ABOUT THE SURF CAMP

LOCATION AND SURF CONDITIONS

Bairro Alto is Lisbon’s main bar and nightlife area and is a 20-minute drive from the Geckosurfhouse. The centre of Costa da Caparica is a 3-minute drive away and features cafés, shops and restaurants. Belém is a 19-minute drive and has an iconic Tower, scenic Tagus River views, the Berardo Museum and typical shops selling the traditional Pastéis de Belém.

CAMP CHARACTER

Guests can relax in the property, either by taking a refreshing swim in the pool or just lounging in the sun by the green garden. Also available is a shared living room area with sofas, free WiFi and TV. Surfing lessons, Yoga classes, Bicycle rentals are available.

ACCOMMODATION TYPES

The property features accommodation in dormitory rooms or in private twin and double rooms. All rooms feature a view over the pool and access to shared bathroom facilities.

CATERING

Breakfast is included in the room rate and served each morning in the communal dining area of the Gecko. Outdoor barbecue facilities are available for guests to use at their leisure. Packed lunches can be prepared, upon request. The nearby seafront area features several restaurants serving fish and seafood-based delicacies.

SURF COURSE DETAILS

- Surf tour Peniche - 1 person 50€ - 2 person 60€

- Surf tour Ericeira - 1 person 40€ - 2 person 50 €

A standard surf course is 5 days and 1.30 hours per day with a maximum of 5 persons per class.

1 Surf session –  25€ - Includes a 2-hour class.

1 Day  surf course –  45€ - Includes 2 surf classes of 2-hour each. 

Pack 3 Days surf course – 50€ - Includes three classes of 2h over three days.

Pack 5 Days surf course – 75€ - Includes five 2-hour surf classes over 5 days.

Pack 10 classes – 130€ - Includes ten 2-hour classes. Note: All rates include; qualified instructor, surf equipment, insurance coverage & certificate. 

OTHER ACTIVITIES

Yoga classes
Practicing yoga gives you an increased awareness of your own body. In yoga, you are often called upon to make small, subtle movements to improve your alignment. Over time, this will increase your level of comfort in your own body. This can lead to improved posture and greater self-confidence. Translated to surfing, this means better balance on your surfboard, a more rhythmic approach to paddling and moving on the board, as well as an increased awareness of your connection to the water, the waves, and your board.

Bicycle rentals 
Cycling is a fun, efficient and easy way of getting around Caparica.Even if you only pedal around for a few hours, riding a bike is an essential Caparica experience.

Ways to get to the camp
-The Lisbon International Airport is a 20-minute drive from the Geckosurfhouse.
- Airport transfer - 20 €

Taxi
You can buy a Taxi Voucher to Costa da Caparica at the Tourism desk in Lisbon airport or jump in a TAXI at the airport and pay directly to the driver. The trip takes between 30 and 60 minutes depending on the traffic.

AeroBus/Boat/Bus 
You must take a AeroBus (line 1) to Cais do Sodré (final stop of the line), then take a Ferry to Cacilhas  and finally buses 135 or 124 to Costa da Caparica. The trip takes between 90 and 120 minutes  approximately.

Note: Cais do Sodré can be reached from the airport on the subway also. 
  
Bus/Train/Bus 
You can take buses 783 and 744 to  Estação Entrecampos, then take a train of Fertagus company to Pragal station and finally a bus to Costa da Caparica (line 124).The trip takes between 90 and 120 minutes approximately.   

Bus/Bus 
You can take a bus 705 to Roma/Areeiro Station (line 705), then another bus (line 161) to Costa da Caparica. The trip takes between 60 and 90 minutes approximately.
