Michelle Davy started surfing in her early twenties and 2 years later, left her career as Marketing Manager to embark on a four year global sojourn that took her to some of the best surf breaks in the world from California, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Chile, Mexico, Panama, Indonesia, Australia and New Zealand. Wildly passionate about spreading the incredible feeling of ‘stoke’ which changed her lifestyle and sharing the unique South African beach culture with locals and foreigners alike, Michelle returned to South Africa to start Stoked School of Surf. She combines the knowledge gained from her Sports Science degree with her SSA surf coach accreditation and lifeguarding skills to offer professional, personalised coaching in a relaxed, fun environment.

ACCOMMODATION TYPES

All our accommodation is set in shared dorm arrangements with shared bathrooms, we can offer private rooms if required.

As our camps are at varies locations please see below for a description of each particular camp:

2 and 5 day camps:
Backpackers overlooking the beach roughly 45 min from the city,easy accessible by train and to other points of interest.
Trendy market, food stores, restaurants in the area.

3 day camp:
We stay at a private beach accommodation 2 hours away from Cape Town. There will be time to go to the shops, but no shops, restaurants in the area.

7 day camp:
This combo of the ‘Uber-Stoked’ 4-lesson package and seven nights accommodation is perfect for those wanting to learn how to surf whilst tapping into the pulse of the vibrant Cape Town city.

Camp mornings are starting with a breakfast. Depending on the trip there will be snacks, drinks, lunch and dinner included. There will be always a Kitchen where you can prepare something just in case.

SURF COURSE DETAILS

---

Learn to surf at one of the beautiful beaches along Cape Town's picturesque coastline. A surf lesson by qualified surf coaches includes use of a comfy, warm wetsuit, surfboard and guarantees 100% 'stoke'.

We cover everything from surf safety and ocean awareness, to paddling technique, how to stand up and surf the waves, turning and trimming green waves to wave selection and rules of the surf.

We will pick you up from your accommodation (pick up from the city is ONLY WITHIN A 10KM RADIUS) and transport you to the beach with the most ideal wind and swell conditions on the day of your lesson. If you opt for the self-drive option, we will send details 24 hours in advance of where and when to meet us.Upon arrival at the beach we will change into our wetsuits and hit the surf for our lesson.

 Table Mountain National Park defines the city. The flat-topped mountain is the headline act, but there are many other equally gorgeous natural landscapes within the park’s extensive boundaries. Cultivated areas, such as the historic Company’s Gardens Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens, and Green Point Park, also make exploring the city a pleasure. Follow the lead of locals by taking full advantage of the abundant outdoors.

Ways to get to the camp

We will pick you up from your accommodation and transport you to the beach with the most ideal wind and swell conditions on the day of your lesson. If you opt for the self-drive option, we will send details 24 hours in advance of where and when to meet us.

The following is the pick up schedule, please note the suburb your lodging is located to determine your pick up time:

Camps Bay: 8:00-8:15am

City & Sea Point : 8:15-8:30am

Green Point: 8:30-8:45am

Woodstock & Observatory: 8:45-9:00am

PACKAGE A - UBER-FLEX SURF & STAY - from R4350 per person/ per week

This combo of the 4 lesson surf and seven nights accommodation is perfect for those wanting to learn how to surf whilst tapping into the pulse of the vibrant Cape Town city.

The Cape Peninsula offers several beaches that have suitable waves for beginner surfers. You will be based at lodging in the trendy Kloof Street area that is within walking distance of a variety of many great restuarants, local fashion stores and the famed ‘Long Street’. We will collect you from your accommodation and transport you to the beach with the best surf conditions on the day of your lesson. The surf lessons are progressive teaching you everything from how to paddle and stand up, to trimming and riding the face of a green wave. We ensure that you are surfing the best waves on the day of your lesson providing you with the most enjoyable learn-to-surf experience.
The surf lessons will take up 4 x half days of your stay, leaving you with 2 x full days and 4 x half days to partake in other optional adventure activities such as paragliding, abseiling, hiking or sightseeing activities such as visiting Table Mountain, wine tasting, Cape Peninsula tours, a visit to Robben Island etc.  We can assist you with booking any of these additional activities.

Once you have confirmed your travel dates, we will ensure that the necessary accommodation and lesson bookings are made. For this option you are flexible to let us know which of the four days during your stay you wish to surf (or leave it up to us to decide when we think conditions are best). This package can be booked year round (subject to availability).
