Selina Porto is located at the center of the city, steps away from restaurants, cafés, beautiful and quirky houses, and at walking distance from most of the city’s points of interest. Enjoy the Selina community in the heart of all the action!

Matosinhos is the nearest and best surf option for Surfers in this área, about 30km south we can find Espinho, also a surf/bodyboard spot.

Beginners:
If you have never surfed before the beaches of Porto are the place to be.

Intermediates:
Intermediates can also have fun on the beach breaks of Matosinhos and more to the south to Espinho and Esmoriz.

Experienced surfers:
For experienced surfers,  Matosinhos is also the place, between march and october is a privileged destination.

MORE INFO, HOW TO GET THERE & FAQ

Matosinhos is  consistent  all year-round surf destination.  However between march and october you find the best conditions.  During summer time Paddle Surf is a very good option for our guests.

Please note that in this part of the Atlantic you always have to wear a wetsuit due to the water temperature. A 3/2 (mm) wetsuit is advised from May to November. During the winter months, you should go for a 4/3 wetsuit and booties.

November to April can be considered as rainy season with up to 15 rainy days per month. June, July and August are usually the driest months of the year. Due to the micro climate it is often foggy in the morning, even in summer months. The average relative humidity is between 65% in summer and 78% in winter.

Matosinhos is in an urban center and nearby you can find some different regions and things to do and visit.

Guimaraes is a charming and historic city that makes for a fascinating day trip from Porto. Guimaraes is regarded as the birthplace of Portugal and this extensive history is reflected in the variety of national monuments and historic buildings found within the city.

Braga is a wonderful tourist destination that combines history and culture, with numerous outstanding tourist attractions. The city is often regarded as the religious centre of Portugal, and this is confirmed every hour when a cacophony of different church bells ring-out.

Situated on the edge of an extensive coastal lagoon system, Aveiro (uh-vey-roo) is a prosperous town with a good-looking centre and a youthful, energetic buzz. It's occasionally dubbed the Venice of Portugal thanks to its small network of picturesque canals. But where the Italian city has gondolas, Aveiro has moliceiros – colourful boats traditionally used for seaweed-harvesting but now used for canal cruises.

Around 280km from Oporto is a very popular destination in Galicia Spain. World Heritage Site since 1985, for centuries Santiago de Compostela  has attracted visitors and pilgrims from all over the world. It is Galicia's most cosmopolitan city, but it takes it in a matter-of-fact way, which is why from the very beginning you feel like you are a part of it

Important details

To enter Portugal, you may need a Passport and/or a Visa, depending on the country you live in. Citizens from the European Community don’t need a Visa for entering Portugal. Portugal is also a signatory to the 1995 Schengen Agreement.

Passports must be valid for up to six months (depending on your nationality) and are required by all, except by European Union nationals and nationals of Iceland, Liechtenstein, Malta, Norway and Switzerland holding valid national ID cards. British, Australian, Canadian, American and Japanese need a valid passport.

Although it is not obligatory to have a return ticket, it is advisable to have one because, if you don’t, you may have to prove sufficient means of financial support to return. The capital of Portugal is Lisbon.

Language: the official language is Portuguese.

Nearby airports: Francisco Sá Carneiro Oporto International Airport is a 20min ride.

Water/Electricity: You can drink the tap water in Portugal. It isn't as nice as tap water from other parts of the world (Ireland and Scotland, for example), but it's perfectly safe to drink. In Portugal the power plugs and sockets are of type F. The standard voltage is 230 V and the standard frequency is 50 Hz.

Currency: The local currency is Euros (EUR). Credit cards are not accepted everywhere.
