The Maceda Surfcamp is located just on the Maceda natural park and a few minutes from  wild and well-preserved uncrowded beaches. You can walk, ride a bicycle or take a lift on our van or our 4x4. The Surfcamp is near the traditional fishing villages,Furadouro, Cortegaça and Esmoriz.
The most amazing city in Portugal, Porto, is just 30 minutes away by car. It also near the beautiful city of Aveiro, just 30 kms far. The surfhouse is a place where people from all over the world can enjoy the surf experience,have fun, meet people, exchange experiences and relax.
Maceda beach has 8km of sand and it is in the middle of recognized surf spots: from Espinho to Aveiro we have the best surf in the center/North of Portugal. With a peaceful and friendly environment, where Portuguese traditions are still alive but the parties are not forgotten, Maceda Surfcamp is a place where you can enjoy the pure feeling of surf.

João Diogo (JD, Johny D) started his surfing career in 1980, on the northern surf beaches of Matosinhos, Porto, Azurara, Moledo do Minho, Maceda, Cortegaça, Esmoriz and Espinho. In 1994, he had to leave his career as a competitor and began a new phase of his life, as a surfing teacher.
Surfing Life Club is the pioneer surf school in Portugal. In its first years, it was recognized as “the original mobile surf school” on the Portuguese beaches, operating since 1994.
Travelling around Portugal searching for the perfect wave, JD met a lot of friends, like Bruno Rodrigues , Peste, Paulo, Afonso, Antonio Mamede, Sofia Valente. Now they are all part of the Surfin life Club team, as well as JD’s wife,  who also feel in love with her husband’s passion.
When JD went on his 1st surf trip around the world and cross Australia, he wanted to bring to Portugal the Australian motto "life is a beach", and opened  his surf school in Porto. It had a great success, and now it is almost 20 years.
Since that time, we've seen thousands of surf schools arriving to the Portuguese beaches, and surfing is now one of the 1st Portuguese hobbies to do in Porto. The dream became reality!

Surf Camp Maceda
Maceda surfcamp is a warm and friendly surfcamp that welcomes travellers from all over the world. Guests can relax in our chill out room, complete with comfy sofas and a library. You can also catch up with friends and family in the internet: Wi-Fi access is available throughout the property.
The surfcamp is a ground floor house, it has a gorgeous garden with lots of fruit trees where you can relax after a surf session, have a cold shower in a hot day or simply read a good book. We alsohave a kitchen fully equipped, with lunch/dinner available, where guests can make themselves a hearty meal or a quick snack.
A surf destination for surfers outside and inside of Europe. The North of Portugal offers a great variety of waves, which make it an ideal surfing hotspot for surfers of all levels. The Porto surfers come to our surfcamp for surf, it has the best waves around Porto, it has forest, wildness beaches and people who are glad to get out from the busy city.

Ah Surfing in Porto!A slightly different concept to start your surf adventures, only possible because we’re in Porto.
The Surf Hostel is located 5 minutes walking from the beach. It is a big Villa (an old family house) that has been renovated in 2010. It is an amazing place to be, where you can make lots of new friends and have a great time surfing and relaxing in a familiar environment. We are located where there are 60 km of surf spots for all types of surfers and  all types of waves. In the surroundings you can find cheap or more fancy restaurants, bars where you can enjoy a good drink watching the sunset. You can also join us at our weekly parties at the hostel - usually the house is full of friendly people!

Surfhouse
Looking for a special place to rent, for a family who love to surf and have fun?
Enjoy the surfer lifestyle with the best commodities of a really surf house! The house has 3 rooms, in a maximum of 10 people capacity, one independent kitchen, one dining and  chill out room, two bathrooms and a terrace for barbeques and relaxing. It also has a special place for your surfboards and wetsuits. You can rent only the surf house, or the special package with a special offer in the surf lessons.
30km of sandy beach, from Espinho to Furadouro.

Bed & Breakfast
If you are an advanced surfer and you are looking for a place to stay with bed & breakfast you can choose between a 4 mix dorm and a double/triple private room with shared bathroom. Includes breakfast with fresh fruit!

Characterization of surroundings/region

Porto is a city full of life, famous for its 6 bridges and the Porto wine. Come and meet our university city, the streets with centuries of History, and hang out in the best dance clubs and pubs. Considered World Heritage by UNESCO, it is also one of the top ten destinations in Europe, recommended by the Lonely Planet Book. It used to be one of the last undiscovered touristic European cities, but now things are changing. There are now direct flights from New York and numerous connections to and from the rest of Europe, including an increasing number of low-cost airlines.
A city with a valuable history and tradition. It is a highly atmospheric place that has become known for its monuments by renowned architects (Gustave Eiffel's - Dona Maria Bridge, Nicolau Nasoni - Clérigos Tower, Rem Koolhaas' - Casa da Música, or Siza Vieira's - Serralves Museum). Heres was born one of world history's legendary figures, Prince Henry the Navigator. You'll either see in new guidebooks that it is also the birthplace of that world-famous fictional character, Harry Potter – the author, J. K. Rowling, was living in Porto as an English teacher when she started writing her first book. These are just a few curious facts about this intriguing and majestic city. A lot to discover!
Porto is also recognized as the city of surfbeaches. Our school has the perfect spot in the beach, offering comfortable changing rooms, hot showers and a classroom where the students can watch and analyse the videos of the surf classes. We also present surf workshops (including ding repairs), activities with children, as well as birthday and bachelor parties. A slightly different concept to start your surf adventures - and it is only possible because we are in Porto. This is the perfect way to experience the city, and to immerse in the surfing lifestyle!

Ways to get to the camp

From Porto: take train from Porto city center São Bento or Campanhã train station and take direction to Carvalheira-Maceda timetables booking
When you arrive in the station call us to pick you up or you can walk here, it's only 5 minutes away. Start walking to opposite direction of the supermarket and turn left from the first intersection that says praia de maceda. You will recognize the hostel from a palm tree in the front.
