LOCATION AND SURF CONDITIONS

Ericeira has a beautiful rocky coastline with steep cliffs and lovely sandy beaches. There are many surf spots and the waves are incredible. The surf spots of Ericeira are known by surfers from all over the world and it has been the stage of many world and national competitions. Ericeira has been nominated as a World Surfing Reserve in 2011. It is the first surf spot in Europe and the second place in the world to receive such nomination.
There are reef breaks as well beach breaks. In general our surfing school goes to reef breaks - the best spots for total beginners as well for more experienced / advanced surfers.

You will meet people from all over the world with an age range from 18 - 60+ The yoga vibe connects everyone no matter of age, culture background or being a super experience surfer or just a beginner.

omassim guesthouse is the manifestation of a dream Lia & Eduardo started to visualize in 2007 in the Algarve and found its realization in 2014 in Ericeira – first world surfing reserve. Using up all the skills Eduardo and Lia gained during her life made omassim guesthouse to a unique place it is right now. Besides offering accommodation the guesthouse includes the ancient techniques Yoga & Meditation, Massages and working with fire (Sweatlodge, Firewalking (only upon request).

 Eduardo is responsible for a healthy nourishing treat for your belly and guiding weekly sweat lodge ceremonies, Lia for some dynamic, invigorating and creative Vinyasa Flow Yoga classes and all the organization to make your stay comfortable in a family like athmosphere. Living in Ericeira surfing cannot be missed. Progress Surf School founded by Surfer Pro Joana Andrade and FBoadyboarder Filipe Rastef Henrique offering hands-on surfing lessons promising fun, professionalism and progress.

With Voltaire's saying in mind, which is OMASSIM's main motto, our guesthouse is bright and cheerful, we have single bedroom, 2 bedrooms, triple bedrooms and one 5 bed room available, all shared bathrooms.  Our dining and living room is the perfect meeting point to take breakfast, meals or simply relax and hang out. The garden with a pool (not heated), Hammocks, Sun Chairs is the perfect place to breath, relax, recharge.

Vegetarian / Vegan Food, still for some people considered as boring, monotone meals, becomes a new adventure of textures and flavors at omassim guesthouse. It is impossible to remain indifferent!
We pride ourselves on our outstanding vegetarian buffet. Meals are delicious, diverse, mostly prepared with local ingredients. The cuisine, gourmet international, presents a wide range of healthy and tasteful meals, easily adaptable to the different requirements of our clients, from vegan, egg-dairy-vegetarian, gluten-free, dairy-free. We use good quality seasonal, locally-sourced fruits and vegetables, and according to Eduardo´s words, “cooking and eating are an art”, all the meals are artfully prepared with care, patience, pleasure and love.

Please inform us before your stay about your personal diet and needs.

All rates includes a rich and varied vegetarian breakfast, tasty lunch and a healthy nourishing dinner with a variety of international vegetarian/vegan gourmet food  with fresh ingredients locally sourced, some of them from our organic veggie garden. (please let us know if you have special requests like gluten free or lactose free food, vegan, etc.)

We have different packages including surfing lessons.
the basic package includes a 5 days surfing course with one lesson / day (approx 10 hours)
the intensive package inlcudes a 5 days surfing course with 2 lesson / day (approx. 22 hours)
you are always welcome to join the surfing with one or more surfing lessons during your stay.
the surfing lesson include: transportation, surf board (bodyboard), booties, wetsuit, insurance.

 SURF CONDITIONS

---

Breaks directly at the main spot and at nearby spots

Ribeira D’Ilhas - closest reef break (1 km)
This wave is the most well-known wave of the region. There are several peaks in the bay of Ribeira d ´Ilhas. They are all right handers and there can be found a wave suitable for each level. The bottom is rocky but the waves break in deep water. The waves are known for their length and can be surfed on all tides. It is good to surf here in our company because it gets pretty crowded. Ribeira D´Ilhas is the third wave of the reserve.

Santa Cruz - further away, beach break
Besides these seven waves there are many more waves around Ericeira. One of the beaches we might go to is Santa Cruz. A small coastal town just 20 minutes north from Ericeira.

Coxos - only for advanced surfers, 2 km
Coxos is considered to be the best right hander in Europe because of its consistency, length and perfection. The wave is tubular and breaks over a flat rock. There are many sea urchins so you have to be careful with going in and out of the water. It works best on a low tide and is only suitable for more experienced surfers. Coxos is the sixth wave of the reserve.

The surfing Reserve has seven waves - not all mentioned here -  there are many more waves in Ericeira.

Seasonal conditions
Ericeira waves are surfable during the whole year - the month June - September are more crowded - this is the time our surfing school, when conditions allow, goes to Santa Cruz, bit further away, beach break - less people!

Ericeira is 48 km northwest from Lisbon Airport, 45 km north from Sintra (world heritage town), 15 km from Mafra, easy reachable by public transportation (Metro & Bus) or we can always arrange a personal taxi for you!

Lisbon Airport is the nearest Airpost - it is just 50 km away from Omassim Guesthouse. 

Arrival by Private Transfer
Transfer from and to this airport is available upon request, cost 55€ (from 8h to 20h)/ 60€ (from 20h to 8h) one way
We always try to group people together with similar arrival times to reduce expenses. 

Arrival by Bus
From the airport, there is a sub-way taking you to Campo Grande Bus Terminal. From Campo Grande (Bus and Metro station in Lisbon) are regular Busses to Ericeira. In Ericeira we will need to arrange a pick up to the guesthouse. We are 3.5 km north from Ericeira Centre.

When the conditions not allow us to surf at      Ericeira beaches and we need to go further north or south we ask for a small donation (approx. 5 euro / person) to support the extra costs of transportation.
Friday night is “Dinner-Out-Night” – you can choose join the Surfing School for a group dinner or enjoy a local restaurant in Ericeira or Ribamar. (extra charge)

We normally run week programs, starting every Sunday till Sunday. In general we recommend people to arrive on a Sunday it is always nice to start the experience all together with the welcome dinner on Sunday evening and start the activities on Monday morning. If you wish to arrive on any other day, please contact us!

5 days surfing classes - with personal hands-on-support and photo/video coaching - includes wetsuit, board, transportation and insurance (max. 4 people/ instructor / minimum 2 people)
