Our two-storey Restaurant Mediterraneo has a spectacular terrace overlooking the sea, and is open for Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner. 
Everything is homemade here, including bread, pasta, Romagnola piadina (flat bread typical of Italy’s Emilia Romagna region),and desserts. You will find a very friendly atmosphere where Tropical elements combined all together create a nice environment for your a special dinner. Choose from our menu among the several salads, or different kind of pasta as spaghetti, ravioli, tagliatelle…seasoned with the seafood.

This is not just a lesson: it is the first step in surfing. Our programs are created in order to surf everyday and get time to enjoy  the caribbean lifestyle. 
Learn to surf in the warm tropical waters of Costa Rica with the help of our friendly and experienced staff. You will learn the basics of paddling, standing, and turning, as well as wave selection and other fundamental skills. We have to warn you though: Surfing is addictive! Our lesson begins on the beach with some theory and practicing the right movements and the position you have to use on the board. Then we go into the water and start surfing! 
New, high quality surfboards are included with instruction for use only during the lesson. Lessons are generally on longboards for beginner surfers, and we do have some foam boards for younger surfers.
In this price is included a CD with the picture of your surfing lessons so that you can share it with friends and you can see yourself surfing.

Seasonal conditions
The Caribbean coast is known for having a rasta-mentality, but it also has a strong native culture. The air is hot all year round, the water warm, and the best time for waves is January to April. All the beaches are popular with the locals on the weekends. You will have a great time.

Characterization of surroundings/region
Totem Hotel is located Beach Front in Cocles Beach, just 1,5 km from Puerto Viejo of Talamanca, a Small Village known for its mixture of indios Brì Brì and Caribbean black culture, sheltered by Gandoca-Manzanillo natural reserve on the brink of the Panamanian border. All the wonders of “Primordial Tropical Paradise” can be found here. Palm trees swinging on tranquil beaches, the tones of purple, orange and red merging into the sea at sunset, accompanied by a soundtrack of reggae, calypso music and exotic birdsong.
Something more on Puerto Viejo before reading our Offer A Small Village located in the extreme Southern Caribbean, inhabited by many Jamaican immigrants during the last century were brought to this land to build the railroad, their children and grandchildren. That was Puerto Viejo until the late eighties, when began to arrive at these fabulous beaches of the Caribbean, both Europeans and North Americans attracted by what the world began to know as the Switzerland of Central America: Costa Rica. Until recently Puerto Viejo has been basically this undiscovered jewel in Costa Rica that has attracted mainly a backpacker and surf crowd.
