Location and surf conditions:
Lucero is located in the center of town of Santa Teresa on a hillside, we are 2 minutes from the supermarket and walking distance to any restaurant and the beach. For lessons we usually go to Playa Hermosa because it’s a great place to learn, only 5 minutes driving up the road.

CAMP CHARACTER

We are a laid back surf camp with an average of 6-8 but no more then 10 people per week. We are family friendly and welcome all ages. We are not a party place but if guests are wanting to go out we’d love to show them where to go and join sometimes. No animals permitted. The main language is English and some Spanish.

Accommodation types:
The hotel has 4 private rooms and 1 one bedroom apartment. All rooms have a private patio or balcony and have space for 1 or 2 people max. The rooms come with ceiling fan and AC. Minid fridge, Safe, wifi and linen from Australia. Towels are provided.There is a pool and a small restaurant/communal area. We are located in the center of town. The hotel is build in typical Spanish style with a more Balinese touch on the inside with a combination of concrete and wood. Rooms are non smoking. We take the environment in account with everything we do. We have toilets that safe water when flushing and change bed-linen once every 3 nights unless you specifically request to have it changed more often. Just to name a few examples.

Breakfast and lunch is included and the welcome & farewell dinner as well. We can cater to vegetarians, vegans and allergies. Menu for the week is available upon arrival. Everyone eats the same meal at night unless you request something different. We have snacks and drinks (including alcoholic drinks) for sale at the restaurant.

Surf course details
Our surf-lessons are 1.5 hours long. With a 2 to 1 ratio, which is best for everyone’s safety. The lessons times change and depend on the tide. We go out around mid-tide. The water is nice and warm. Most of our participants are beginners but intermediate levels are welcome as well. The lessons are in English or can be in Spanish also. You can request only the surf course yes in case you stay somewhere else.

Surf materials
Surfboards, leashes, rash guards, sunscreens are included. When you book a full package you get to use the surf gear whenever you want outside of surf lessons.

OTHER ACTIVITIES

Included is an ATV tour. Additionally you can join yoga, pilates, massages, horseback riding, snorkelday, SUP, zip-line, hikes, cooking courses, fishing kayaking etc.

SURF CONDITIONS

Breaks directly at the main spot and at nearby spots
All sand breaks, there are a few small reef breaks in a neighbor town but it only works on certain swell.

Seasonal conditions
Our water is always warm, and there is always sunshine, parts of the year get rain, September and October are usually the worst.  

Crowd factor and local people
It gets crowded at times in town but there are so many breaks that it doesn’t have to be crowded where you surf. For our lessons we make sure to be in an un-crowded spot. Locals are cool.

JOURNEY

Important details
You can get to us in a few way. First option is to take the public bus from San jose, the bus is direct and goes onto the ferry. The price is about $15. The bus usually leaves at 7 am and 2 pm. The second option is to take a shuttle, the daily shuttle leaves every morning around 7 am and picks you up in your hotel in san jose. It also goes onto the ferry and the price is $50. You can book the shuttle directly with Montezuma Expeditions.  Both the bus and the shuttle take about 4.5 hours The final option is to fly from san jose to Tambor, the flight is only 20 minutes and costs around $120 one way. From Tambor you can take a taxi which is about $50 and takes 40 minutes
