LOCATION AND SURF CONDITIONS

Our center is located on Carlota Beach, about 10 minutes walk from the village of Sal Rei. The lessons are done about  50-100 meters to the right  there is a perfect  little wave, knee to shoulder high which is perfect for beginners and medium level surfers.

CAMP CHARACTER

The target group of our camp is 18 +/-30+ we organize kids or girls camps,  the center are new built with a professional service in mind, the Morabeza restaurant, one of the most beautiful places on the island with a welcoming atmosphere,  you can relax under the umbrella and sitting on a  sun lounger or hammock and observe the beautiful landscape of the beach,   ideal for families and groups of friends the average age of the clients is between 16 and 55 years old, the languages used are English, French, German, Italian, Spanish and Portuguese, family friends are allowed at our center.

Dogs only with the use of leash.

In our surf camp a half-board service is provided most  meals are made with local products, namely fresh fish and vegetables. We have special meals for vegetarians or vegan. this information must be provided with the reservation, kitchen is not provided, there are several restaurants nearby and shops to buy food  the prices are little more expensive than the Europe.

SURF COURSE AND ACTIVITIES

SURF COURSE DETAILS

---

The courses are done every day at 9.30 am and 2.30 pm in groups of 4 to 8 people per instructor 2 hours per session 

 

 First day we will choose the right equipment for you. After a theoretical class we will start our adventure at sea, positioning the body on the board and paddling will be our focus on the first day. .

 

Second day we will start to catch waves with the help of the instructor he will indicate which waves you should catch and help by giving you a slight push to enter the wave.

 

Third day we will learn how to catch the waves without the instructor's help positioning in the correct surf zone and paddling at the right time to be able to get up at the moment the wave is going to break.

 

Fourth day we will perfect the placement in the surf zone and paddling to get on the wave at the right time.

 

Fifth day we will learn the technique of catching the wave to the side and know the power zone of the wave to get more speed.

 

We teach in several languages.

SURF MATERIALS

---

The boards for beginner surf courses are soft, neoprene wetsuit and shoes are provided , just bring a towel, sunscreen, water or other drinks, and if you want sunglasses or a cap to protect yourself from the sun.

Use of the equipment outside the course is charged.

 

For intermediate and advanced surfers we have several models and sizes of rigid boards from mini malibu longboards and shortboards.

Breaks directly at the main spot and at nearby spots

About 50-100 meters to the right  there is a perfect little wave, knee to shoulder high mixed with reef and beach break.

Seasonal conditions
The water temperature in winter is 22º and the air 28º the wind is strong from January to the end of March
The water temperature in summer is 24º to 26º and the air 30º to 32º 

Crowd factor and local people
The spot  has several peaks never gets crowded the locals are very friendly and share the waves with others.

Characterization of surroundings/region

Situation
Only 10% of its territory is classified as arable land and the country has limited mineral resources.

Location
Located 500 kilometers from the west coast of Africa, Cape Verde is an archipelago consisting of 10 islands, nine of which are inhabited.

Ilha da Boavista is located 191.5 km from the capital of the archipelago Praia located on the island of Santiago.

Attractions
The most important tourist spots are cabo de santa maria, Viana desert, Santa Monica and Ervatão.

Culture
Criolo people like a good “parody” (party).  Music is part of the Cape Verdian culture, morna, coladeira, batuque, funaná or mazurca, a diversity of styles change depending on the island.

Handicrafts is another important icon, black braided dolls, pictures with beautiful landscapes, miniature houses made from the stone of the Fogo volcano, yellow baskets used to carry cargo on the head, a number of objects that symbolize the daily life of the typical  Cape Verdean.

All islands have their typical dishes, but cachupa is the most common dish where corn is the most used ingredient.

Local population
The local population is calm, living in a serene and peaceful way away from stress, known for their welcoming spirit, because after all, “morabeza” is really Criolo and only those who visit the country understand what it is.

Useful language skills
Criolo is the mother tongue from Portuguese, Portuguese is the second most spoken language followed by Italian due to the strong Italian community on the island and English due to the strong tourist influx.

local currency
The local currency is the Cape Verde Escudo but in all shops, restaurants etc. they accept euros.

The cost of life is average  many products are imported in a restaurant you can spend around 12€ per person, on the imported products have an increase of 30% compared to Europe.

The local hospital have enough conditions to care the tourists in case of in case of accident, on the island have also a private clinic.

It is not necessary any vacine or insurance to travel to Cape Verde.

Important details
The visa is necessary, can be taken at the airport, there is no public transport just taxi with a cost of 10 € the travel time airport to Sal Rei is 10 minutes.
