Summary

We at Arctic Surfers are passionate about exploring Iceland, the land of fire and ice. Our team has been traveling all over Iceland for over 20 years, hunting first lines on fresh powder and pioneering surfing on the island. The journey is not always easy as we work around Mother Nature. Our years of experience allow us to create and alter daily activities affected by weather, swell and snowstorms. With access to our vast network of friends and family all over Iceland we put together the adventure vacation of your dreams in rugged luxury. At Arctic Surfers we pour our heart and soul into building itineraries that transcend the traditional vacation experience. Each trip is custom made to fit each guest. The trip is yours, let us design your adventure. We take you to the far reaches of Iceland to score epic waves, many of which have never been surfed before. Experience surfing on our exceptional island in the North Atlantic sea, where the possibility of never before surfed waves can be a reality.

We embrace the journey as part of the experience, the atmosphere and energy of Mother Nature here is truly unique. We make the journey enjoyable. The goal is always to find the best waves Iceland can offer and along the way, enjoy the wild beauty and natural resources on this island. When the surf is good we know exactly where to find it and where we need to be. Join our guides for a day or more for that Icelandic well kept secret; culture, music, nature, local food. The waves and adventures await you in the land of ice and fire.

ABOUT THE SURF CAMP

LOCATION AND SURF CONDITIONS

All adventure trips and outdoor activities are weather and condition dependent and we reserve the right to change your itinerary or cancel your trip with your safety in mind. Please keep in mind that the weather changes fast on our northern island and with-it conditions change. Our guides are specially trained to deal with changing conditions and their number one priority is to make decisions with your safety in mind. Please respect your guides authority to do so.

Arctic Surfers reserves the right to alter itineraries and/or timetables should it be necessary, due to adverse weather and/or other related conditions.

This is especially valid for winter travel in Iceland. Our summer trips (excluding high alpine trips), operated from June through August, are very rarely adversely affected by harsh weather.

CAMP CHARACTER

We provide a variety of tours for local and traveling surfers of all skill levels. Our trips are designed for the intermediate (meaning the “average” surfer) to expert surfer. Our guided surf tours are not a beginners surf course, basic skills are required. How ever we are always keen on giving good tips and pointers, if we are the better surfer. We do take beginners and do surf school with private groups and on private tours. If you want to get in the water for the first time we can help you make it happen.

CAMP OPERATOR

Ingó Olsen is Arctic Surfers’ founder, chief of operation and the soul of the company. It´s no exaggeration to say that Ingó is a pioneer when it comes to extreme sports and outdoor activities in Iceland. He has been at the forefront of the Icelandic snowboarding scene since the 90s, riding for Burton snowboards in the early days and his natural habitat seems to be on top of a board, be it a skateboard, snowboard or a surfboard. Ingó has worked as an adventure guide of all sorts for over a decade and is licensed to operate a great variety of outdoor activity tours. He always has a plan for exciting adventures along the way, and one of Ingó’s plan B is certainly going to be a treat. Ingó has spent the last 15 years exploring Iceland’s rugged coastline, discovering secret spots and finding new waves and adventures along the way. There is no person better equipped to run a surf tour in Iceland than Ingó Olsen.

Seasonal conditions

All adventure trips and outdoor activities are weather and condition dependent and we reserve the right to change your itinerary or cancel your trip with your safety in mind. Please keep in mind that the weather changes fast on our northern island and with-it conditions change. This is especially valid for winter travel in Iceland. Our summer trips (excluding high alpine trips), operated from June through August, are very rarely adversely affected by harsh weather.

Each season brings something special, winter, summer, spring and fall. Springtime (March-May) is good with lots of consistent swell and the days are getting longer and warmer with amazing light. The summer (June- August) is warmer with light 24/7 though the surf isn´t as consistent as the colder months but summer in Iceland brings out a lot of good things. The fall season (Sept-Nov) has lots of swell and nice weather conditions while winter cold weather is taking over. Wintertime (Dec-Feb) has lots of big swells, amazing light and northern lights to light up the darkness. We surf all year here in Iceland and we can tell you it is not as cold as you think!

Highest water temperatures are during late summer and the fall season with temperatures ranging from 10-14°C. In wintertime the lowest temperatures are around 3-5°C and always colder up north then down south. In spring season and early summer the sea temperatures are 6-9°C. This is nothing to worry about, good gear and some basic know how and knowledge will make this an easy and fun experience.
