom (extra bed option); featuring a combination of history and surfing vibe, high ceilings and 1 big window with street view and 1 balcony with terrace and view; Breakfast, Wi-Fi, towels and bed linen included. SURF COURSE AND ACTIVITIES
SURF COURSE DETAILS
If surfing is your main goal you'll have a wonderful time here. Our surf lessons ensure you:
- a close attendance and surf courses totally adapted to your needs (1:7 ratio, attending to different surfing levels)
- qualified and experienced professionals;
- all the surfing equipment required;
- transportation to/from the surfing spot (although most of the times we just surf at our "backyard" so we just leave home walking...);
- surfing guide (available);
- surfing videos/photos from your surf sessions in order to help all the improving process (available only for the surf packages)
Lessons last 1:30- Clients with accommodation are free to use surfing equipment for free surfing, besides the surf lesson.
Lessons usually happen around low tide time, even though it may change according to surfing conditions. Therefore, surf lessons schedule is confirmed on the day before.
SURF MATERIALS
We provide all the surfing equipment needed attending to your surfing expertise. Guests with surf packages have free access to surfing equipment for free surfing.

SURF CONDITIONS
Breaks directly at the main spot and at nearby spots
Espinho has mainly 2 spots:
“Baía’s” righthander: Located on the main beach, the wave runs on a regular beachbreak setup on small and medium swells that can turn into a classic righthand pointbreak, when conditions cooperate along the jetty. The beach it’s just 20 metres from our house.
“Cagalhotos”: 1 km south from the main beach, the wave is similar to Espinho’s main spot but often longer and more friendly, even though it shows some nice and long barrels when conditions are settled.
Seasonal conditions
Summer swells, like in all surf spots in Portugal, are usually smaller comparing to Winter swells. Water temperature goes from ok/warm (21ºC) to cold (11ºC)- 3.2 mm or 4.3 mm wetsuit.
Crowd factor and local people
Crowd in Espinho is a reality, even though it’s not massive like in many other quality surf spots.

Characterization of surroundings/region
Espinho is a small city by the sea with all the servicies and facilities needed, as well as an easy and fast conection with Porto.
Activities and facilities
There are also several services and facilities nearby: atm, supermarket, shops and surf shops, bars, casino, local market, hospital and train station. Some of Espinho’s main events are the Espinho Surf Destination (includes several surfing competitions and specially the WSL ProJunior leg), FEST (cinema festival) and some of the city’s theaters agenda, specially music related.
The easy going ride by train to Porto makes our house a strategic place which makes posible a perfect combination between culture, fun and quality surfing.
JOURNEY
Ways to get to the camp
For those who come by plane, getting from Porto’s airport (Francisco Sá Carneiro – OPO) it's easy: take the metro from there to Porto (Campanhã station). For that you should buy the Andante. You can buy it on the airport metro and it works both for Porto metro and the train to Espinho. At Campanhã train station you should catch the train to Espinho (average 20 min journey). Our place it's just 150 metros far.
Transportation to/from the airport is available (35€/journey 9 am-11 pm; 45€/journey 11pm-9am; pick-up time)
