It's always been about guests, who became friends, about sharing surf sessions, sunsets or food around a big table. Together, we are a family dedicated to living a relaxed life in the sunshine, close the ocean. Cliff Surf House is a place to create memories, share a passion for surfing, have fun, and build long-lasting friendships.

We believe it’s not only surfing and fascinating nature that counts, but also other travelers to share the extraordinary moments with. Cliff Surf House is designed to make it easy to make new friends you can share your experiences with. Every week we have people traveling alone, but also friends or couples, which are just waiting to get to know you. The average age is 24-35 years. Our guests have an international background, mostly from Europe.

ACCOMMODATION AND CATERING

Are you looking for the perfect Surfhouse in Portugal for your surfing holiday?  Cliff Surf House has got you covered! After 5 seasons in an other house, our new house opened the doors in July 2021 for the very first time. We worked hard to make everything as cosy as possible. We upgraded all our wooden beds to maximise comfort. All our rooms got new and private bathrooms. No matter if you prefer a single room, a double room or a shared room – you decide where you will stay and what accommodation suits your budget and vibe!

Our capacity: We have space for 27 guests per week, in 7 double rooms and 2 shared rooms with bunk beds – all with a private and new renovated bathroom.  All of our rooms are kept in a unique and stylish surf atmosphere. Most of our furniture is handmade by our team. All bedding and bath towels are provided. We want you to feel at home while staying with us! We are not one of those mass-tourist places – at our house, everyone will know your name and you will be part of the Cliff family in no time. Cliff is the perfect Surfhouse in Portugal.

CATERING

We know eating is one of the biggest pleasures. Our homemade food is cooked with love and contains a large range of variety. Getting most of our veggies and fruits straight from our own farm, means best food quality. We buy our fish and meat locally so it’s fresher than you’ll ever imagine. There is also always a vegetarian option, prepared freshly every day.

We serve up a nice breakfast with eggs, fruits, bread, juices, coffee and tea and some other goodies – there is something for everyone.

The highlight of the week: CLIFF SURF BBQ. We turn on the barbecue and put on the tasteful meat and a lot of nice veggies. Can you smell the fire already?

Only the best surf lessons for beginners and intermediates! With 300+ days of amazing waves and un-crowded waters, nearly everyday is ideal for surfing in Santa Cruz. We tailor our surf classes to your demands, whether it’s your very first-time on the water or you are an intermediate looking to take your surfing to the next level. For beginners and intermediate surfers, there are several breaks with soft rolling waves over a sand bottom.   You don’t have to take care of anything, just enjoy your stay with us and let our experienced surf coaches teach you the first steps of surfing. We teach in English – but don’t worry if you don’t speak this language because we always find a way to communicate with you.

Our guest are allocated into groups based on their ability level. As a result you are surfing with others of similar ability, to boost your progress and ensure your safety in the water. We teach maximum five students per surf coach.

Video Analysis
The best way to improve your surfing. Dedicated to developing your surfing, our instructors can help you improve your technique, style as well as positioning. Surf analysis is one of the most effective tools to help you progress and grow as a surfer.

SURF
Surfing is our core (and most beloved) activity.  Our qualified and passionate surf instructors will guide you into fascinating and magic world of surf, where human connects with the Ocean, Nature and other people alike.

STRETCHING

Once a week we offer a stretching class, as it complements surfing perfectly. You will help your body to recover from all activities in the water.

SKATE
Surfskate is a skateboard for surfing on the street! The special front truck allows movements similar to surfing. The movements are absolutely intuitive and easy to learn – we show you how!

TRIPS
Turn head north, turn head south (and east) – you'll find a bunch of world-famous destinations within 1h drive. Let us take you there and show around!

SURFBOARD SHAPER
We have the possibility to visit the local surfboard shaping factory and get interesting insights about how boards are made, the different shapes and materials.

WINE TASTING
Portugal has been too long in the shadow of its more popular touristic neighbors such as Spain or France. Over the past few years, Portugal has been imposing itself as a top wine destination. Try the best wine of our area in Quinta da Almiara.

NAZARÉ
Nazaré hosts one of the two World Surfing League’s Big Wave surfing contests, with waves reaching up to 30 meters during winter. For anyone seeking extreme action, Nazaré is the place where humans push the boundaries of what’s possible.

HORSEBACK RIDING
Portugal is well know for its equestrian traditions, fabulous Lusitano horses and top level classical dressage.

Ways to get to the camp
If you have a reservation in our surf house, we will assure the transfer from Lisbon airport to CLIFF Surf House, an authorized person will be waiting at the airport.

It is also possible to arrive by public transport, the journey takes longer tho. Get in touch and we will send you further details.
