LOCATION AND SURF CONDITIONS

The Hostel is located in the traditional portuguese village "Hortas do Tabual" right in the Natural Park of the Costa Vicentina.

Plenty of beaches are just around the corner like the famous surfer beach Zavial (2,5km), Ingrina (2,8km) and the Hippie Beach Barranco (3,2km). To the beaches of Sagres and Vila do Bispo you drive 4,7km.

A hidden gem!! The location is superb, close to one of the best beaches. The staff are extremely welcoming and accommodating. Very cute building, well kept, clean, organized and comfortable. Many good restaurants close by. Very tranquil area, away from crowds, with everything you need for a relaxing time. So many great beaches around! Tons of surfing spots. We stayed an extra night because it was such a perfect place!

Bursting with character and life, the hostel offers plenty of space to relax and chill. There is a  selection of spacious bedrooms to choose from, a fully equipped communal kitchen to prepare your own meals and for the colder months - a log fire to warm up the evenings.

Our terraced garden catches the sun throughout the day and offers beautiful views over the hills behind the hostel - you'll find plenty of chill out spaces and hammocks.

Our gardens offer beautiful views over the hills of Hortas do Tabual. Private and secluded with plenty of spaces to relax and soack up the sun.

We can also organise extras such as:

The area around the Hostel is perfect for hiking and mountain biking. A well signed mountainbike trail and the long distance hiking trail "Via Algarviana" are passing the house. The "Rota Vicentina", also a long distance hiking trail, is about 2 kilometers away.

Characterization of surroundings/region

The End Of The Old World: Sagres and the Cabo de Sao Vincente - the former end of the old world - are only 10km away.

Lagos with its awesome restaurants, bars and crazy nightlife is 20 kilometres and easily accessible with several busses running each day running between Lagos and Sagres. Or you use our transport service for an extra fee.

The small village of Raposeira is located 2,4km from the Hostel and has small supermarket providing all your essential goods as well as a few local cafes and restaurants.
Bigger supermarkets are available in Vila do Bispo (4,7 km), Budens (5 km) & Sagres (10km).

Favo Bistro Bar: Great food, events and music, right on the doorstep in Hortas do Tabual.

Ways to get to the camp

The Hostel on the Hill is located in the village of "Hortas do Tabual", between the national road N125 and Zavial beach.

How to get there from Faro:

Take a train (www.cp.pt, about 13 trains/day) or a bus (www.eva-bus.com) from Faro to Lagos. Take the bus from Lagos direction Sagres (www.eva-bus.com) and get off in Raposeira.

Follow the signs to Hortas do Tabual and Zavial beach at the crossing with the traffic lights in Raposeira. You will pass Hortas do Tabual after 2,5 kilometers. Take the first road to the left after you entered the village, pass a big farm house and follow the road down the hill. At the T-crossing you will see buildings. The first house on your right hand side is the Hostel on the Hill.

How to get there from Lisbon:

Take a bus (www.rede-expressos.pt) or a train (www.cp.pt) from Lisbon to Lagos and switch in Lagos to a bus going direction Sagres. Get off in Raposeira.

How to get there from Sagres or Lagos:

There are about 15 busses a day running between Sagres and Lagos (www.eva-bus.com). Just take one of those and get off in Raposeira.

We do pick ups from the busstop in Raposeira for €10 on request and Vila do Bispo for €15. Please let us know your arrival time and contact us for more information.

This room is located on the ground floor of the Hostel. it has a private terrace, two single beds, a big closet and a shared bathroom on the same level.

The 8 bed dorm has 4 single beds and 2 bunks beds. It is located on the top floor of the house and has a prviate terrace with the most beautiful view of the village and surrounding hills. The shared bathroom is just next door.
