LOCATION AND SURF CONDITIONS

Playa Morrillo is only 5 mins away (1.5km) by car from the hotel. Playa Morrillo has what all surfers are looking for, a world class wave and no one but yourself on it!!
People surfing Morrillo commonly state that the wave is world class. Playa Morrillo is the most consistent beach break in the whole of Panama. Surfers come here when there are no waves elsewhere in Panama (at its best at 30cm).
Morrillo is, until recently, a hidden wave and not too far away is another hidden wave- Playa Riena! If Morrillo is too big people go to Playa Riena.
Best periods of the year to surf is summer time between December and April where there is a gentle offshore breeze that makes the wave stand up and prolong its duration.
Stayng at El Sol Morrillo Surfer Rooms you can look at the conditions of the wave from your shower, if it is too big for you, stay in bed or you have other close options to surf. Notably Playa Riena, Palo Seco,  & Playa Malena! And our surf guide can take you to other hidden breaks in the area. Boat trips & stays to Santa Catalina & Playa Grande can be organised for you.
We offer various services for surfers. Lessons & Surf Safaris an be arranged, a surf shop with basic gear is available, & ding repair locally can be arranged.
Two beginner surf boards are free to hotel guests.
If you do not have transport we can organize drop off and pick up at Playa Morrillo and other surf locations in the area.

El Sol Morrillo provides different rooms with different standards. You can Choose by your own, which comford, you want to enjoy.

Surfer Room
Our rooms have been designed especially for surfers and people that would like to live outdoors. Free parking is provided. They have orthopedic beds and are decorated with art. Each room has a private outdoor terrace comprising a wet bar with outdoor sofa and table.
A view of the Morrillo main wave break can be seen from these rooms.
An indoor fans is provided.
All rooms are air conditioned and have a safe. A hammock, outdoor shower facility, & fire pit are provided.

Surfer Twin Room
We can configure a Surfer room into a mixed dormitory room. They have semi orthopedic bunk beds for 2 people.
The room has a private outdoor terrace comprising a wet bar with outdoor sofa and table.
A view of the Morrillo main wave break can be seen from the room.
An indoor fan is provided. The room also has air conditioner and safe. A hammock, outdoor shower, & fire pit are provided.

Executive/Family Room
Our executive rooms are on the top floor of an out building 100 ft from the main building.
It has luxury bathrooms with modern open dressings, king sized memory foam orthopaedic bed and two single beds, Art, Refrigerator, & Safe. Panoramic  views of Morrillo, Los Islotes and the Cerroya Hoya mountains. Also a view of the Morrillo wave is available from these rooms. A general hangout area with hammocks, showering facilities, & a fire pit are provided. BBQ meals can be arranged.

Standard Double Room
We have a single standard room for romantic couples attached to the main building. It has luxury bathroom, orthopaedic  King sized bed, with glass fronted Italian dressing, Art,  Refrigerator, & Safe. Panoramic views of Morrillo, Los Islotes and the Cerroya Hoya mountains.
Room service is available at an additional charge.

Suite
We have a single suite, attached to the main building. The room has luxury bathroom, Italian dressing, Italian designer furniture and fossilized marbled table, two king sized memory foam orthopaedic beds, Refrigerator, Wi-Fi, & Safe. Panoramic views of Morrillo, Los Islotes and the Cerroya Hoya mountains. Access to a small rancho with hammocks are provided for guests with panoramic views.
Room service is available at an additional charge.

CATERING

Our restaurant offers international cuisine: French, Italian, Indian, Thai, & Japanese Kaiseki. Gluten free, Vegetarian and Vegan options are available upon request.
The specialties are Steaks, Hamburgers, and Seafood. We are commited to bringing you the best and juicy steaks and hamburgers.
Vegan & Vegetarian options: We elaborate Japanese, Indian and French recipes with these options for you. Also we provide gluten free pasta for those people having gluten intolerance.
Our fish and shell fish is caught locally we do our utmost to ensure it is prepared using Japanese techniques. A La Plancha and Poached dishes are a specialty.
Presently, we produce our own, quail eggs, free range eggs and chicken in our cooking. We will have Duck, Goose, Guinea Fowl & Rabbit coming for your pleasure.
El Sol Bistro Restaurant has a a Permaculture finca growing vegetables, herbs and spices for the restaurant.

Activities and facilities

Coiba Visiting
Hotel El Sol Morrillo arranges a tailor made visit of Coiba which includes guided hikes across Coiba, Snorkeling, Scuba diving, Sports fishing, Spear fishing, & Whale Watching.
The visit to Coiba is a minimum 2 night stay in a fishing lodge. All rooms have air conditioning and modern comforts.
Prices start from $350/person for a 3 day trip, 2 night stay minimum 6 people.

Turtle Conservation Project Visiting
Visit a Turtle Refuge close to the hotel. Wonderful visit for children and conservationists. The season for turtles is between March and November.
There is a donation given to the conservation effort. In this visit you will work together with the conservationists and get first hand experience of their daily life.
Set loose baby turtles, learn about the different species that come to Panama.
Help in the conservation effort. Collect eggs from mother turtles coming to lay eggs on the beach and placing them into protected nests. Help tag them.

Hotel El Sol Morrillo is situated near Mariato, Torio, Morrillo, Los Islotes and Cerroya. Shopping facilities are nearby. Furthermore, there are small shops available, offering spa as well as surf and fishing equipment.
