Puerto Escondido surf is some of the best around, and Selina Surf Club is perfectly positioned to take full advantage of it. Our surf instructors are passionate about taking your surfing skills to the next level. When you need a break from the board, there are a ton of other things to do here. Discover life in the local markets on a walking tour, or paddle off into the sunset with a canoe tour at dusk. There are lots of day trips available, as well as adventures through nature with canopy tours, ziplining, and more. This city is easily the chillest place in Mexico. Not only are the beaches top of the line, Escondido is a food lover’s paradise with plenty to choose, from mole to chapulines, if you’re brave. SURF CONDITIONS

Puerto Escondido is one of the best surf destinations in the world and one of the best destinations for surfing in Mexico. Waves are huge and spectacular barrels break powerful on Playa Zicatela (Zicatela beach is considered a wave for advanced surfers). Other famous spots in the area: La Punta (lefts waves) and Colotepec (rivermouth beachbreak) Some of the time the combination of wind and swell is far from ideal!

Puerto Escondido surfing is definitely recommended and for the adventurous it could be the trip of a lifetime.

Wet Season: May-September

Major Swells: April to October is considered the prime surf season but you can find year-round surf conditions in Puerto Escondido.

Private transportation: From Aeropuerto Internacional de Puerto Escondido by taxi: $15

Public transportation: From Aeropuerto Internacional de Puerto Escondido by shared shuttle: $3

By bus from Mexico City (12-15hrs) $40-$50 approx.

By airplane: from Mexico City (1,3hrs) $150-$200 approx.

Important details

Formalities: No visa for stays of less than 180 days. $22 entry fee tax, airlines normally collects the fee.
For countries that don’t need a visa, a Mexico Visitor’s Permit (FMM) will need to be filled out in place of a visa. This is a simple form, you can acquire one at all airports, as well as land border crossings and sea ports of entry. The capital is Ciudad de México.

Language: The official language is Spanish. Second language: English.

Health: To enter in Mexico is required to have the yellow fever vaccine.

Time differences: GTM-7 hours in summer.

Weather: Mexico has two seasons: humid and dry. The dry season usually lasts from the end of November to April. The wet season lasts the rest of the year. Temperatures in Puerto Escondido are fairly constant year round and vary solely as a function of elevation.

Nearby airports to Selina Puerto Escondido: Puerto Escondido Aeropuerto Internacional: 12minutes (by car), Mexico City (1,30hrs by plain and 11,30hrs by car).

Water/Electricity: Do not drink the tap water and bring along medicine for intestinal problems. Use an American outlet with flat connections because the electric current is 110 V.

Currency: The local currency is Pesos (MXN) but it is not exportable. We recommend you to have pesos in small denominations and change on the way there. Credit cards are not accepted everywhere.
