At Selina Surf Club we teach surfers of all levels. We provide surf lessons for those who want to learn how to step on to the water and surfers that want to improve having more speed and control in the green waves. Also for advanced surfers who wants to go one step further in their technique and style. Professional and experienced surf teachers coach you. They will get you to that next level and help you get the most from your surfing. We use the latest and most advanced equipments to provide the best feeling ever, all the lessons include surfboard and all equipment needed.

Selina Surf Club Montañita is located in Montañita beach spot. Montañita beach has incredible year round surf conditions for all surfing levels, probably one of the best places worldwide to improve your surfing or learn to surf for the first time. Just 10- 15 minutes of rest of the most importants spots in the area.     Montañita area is a consistent spot there is no doubt that is one of the best places to begin your surfing journey. Beginners can learn to ride here and veterans can get their groove back. Montañita has the best rights of the continent, is the perfect place where sports fans can find the best beach for surfing with waves reaching up to three meters high. Strong, consistent waves and good tubes make Montañita a great place to live a surfer lifestyle. Ecuador surfing is definitely recommended and for the adventurous it could be the trip of a lifetime.

SURROUNDINGS / REGION

Montañita is a small coastal town in Ecuador located in the Parrish of Manglaralto in the province of Santa Elena about 180 kilometers northwest of Guayaquil. Montañita can be traslated as "little hill", it became famous very slowly, decades ago, as a place only for surfing, with only a few rustic fishermen houses and one or two surfers tent on summer time.

Montañita was and is nowadays the place where many foreign people link with the hippie movement. A popular destination for surfers from around the world and considered one of the best beaches in Ecuador's south coast, plenty of shops, restaurants, bars, parties and reggae music! Montañita's economy is based in tourism and fishing, mainly with respect to food service, surfing, and craft sales. Each February during Carnival, Montañita hosts an international surfing competition.

Ways to get to the camp

Private transportation: 10 hrs by car from Quito and 2,5 hrs from Guayaquil.

Public transportation: From Guayaquil Terminal to Montañita there are direct buses every day. Taxi from Quito $300, and taxi from Guayaquil $100.

By plain: flight from Quito to Guayaquil (40 minutes) and from Guayaquil to Montañita, taxi, bus or rental car.

Nearby airports to Montañita: Quito to Guayaquil by plain (40 minutes) and Guayaquil to Montañita by car (2,30hrs). Book your Selina Surf Club airport transfer.

What do I have to consider when arriving?

Formalities: No visa for stays of less than 90 days.

the capital of Ecuador is Quito the official language is Spanish, the second language is English

Health: Yellow fever, Hepatitis A & B vaccines are required to enter Ecuador (Nevertheless, think about taking a treatment against malaria if you wish to hazard in the jungle)

Weather: Ecuador is a tropical country and only has two seasons: humid and dry. The dry season usually lasts from the end of December to mid-April. The wet season lasts the rest of the year. The Caribbean coast remains humid all year long. Temperatures not change too much.

Water/Electricity: Do not drink the tap water and bring along medicine for intestinal problems. Use an American outlet with flat connections because the electric current is 110 V.

Currency: The local currency is Sucre (ESC) but it is not exportable. We recommend
you to have US dollars in small denominations and change on the way there. Credit cards
are not accepted everywhere.
