ABOUT THE SURF CAMP

Alma surf school is a surf school on the north coast of Spain that offers residents and visitors from western Asturias a complete surfing experience, teaching people of all ages the true Aloha spirit. Using proven teaching techniques, our instructors will ensure that you are always safe while having fun and learning the basics of surfing. Learn to surf in a controlled environment, to know its culture and to understand and respect the marine environment with our introductory or advanced courses in surfing techniques. Our classes are specifically designed to meet the needs of each of the ages and levels. In addition, we have a complete offer depending on the days and free time you have. Come and surf with the security and confidence that our experienced team offers. Our instructors, in addition to knowing perfectly the marine environment of the area, are qualified by the Spanish Surfing Federation as well as in first aid and water rescue.

ACCOMMODATION AND CATERING

We can boast of offering exceptional accommodation. The large windows in all the rooms make the natural light illuminate every corner. Spacious spaces with different atmospheres for each occasion. All the rooms have a bathroom, are exterior, spacious and luminous, with a capacity for 4 students who will feel most comfortable.

Food is the fuel and fuel is the key to surfing, playing, having fun and enjoying the camp to the maximum. All our meals are homemade, made with love in the camp kitchen and designed to meet all the nutritional needs of students. A healthy and balanced diet with fresh and seasonal products. Our menus include pasta dishes, rice, lentils, hamburgers, vegetables, salads, fruits...

SURF COURSE AND ACTIVITIES

To say that the students will only learn to surf would be like saying that surfing is just a hobby, but it is much more! That's why we try to transmit all the values of sport, healthy living, companionship and respect for nature that come hand in hand with this legendary lifestyle. Surfing gives the opportunity to discover the sea from another perspective, to respect and know it to be safer, to enjoy with family and friends of the sport, to create a partnership with all other surfers, to get rid of all concerns, to exploit unique sensations of adrenaline and self-improvement, ...

LEVELS

Beginner: Introduction to the world of surfing in a healthy and fun way. Knowledge of the environment: tides, winds, waves, etc; and of the material: boards, neoprene suits, keels, etc. Technique and practice of the different basic surfing skills; entry to the water, rowing, positioning, standing, etc. Safety and hygiene rules.

Intermediate and Improvement: Mark the direction of the wave and slide (right or left). Know and practice the different maneuvers of surfing: cutback, floater, reentry, tubes, aerial and many others. Surf waves according to the level of the student and acquire a higher level.  Safety and hygiene rules.

At all levels photographic and video images will be used to correct errors and to highlight the strengths of each surfer, with the aim of achieving a faster progression, correct and ultimately effective, as well as greater motivation on the part of students.

Characterization of surroundings/region

Alma Surf House is located in Puerto de Vega, a privileged place within the region called Parque Histórico del Navia. As soon as you arrive you will be immersed in the incredible landscape of the fishing village, nature and the Cantabrian Sea. The access to the centre of the village is only 3 minutes on foot, which in summer has a pleasant atmosphere and where we can find all kinds of services available (supermarket, pharmacy, kiosk ...) In addition to less than 5 minutes by car we have the spectacular beaches of Frejulfe, declared a Natural Monument and Barayo classified as a Partial Natural Reserve of the Biosphere.

Ways to get to the camp

Transfer from Oviedo, Gijón and airport to the camp € 25 per way. (If more than one person on the way the cost of the service is shared).

Important details

We don't take security lightly. While we do our best to avoid accidents, it would be negligent to say that they cannot happen. We have a first aid kit at the camp. The health centre is a two-minute walk away in case of need for medical attention and in the unlikely event of a serious emergency the Jarrio hospital is only a 15-minute drive away.
