The Manawa Camp offer’s 6 fully equipped apartments with private kitchen, living room and bathroom and several more double ensuites with private bathroom. At Manawa Camp you wil find besides all of these, a swimming pool, chill out room, and a great water sport’s shop that will set you up with Kite, Surf and Stand up paddle board lessons.

ABOUT THE SURF CAMP
LOCATION AND SURF CONDITIONS
Manawa Camp is located in Charneca da Caparica, only 15 minutes south of Lisbon. Costa da Caparica is a beautiful place and offers some of Europe’s best conditions all year around for practising water sports. Whether you’re a beginner or more experienced, there’s definitely something here for you. If you haven’t Surfed, Kite or paddle surf before you will be instructed by some of the best instructors. If you’re experienced you’ll have the possibility to explore the area and its world conditions within walking distance of the camp. We have different accommodation alternatives, so whether you are a couple, a family or a group we have something that will suit your needs. Don’t hesitate to ask if there is something we can help, let us know.
The area receives consistent Atlantic swells and provides great opportunity all year round for both beginners and more experienced levels either for Kitesurf, Paddle board or Surf. Costa da Caparica is a long stretch of uninterrupted sandy beach border by dunes and an extensive pine grove
There are numerous beach breaks along these miles of long beach, fully exposed to the western swell and regularly shifting with the sandbars. No other place in Europe allows regularly surfing great waves in the morning and Kiting with steady winds in the afternoon. Both the air and water temperatures are nice and consistent year round. In the summer (May to September) you can expect air temperatures around 30 degrees and for the winter, no less than 15 degrees.
If you have any energy left after a great day of water sports or sightseeing, the town has lot to offer. You can enjoy anything from quiet bars and cafés to the most amazing sunsets and explore fantastic local restaurants offering a vast choice of great Portuguese gastronomy. There are a few bars in the area and there is always the possibility to catch the transfer to Lisbon for some party!

ACCOMMODATION TYPES

Double rooms are cozy and comfortable they offer natural sunlight throughout the day. You can find a twin or king sized bed,kitchen, bathroom and broadband internet connection. There is also the possibility to add extra beds if you come with children.
Triple room offer´s the perfect solution if you are travelling with friends. Confortable and well equipped with bath/ or shower facilities, available with three separate single beds or with double bed and sofa bed, private kitchen, refrigerator and broadband internet connection.
CATERING
There’s nothing like waking up and getting ready for a beautiful day, hum breakfast it’s ready. Manawa Camp offers a delicious continental breakfast we’re sure will leave your mouth watering. Breakfast starts promptly at 9:00 to 11am.

Kitesurf:
If you are adrenaline junkie and you believe that you’ve tried all the sports, then this experience is tailor made for you! The Manawa’s Kite board programs are designed to help you learn in a safe way and reach your goals as safely and quickly as possible. Your International Kite boarding Organization (IKO) certified instructor will respect your learning rate and take you through all the steps to reach your goals
SURF:
Surfing has something good for everybody, time to grab a board.
At the Manawa Camp surf School our objective it’s exclusively teach and promote the sport of Surfing.
We develop new courses for your abilities and level:
- Beginner
- Intermediate
- Advanced
The School lesson offers a complete method of training with theoretical and warm up exercises. Our Beginner Course includes 5 lessons (1h20 each lesson).
A surf lesson includes all the required material, surfboard leash and wetsuit. Lessons are given with a maximum of 6 students per Instructor. All our instructors are F.P.S. qualified.
Paddlesurf:
Stand up paddle boarding is one of the fastest growing water sports in the Word. Costa da Caparica is one of the best locations to discover this new exhilarating experience. Stand up paddle surfing is a traditional Hawaiian sport which promotes balance, strength and general fitness. It is excellent for surfers and non-surfers alike, as it provides an isometric workout that strengthens your core muscle groups, while giving you a fun and exciting way to view the natural surroundings.
In fact, we are so convinced that you will take to stand up paddle boarding at Manawa’s School that we guarantee you will be paddling by the end of your very first lesson! We would love to introduce you to this amazing new way of enjoying the stunning Costa da Caparica beaches. It’s not all about surf, Costa da Caparica is set to become world famous for stand up paddle boarding too – so get down here and take part in this incredible experience!.
SURF MATERIALS
The Manawa’s Surf Shop has everything you might need while doing your favorite water sports activity! Book surf, paddle or kitesurfing lessons, rent surfboards, kite boards or paddle board, pick up some swimwear like board shorts and cute bikinis, sunglasses, hats, t-shirts and more. Sign up for some of the activities we have to offer!

Breaks directly at the main spot and at nearby spots

JOURNEY
Ways to get to the camp
By bus
The Costa da Caparica bus service is operated by the Transportes Sul do Tejo (TST) and there are two direct services from Lisbon; service 161 and 153. Bus 161 is the better option with a more regular service and a departure every 30 minutes between 8:00 and 18:00. Costa da Caparica bus 161 departs from the Praca do Areeiro in Lisbon and this departure is close to the Areeiro metro station and is on the green metro line. Service 153 departs from the Praca de Espanha, which is served by the blue metro line and the Praca de Espanha metro station. Neither of the departure locations are from regular bus stations but more a conglomeration of many bus stops. This makes identify where the bus will depart from a little tricky especially at Praca do Areeiro, which is a large junction of Lisbon with many streets. Costa da Caparica bus station is east of the main town centre and is within walking distance of the beach. then you stop at Pragal, where you catch a taxi to “Manawa Camp” – Rua de António Flores nº211c – Charneca da Caparica” For the return journey both services (153 and 161) are equally as convenient.
By Ferry
A different option to travel to Costa da Caparica is by a combined ferry and bus journey. The ferry departs from Cais do Sodre ferry, train and metro station (last stop on the green line) and takes 15 minutes to reach Cacilhas ferry terminal where you catch a taxi to “Manawa Camp” – Rua de António Flores nº211c – Charneca da Caparica” . This ferry journey provides fantastic views of historic Lisbon and the suspension bridge. From the Cacilhas ferry terminal catch

Manawa´s transfer
Our private transfers to Costa da Caparica have fixed rates and represent a much faster, affordable and hassle free alternative transport to Manawa Camp. A friendly driver will meet and greet you at Lisbon Airport arrivals hall. He will assist you with all the luggage and guide you to your assigned transfer vehicle. In approximately 25 minutes you will be relaxing at Manawa Camp.
