LOCATION AND SURF CONDITIONS

Boa Onda Guesthouse lies in the beautiful Peniche coastline, in a district called Consolacao, less than 2 minutes walk from the beach. 
The house is in a blessed surf area, a mere 2 km walk through the sand is what is needed to reach the world famous Supertubos beach, well known among the worldwide surfers for hosting the World Championship Tour every year in October. Other beautiful rocky bays are within walking distance as well, where you can admire one of the best sea views of the area.
Peniche is not a crazy sand barrels machine only, to the south of Supertubos, a long righthand rocky point and a sandy left with a beginner friendly corner, create the perfect playground for our Surf Center.
Supertubos is not the only spot but one of the many. Every day we check the conditions and we'll bring you to the perfect spot. To the north of Peniche, a long scalloped bay gives to surfers plenty of possibilities in the various wind-waves combo swells
Peniche and Baleal are just 7/10 minutes drive. Bars, restaurants, shops and bus stops are all within short walk distance, a 9 holes golf course is 1 km from us!
We are 20 minutes drive from the beautiful medieval town Obidos, we can arrange a car for you or you can easily go there by bus.
Taste local food (pastel de nata, fresh fish), rent a bike (we have also bike available) and explore the surrounding or arrange your tour to the stunning Berlenga Island (1h by boat).

Our Guesthouse is characterized by a family-like atmosphere, where you can relax, chill do yoga and surf of course. Our target is oriented to have guests aged 25 and over, solo travelers, families, couples and groups of friends. We speak English, French, Italian and of course Portuguese.

Boa Onda is a family!!! A friendly and efficient staff of different nationalities will welcome you to enjoy every second of your holiday. Riccardo, the owner, is a surf teacher and he started to build his dream 3 years ago and step by step now we are one of the best guesthouses of the area improving beginners in the world of surfing. Our yoga teachers are qualified and you will enjoy the wonders of practicing yoga on the beach at sunset.

Daily breakfast is provided during your stay. All meals are in keeping with supporting local producers whenever possible. You will be served with a healthy breakfast with yogurt, milk, (vegan or not) cereals, oats porridge, fresh fruits, eggs, hand-made cakes, coffee, and tea. All guests can use the kettle, toast machine, and coffee machine. In our fully equipped kitchen you will find everything you need to prepare the kind of food you desire.
The Sitting Room Balcony is our little “corner of paradise”, a place where you can enjoy the most beautiful sunsets right on the sea. After a full day spent surfing, a long walk in Obidos, this is the place to chill out, relax and read a good book. Enjoy a drink, the sound of a guitar, the breeze from the sea …Stretch out on a comfortable cushion and listen to the lullaby of the waves. And when after the sunset hunger sets in, you may want to use our barbecue to grill fish, meat or vegetables under the warming light of lanterns and the watchful eye of the moon…

Holidays in Portugal are not complete unless you try to surf! In our surf school in Peniche, we have graduated and professional teachers who know exactly where to find the best waves and best surfing conditions. In case you are a beginner, we will teach you how to surf step by step. And if you already know how to do it, we have some tricks for you to improve and can use video-coaching and photography.
You can book lessons/rent equipment during your stay or in advance.
The surf school’s main goal is all about learning and improvement. The instructors are qualified by major national and international federations they do speak: Italian English French Portuguese Depending on the level of participants and weather and sea conditions, the coach will choose the material and surf spots. Beginners, intermediate or advanced surfers will benefit from training techniques in and out of the water: strengthening exercises, carver skate training, video-coaching are useful tools for improving surf skills. Intermediate and advanced surfers can surf in dreamy uncrowded location thanks to surf guiding. Peniche offers a pretty unique environment for surfing, with two peninsulas and various rocky bays, every day there is a rideable wave on offer.
Sheltered beaches for learners and improvers, powerful waves for experienced and pros. We know the area and we will bring you to your perfect wave. The Peniche area is home to many amazing surf spots to explore. The staff of our surf school in Peniche, helped us to create the perfect surf spots map. 
Surf lessons take two hours, and the group size does not exceed 6 people, that's why our teachers will follow you step by step. Enjoy it!!!

Don’t miss out on our yoga classes in Peniche and treat yourself with a treat! Whether you are sportive or no, yoga is for everyone and rewards both body and soul. The various “asanas” or yoga positions help you improve your body postures and physical well-being in general. Like a surfboard follows the waves, let your body follow your breath and find harmony and flexibility.
Nowadays yoga is really on demand and it scientifically proved that every sport can benefit from this practice. Joints, muscles and ligaments, breathing and mind awareness, yoga is a must for everyone who wants to better his life. No surprise the best surfers in the world, (like Kelly Slater) practice yoga regularly!
Yoga is the practice of combining: body mind breath You will enjoy practicing yoga right at the studio, overlooking the beautiful ocean. There are a variety of styles, there are professional yoga teachers. You will be provided with mats and properties, so you just need to bring comfortable clothes.
HATHA YOGA: Most forms of yoga in the west can be classified as Hatha yoga. Hatha simply refers to the practice of physical yoga postures, meaning your Ashtanga, Vinyasa, Iyengar, and Power yoga classes are all Hatha yoga. The word “Hatha” can be translated two ways; as willful or forceful, or the yoga of activity, and as sun (ha), and moon (tha), the yoga of balance. Hatha practices are designed to align and calm your body, mind, and spirit in preparation for meditation. You can book yoga lessons separately during your stay or in advance, as well as the treatments.

