ABOUT THE SURF CAMP

Surf House Helena is located in Baleal, a small coastal village 5 km from Peniche and 90 km north of Lisbon. 
A seemingly limitless expanse of golden sands, guarded by dunes and cliffs of various tones, creates a landscape with something truly magical.
Baleal and Peniche, two peninsulas, offer a north and south-facing coastline with a mixture of sandy and rock bottom beaches. The result is the finest surfing conditions practically every day regardless of the swell and wind direction. Whether you are a beginner or an experienced surfer – you will find a beach where the wind will be offshore and waves will be good.

Here the quality of surf lessons and their safety is the priority, therefore there are never more than 6 students per instructor, a special insurance covers surf related accidents during the lesson and a selection of quality surf equipment is provided.
Surf lessons in Silver Coast are suitable for all ages and abilities. It’s never too early or late to learn to surf, or improve your technique on a board.

ACCOMMODATION AND CATERING

Surf House Helena is a perfect place for an unforgettable surfing holiday. It is located just a 5 minute walk from various surf spots of Baleal and a 5 minute drive from Peniche. Within a 15 km distance it is possible to surf a great diversity of waves renowned for their quality and consistency.
The apartments of the surf house are surrounded by lush green where you can find a cozy barbecue area with wooden tables. Enjoy your time in a relaxed atmosphere while preparing your meal and sharing an experience of a surfing day full of good emotions. It’s lovely to sunbathe, read a favorite book or practice yoga on an extensive sun terrace on the rooftop. During lazy days our guests can also have a massage or just simply relax in a hammock or deck chair and do nothing at all.
The accommodation in our apartments is shared. There are rooms for 2, 3 or 4 people with a private or shared bathroom and a spacious kitchen in every apartment. All the kitchens are fully equipped with everything needed for our guests to prepare their own meals. Our accommodation is also perfect for groups of friends or families with children that would like to reserve a private room or the whole apartment. Free wireless internet is available in all the apartments and the surrounding area. The comfort and wellbeing of our guests is our priority, therefore the apartments and green area are well maintained and cleaned regularly.

SURF COURSE AND ACTIVITIES

For those who would like to learn how to surf or improve their surfing skills Silver Coast surf school is conveniently located in our surf house. The school has a team of professional surf instructors certified by the Portuguese Surfing Federation.
The classes are delivered in safe surfing conditions, always in the spot where the waves are best suited to the students’ level of surfing.
Surf lessons can start on any day of the week (if you have some experience). If you are a beginner, should start on a Monday. Group surf lessons include 2 surf sessions a day; there also exist a possibility to have private surf lessons.

There is the possibility to rent the surfboard and the wetsuit of the Surfcamp.

Activities and facilities
You will find a variety of bars, restaurants, surf shops and a supermarket close by – everything within 5-15 minutes of walking. In a small village of Ferrel, just 500 meters from the surf house, there are small shops, cafés, bakeries, pharmacies and several restaurants as well.

Ways to get to the camp
Lisbon airport is the nearest to us and is located 90 km north of Peniche.
It’s rather easy to come to Peniche by bus through a company Rede Expressos that provides a Lisbon – Peniche – Lisbon trip many times per day. The buses leave from the bus station Sete Rios in Lisbon. In order to get to this bus station you can take an AeroBus or metro (till Jardim Zoológico station) in Lisbon airport. Rede Expressos bus ticket costs 9 € and it takes around 1h35 to come to Peniche.
Upon arrival to Peniche, out guests can take a taxi at the bus station or call us to pick them up for free (in case of at least 7 nights’ reservation of our accommodation in the surf house).

You can also pick up your rental car directly from Lisbon Airport or use our airport transfer service that guarantees a convenient and comfortable ride to Surf House Helena.
