ABOUT THE SURF CAMP

LOCATION AND SURF CONDITIONS

Depending on the time of the year the direction of the swell, wind and tides, the Costa da Caparica offers waves from 0.5 to 2.0 meters high to the delight of the always perfect locations!
Due to its strong tradition the Caparica Coast is and always will be one of the foremost exponents of surf in Europe, having produced many national and European champions. Often compared to California, Costa Mesa is a dream for beginner, intermediate or professionals surfers.

In addition, we have the Atlantic swells in all directions,

South swell - left for long, hot water
swell west - right and left, several peaks
north swell - conducive to long straight

Wind south - side shore wind brings hot waves long and hot water
cross-wind from the north shore wind direction opens almost left off shore
easterly wind off-shore wind off shore or Terra Mar opens the waves perfectly providing classic tubes and sea.

CAMP CHARACTER

Whatever your preference or budget is, we can provide what is right for you, hostel - or apartment accommodation. The Caparika Surf Tours offers some different programs that can be chosen according to the desires of our guests, depending on the time and availablity. But if you want another kind of program or a special service we can probably adjust to these your wishes as well. We have excellent conditions for surfing, with high quality standards for our accommodation as well.

CAMP OPERATOR

Rui likes big waves and long trips to enhance and challenge his level of surfing, places like Hawaii, Puerto Rico, Mexico, Peru, Chile, Cook Islands, and the Azores!

With over 20 years at the Coast caparica, surfing almost daily and going on different trips, Rui realized it was time to start a project to show the waves of Costa da Caparica and all the other secret spots in the area. For this, we developed a strong local partner in order to provide the best stay, the best waves, the best classes at the best price and with maximum fun. Truly customer focused, Rui wants as much for visitors to surf here as to spend 1 or 2 weeks of vacation in the beautiful area.

ACCOMMODATION AND CATERING

ACCOMMODATION

Our accommodations are only 1 minute walk from the beach. This means you can be in the water and surfing within 2 or 3 minutes of waking up. No complications, no waiting for mini-buses, no holiday time wasted.

Buildings with a large structure and in a vast area, opposite the beach. Including a reception, cloakroom M / F, hot showers, workshop and arrangements for boards, toilets, bar and restaurant.

Whatever your preference or budget we can provide what is right for you, hostel accommodation or apartments accommodation!

CATERING

Three meals are included: Breakfast, Lunch (mostly on the beach) and Dinner! Moreover there are also restaurants close to the accommodations.

GENERAL INFORMATION

Why Surfing is good for you

Surfing is a sport that helps with your balance and is very healthy. After experiencing a week of practice we feel good physically because it is focusing all forms of exercise and fitness into one.

In our Surf School you can learn, practice and perfectionate freely, with hired equipment, individually and in groups, with the monitoring of our teachers. The School teaches to all ages, with regard to safety, health and fellowship through learning, training and improvement of techniques for beginners and advanced surfers.

Surf Tours specializes in the training which can be conducted in areas of the Portuguese coast and the classes at one of the many beaches in the region of Lisbon, from the Algarve to the Costa da Caparica, to Ericeira. By car we seek the best waves and the best time and conditions for practicing the methods of Surf.

Safety above all else, especially with younger

An instructor can only be in charge of a maximum number of students per group, which is between six and eight, depending on the conditions or needs of the moment.
The Surf School is accredited by the Portuguese Surfing Federation.

If you think you want to take it more serious, you can enroll yourself as a practitioner of Surf - student or athlete. For information go on the page of the Portuguese Surfing Federation, where you must make the registration for your membership online.

EQUIPMENT

CAPARIKA has all the necessary materials to practice the sport. The material is included in the package reservation or rented for individually. The boards and facts are chosen by students and teachers according to their size and needs.

COURSES

Beginners Course

After being baptized in the first day, the course begins and you start surfing with instructions. In the lessons you learn the basics of surfing, first security. The equipment used, the techniques of paddling, the “stand up“, like sitting on the board and also the “duckbill“ (to pass the surf). Now look at a summary of the program:

· Introduction to Surf material
· Explanation of the beaches and the ripple currents
· Variety of waves and surfing as left and right
· Safety
· Learning to paddle, to sit and turn the board
· The duckbill / “Duck Dive“ (the wave passing underneath it with the board)
· Put foot on the board (take off)
· Material of a surfboard
· How to be in the line up outside to catch the waves
· Surfing the wall of the wave and turn the botton
· 12 hours of surf lessons / week 1

Post-Beginners Course

For students who have already mastered the basics of surfing, we have lessons for improvement. Now you have a unique style of surfing, and during this new journey you have to achieve the necessary development. At this time you will develop your style and different maneuvers.

Advances Course

Well now just follow your growth as a surfer. How do you know the practice is the most important of all, because the more you practice a particular sport greater the chances of success. In these classes you will improve the technical level of competition.
You should be aware that regular practice is also an incurable benefit for your health.
