The Basque Country and the southern part of the region ‘Les Landes’ are a paradise for surfers. Along the Atlantic coastline one surf spot follows the next one. From Beach break in Anglet to Reef Break in Guethary, there is always a wave to surf regardless of tide, wind, swell and season.

The ever present passion for surfing has travelled my adventurous spirit to many far and hidden corners of the world – always a board under my arm and full of curiosity, ready to share the respective surf culture.

My hunger to travel and surf has never diminished. This made me plunge deep into the knowledge of the diverse cultures about this fantastic sport.  The art of shaping and the craftsmanship in creating boards is what fascinated me the most. I experimented with different boards and technics, always gaining new experiences.

In the traditional martial arts I find inspiration and balance. With this practice I learned to treat my body, mind and spirit with respect.

The ocean and nature in general have been always part of my life and they have awakened a deep connection and love to it - and the desire to move in nature and to grow above my limits. With the degree certificates as a surf life saver, first aider and ‚MovNat‘ trainer I am able to share my passions and to pass on my knowledge.

Jutta : “Yu”

Born in Germany and grown up in Southern France and the Reunion Island I feel at home in two languages and three cultures.

The multiple relocations during my childhood and adolescence have created a strong passion for traveling, but also the desire to create a place which you can truly call home, no matter where this might be. During my travels the places and hosts which gave me this sense of belonging are the once which I always recall.

Welcoming people and caring for them comes effortless for me, its part of my being. This applies for guests, friends, and all people who are crossing my path.

I am passionate about outdoor sports and strive to expand my limits. Further I am convinced that our diet as well as our way of a careful consumerism will have a positive impact on our surrounding nature, which is our playground.

SURF COURSE DETAILS

For intermediate and advanced levels

Take advantage of the experience of a local guide who will know how to find the right spot, at the right tide with the right conditions according to your level! In small groups of 6 people maximum, departure in the morning aboard the 4x4 with the boards chosen in the morning from the Joyu quiver, we check different spots and go surfing together far from the busiest places on the coast in order to take advantage of the waves and discover as many spots as possible. Lunch is on the beach or at the surf house with a delicious homemade lunchbox before going back to surfing in the afternoon.

Included in the surf guiding:

- Board rental (fish, longboard, midlength, etc.)

- For beginners : collective surf class with certified coach.

- We work with carefully selected schools to offer you the best experience to learn in the best conditions. 

- 1H30 per days including board and wetsuit

- 40€/ session (including in the “eat sleep & surf” package)

SURF CONDITIONS

---

Between Bidart and Guethary this wave breaks on a rocky plateau. Parlamentia can be surfed at all tides and any swells. It is well known by the locals for its straight line and length and works even at big swells. Favoured by long boarders it was once the playground of a certain Miki Dora…

Book with peace of mind because you can cancel or modify your reservation free of charge up to 15 days before your arrival!

Can we come with our surfing equipment? - Yes of course and exterior racks are available to store your equipment!

How do you get to Joyu from Biarritz? - If you arrive by plane or train, simply take line 4 towards Hendaye and stop at “la source”

How can we park our car at Joyu? - We have an unloading area in front of the house, but the parking lot is located 20m in front of Picard, it is free and public.

Do you allow children? - We accept minor children under the responsibility of their parents and housed in the same private room.
