ABOUT THE SURF CAMP

Matosinhos is one of the beaches of Portugal most adapted for surfing lessons. It’s ideal for beginners and intermediaries. It’s also characterized by fine white sand and drinking water. Close to hundreds of bars and restaurants of seafood, one of the landmarks of Matosinhos, thus becomes one of the places highly visited during the summer.

Its main mission is to make our athletes evolve as surfers and human beings. In this plan, the academic and educational performance becomes preponderant. In all these aspects, according to the results, school marks, behavior and performance in training and competitions, surfers will be awarded or penalized.

In its totality, it is composed of 7 classes, which are differentiated by gender, male and female, and technical-tactical level.

It starts in Groms 2 / Girls 2 and goes to the competition groups.

The program consists of weekly technical-tactical training and physical preparation.
As Surf is a sport that depends on several external factors, such as waves, wind and tides, physical preparation plays a fundamental role, for which we have 1 functional training (adapted to the age and physical characteristics of the athletes) and one surfing specific to surfers per week.

For the more advanced levels, when there is no need for surfers to have the teacher in the water, our methodology consists of recording the training sessions and, later, analyzing the images with our students. In this way, they can see what they have to improve.

When the sea is not able to practice surfing, the technical training in water is replaced by skateboarding.

In our facilities, we have a "mini-halfpipe" ramp that is very similar to surfing on the waves due to its inclined plane and the number of repetitions of technical gestures is very high, which allows a greater evolution of our athletes.

In addition to the normal training register, during the school holidays, we have a more intensive register, called Surf Clinics, in which the athletes are in our company from 9am to 6pm and have 2 surfing and one skate training per day. The beaches are always chosen according to the best conditions and level of the surfers.

ACCOMMODATION AND CATERING

OPORTOCEAN HOSTEL, one of the newest hostels in the Portuguese city of Porto, is based on an innovative concept which allows our guests to enjoy the fantastic northern Portuguese beaches and, at the same time, discover the hidden gem that is Porto and the rich culture of this region.

OPORTOCEAN HOSTEL is located just 800 meters (approximately 875 yards) from the beach and on walking distance of the City Park. This makes it easy for us to provide our guests with a series of both sports and cultural activities. Every activity provided by OPORTOCEAN HOSTEL is properly monitored by qualified professionals who will make sure our guests take part in adventures they will never forget.

The privileged location of OPORTOCEAN HOSTEL also grants our guests with easy access to the city centre thanks to several modern and efficient public transportation networks. In here, you will be able to visit countless historically-relevant places, take part in Porto’s trendy Movida, and savour the dishes and wines which are so characteristic of this beautiful and mysterious city.

All Surf Camps Porto programs include a teacher in charge of the surf and SUP classes that will show you the best spots, teach you the technique and give you the tips that everyone would like to know. Programs are indicated both for practitioners of the modality and for those who want to have first contact with it. A perfect symbiosis between nature, sports and gastronomy.

Escape the chaos of the everyday life and come and experience a weekend or a week at Oporto Ocean Hostel. We pick you up at the airport Francisco Sá Carneiro, in Porto, and take you to our surf school on the beach in Matosinhos. We can also leave you directly in the Hostel, five minutes away from the beach. During the day you will learn how to surf as a pro, and at night, relax in the Hostel or have fun in the historic city centre of Porto.

Breakfast at the Hostel

Meals
Lunch will be between 1:00 pm and 2:00 p.m., students are always accompanied to the Restaurant (5 minutes walk from the School) by the coordinators and monitors. The lunch menu consists of: soup, main course of fish or meat, water and dessert sweet or fruit.

The afternoon snack will be offered by Surf School.

The Surf School provides all the necessary material for the activities.
Participants should come with fresh and sporty clothing, slippers (essential for skate classes and other activities in the sand), cap, sunscreen, changes of underwear (after surf class), mid-morning snack (light, not conditioning activities) and water. The Surf School provides lockers for personal belongings.

On the first day of activity, we offer a T-shirt to identify the Onda Pura Holiday Fields, for daily use.
