ABOUT THE SURF CAMP

We have one left hander wave,Ebay,just in front our doorstep, two more waves within walking distance,Pitstop(right hander) and Beng Bengs(left hander), however everyday we go out,twice per day,with our fast boat looking for the best surfing conditions of the area,this includes a total of about 25 different waves within a maximum of 30 or 40 minutes boat trip.

According with the tide, swell and wind conditions and,obviously, with the needs of our guests every day we will provide the best surfing conditions thanks to our experience and knowledge of the area.

We can accommodate any kind of guests, from kids with their parents to experiences surfers,  it is always possible to find the condition which perfectly fits with the requested or every guest.

Beng Bengs Surf Camp is owned by myself, Cristian Lovaglio, and my friend Massimiliano Vincenti, both of us are from Rome,Italy, and both of us have been brought here on this remote and wonderful place by the love and passion for surfing.... I was peacefully living my life and my job in Italy, travelling from time to time to feed my passion for surfing,until once day of about 15 years ago, I went to canary Island where I met Massimo.

I used to go back there every year, until during one of my holidays there, after a sunset surfing session,we stopped to drink few beers, maybe they were more than just a few, maybe was  due the good session we had, I don't know what happened that day but we ended up to plan this extraordinary Indonesian adventure.... So, in the next two years, I quit my job and we're still here,ready and happy to share our dreams with other people and dreamers.

ACCOMMODATION AND CATERING

Our surf camp consists in a big common house,about 300 square meter, furnished with a total of 4 rooms which can accommodate a maximum of 12 people.

We can accommodate people into 2 shared rooms(1 room has 4 single beds and another one has 2 single beds and 1 bunk bed. Each room= 4 people maximum capacity) or into two double rooms with  double beds(Each Room= 1 or maximum 2 people), all our rooms are equipped with FANS and AIR CONDITIONING, we have a total of 4 western style bathrooms to be shared among all the guests,three of them are equipped with hot water showers and 1  has cold water shower.

We are located on a desert island, there are no shops or restaurants nearby, this is why our package features all the services in such way:

FULL PACKAGE(only available for a minimum group of 3 people)  includes ALL the transports from Padang's airport to the surf camp and back: airport pick up and transfer to/from  the hotel + transfer from/to the hotel to/from the harbor where the ferry is leaving from + fast ferry MENTAWAI FAST's tickets +  Fast boat transfer service from/to Siberut to/from the camp.

Once at the camp the package gives you the right to have accommodation,3 meals per day and 2 daily surfing boat trips.

SURF COURSE AND ACTIVITIES

We offer surf guiding for intermediate to experienced surfer and surf lessons for beginners.

Water temperature is around 28 and 32 degrees all year round

Crowd factor and local people

The season goes from March until October, usually is not so crowded but,when the best known waves of the area are breaking, I mean spots like Kandui or Hideaway or Rifles, it is pretty obvious that most of the people want to go there but, most of the time,especially when there are many waves breaking at the same time, so that there is a bigger choice of spots, it is easy to surf with not much crowd.

Ways to get to the camp

To get to the camp,first of all,you have to arrive to Padang(PDG), West Sumatra,it is reachable from Jakarta(CGK) or Kuala Lumpur(KUL), once you get there you have to take a ferry heading to Siberut, the ferry leaves from Padang three times per week at 7am,this is why it is always mandatory to spend the first night in Padang and then leave the day after while,on the way back, it is highly recommended to sleep another night in Padang or,at least, choose the last flight of the night, however it is always good to keep in mind the schedule of the ferry:

MENTAWAI FAST fast ferry

- Departures from PADANG every Tuesday and saturday at 7am arriving at destination within 6 hours,13:30(1 stop in north Siberut).Every THURSDAY at 7am arriving at destination within 3 hours,10:30am(no stop)

- Departures from  SIBERUT every  tuesday and saturday at 3pm arriving at destination within 3 hours,18:00(no stop,direct to Padang)Every THURSDAY at  12pm arriving at destination at 18:00pm(1 stop in Siberut North)

TICKET PRICE (if not included in the package)= 25usd per person ONE WAY

COST FOR LOADING SURFBOARD BAGS ON THE FERRY (never included in the package): 

20usd for 1 surboard bag within 15kg ONE WAY

35usd for 1 surfboard bag between 15kg and 25kg ONE WAY

55usd for 1 surfboard bag heavier than 25kg ONE WAY 

Important details
For a length of staying of 30 days VISA,for mostly of the worldwide passports, it is free and can be issued at the first Indonesian port of arrival.