TREATMENTS:
Thai Massage: Your body needs to relieve tension and stress? Treat yourself with a massage! Thai massages have many benefits: elasticity, improved muscle tone, complete body and soul relaxation, improved general well-being and vitality. Our masseurs are graduates from the "Wat Po Thai Traditional Medical School" of Bangkok and offer massages that guarantee you a moment of complete relax.

Osteopathy: Osteopathy is a manual therapy, which aims to improve health and the recovery of injuries by treating the body as a whole using a broad range of techniques (articulation, soft tissue massage, manipulation and more). A treatment consists in a case history, a full body examination, treatment and an exercise plan.

 SURF CONDITIONS

Peniche is not a crazy sand barrels machine only, to the south of Supertubos, in the village of Consolacao, a long righthand rocky point and a sandy left with a beginner friendly corner, create the perfect playground for our Surf Center. To the north of Peniche, a long scalloped bay gives to surfers plenty of possibilities in the various wind-waves combo swells, at the end to the bay another freak of nature, Baleal island. A small island connected to the mainland by a narrow sandy street creates another handful spot to keep the tourists and surf community, well fed!
Seasonal conditions Surf in Peniche is all year round. We have temperate waters that range between 14 and 20 degrees Celsius throughout the year. In the winter the water is cold and we use a 4/3 mm wetsuit. In summer the water is cool and we surf most of the days with a spring suit a 3/2 mm.

Characterization of surroundings/region
The surroundings of our guesthouse offer plenty of things to do and see, besides surfing and yoga. Enjoying the local flavors and nature, exploring it by foot, bicycle or car. We can arrange them all for you while you are here. Don’t miss the opportunity to visit Obidos, one of the top Unesco destinations in Portugal. This medieval village is very rich in history and is 25 Km away from the Guesthouse, this very old town is surrounded by huge stone walls that were used to protect the citizens from fierce invaders during the medieval age. Nowadays Obidos is a major tourist attraction in Portugal. 
The beautiful village of Sintra, famous for its pastry and sightseeing. You will find a fairytale town (world heritage). Palácio da Pena and the Muslim castle are both must-sees in Sintra, as well as Quinta da Regaleira.
Of course don't miss to visit Peniche, surrounded by the ocean with a beautiful working harbor with a marina, where there are daily boat trips to the beautiful Berlengas Islands.
There is also an amazing church in Peniche, the Baroque Misericordia Church in the main square which has a mural on its ceiling depicting scenes from the New Testament.
Next to the harbor, there is a historic fortress with a museum inside, and nearby a picturesque village will fall you in narrow little streets with murales, flowers and stairways that line the cliffs.

Boa Onda Guesthouse is well located within reach of many facilities and amenities.

RESTAURANTS & BARS
Consolacao offers nice cafes, bars and restaurants that offer freshly made snacks, locally caught fish and a variety of beverages. Many of these have stunning views of the bay. Peniche, a small fishing city just 4km (5 minutes drive) from Consolacao offers many restaurants with fantastic food with the best meat, fish and wine Portugal has to offer. Ask our team for a restaurant recommendation, and we’ll be happy to book a table or taxi for your evening out.

SUPERMARKETS
There is a small supermarket 2 minutes walk from the Guesthouse, and larger Supermarkets in nearby Peniche.

BANKS & ATMS
There is an ATM just 10 minutes walk from the Guesthouse.

NIGHTLIFE
During the Summer, Baleal offers fantastic beach-side parties at Bar da Praia, Bar do Bruno and Danau Beach Bar, The Base offers the best cocktails in town. They are 5/10 minutes driving from the guesthouse.

MEDICAL
The nearby city of Peniche has a hospital and several pharmacies that close late at night.

Ways to get to the camp
Lisbon is the closest airport and reach the guesthouse from the airport is really simple. You have to take the metro next to the airport, below is the link to see the map: https://www.metrolisboa.pt/ You have to take the red line from the Airport to Sao Sebastiao and then the blue line to Jardim Zoologico where there is the bus station SETE RIOS. From here you will take your bus to Peniche bus station, from Lisbon SETE RIOS. Here's the timetable: https://www.rede-expressos.pt/  You can buy your ticket online and it costs € 8.60.
Once you know your arrival time, we will be happy to come to pick you up from Peniche bus station.
We provide also a transfer from/to the airport on request.
