ABOUT THE SURF CAMP

West Sumbawa is home to some amazing hidden gems. Still quite unknown from the masses, you’ll find here plenty of options for intermediate to advance and expert surfers. You’ll find the Hook and the Wedge on Yoyo’s beach a couple of steps away from Baha Baha Villas. Beautiful rights, those spots are swell magnets where there’s basically always a wave. However, once the swells picks up a bit you quickly get barreling sections and nice walls to plant your rail and do some big turns. A short scooter ride away, you’ll find Tropical, fun open left that gets the goofy footers frothing all day. As well as, SuperSuck. This wave only really work with very big swell with the right direction. It gets all the barrel chaser up at night and lots of surfers come in the dry season just for it. The most adventurous will be riding a bit further away for more waves, Scar Reef, Little bingin, Phantom, Donut, Dirty hippie, Limestone and more. Best to go with a car and one of our surfguide as they can be very weather dependant

A bit of history - the shape of dreams:
After living and working around Berawa Bali Sean set off to explore parts of Bali he'd not yet seen. He and a mate loaded up their bikes with the essentials - surfboards and a backpack - and with a compass and a 'mud map' they set off to discover some untouched Balinese magic. A few days of exploring brought them to the most beautiful place they had ever seen: West Sumbawa - a happy cultural town; with a jungle full of wildlife, and a magnificent coastline of perfect waves and deserted beaches. That was May 2007 and the most perfect holiday ever. In 2008 Sean wanted to recapture the magic of Sumbawa; excited to reconnect to this special place again. With a simple "Mate I just have to show you this place" I was hooked and I set off with Dean to find this often talked-about place. A few stop starts, a lot of wrong turns and two epic ferry crossings and we made it back. Back then, the only accommodation was a place on the beach serviced by three staff one of them beingBotok. Botok, in our eyes, was living the dream: spending his days simply - fishing the oceans, hunting the jungles and enjoying life. Little did we know it then but Botok would be integral to our dream of buying our own small piece of paradise. We both decided then and there that this place was perfect for our surf retreat and set about looking for land here. It took another five years for our ideas to come together. In 2013 we returned to West Sumbawa and met Baha. Baha mentioned that he wished to sell his business of prawn farming and half his land. Baha's beach front over looked Yoyos surf break and is in close proximity to other world-renowned surf breaks including Super Suck and Scar Reef. There at the river mouth one could choose the beautiful swimming beach to the left, or a perfect right-hander to the right. The sale of the land was negotiated and we had our own piece of this idyllic paradise.

Pool Side Bungalows
Baha Baha’s Pool-side private rooms are spread out around the property offering spectacular mountain range views just a short 100 metres stroll to the famous Yoyo beach. This room is ideal for a couples getaway. It includes, indoor-outdoor bathrooms with standing rock shower, hot and cold water, private balcony, Wi-Fi, Satellite T.V, AC, ceiling fan and mosquito net.


Deluxe Pool Side Bungalow
Baha Baha’s Pool-side private rooms are spread out around the property offering spectacular mountain range views just a short 100 metre stroll to the famous Yoyo beach. This room is ideal for a couples getaway. It includes, indoor-outdoor bathrooms with Bathtub, standing rock shower, hot and cold water, private balcony, Wi-Fi and T.V, Air conditioning, Ceiling fan and mosquito net.


Sunset View
Our Sunset View Suites are ideal for a couples getaway. Located on the second level of Baha Baha Villa's main building overlooking the river, mountain ranges and “Yoyo’s” surf break. Offering great views and daily sunsets. Watch the sun rise from the back verandah and the sun set from the front verandah.


Sunset View Deluxe
Our Sunset View Deluxe Suites are ideal for a couples getaway. A wonderfully decorated room with a generous size bathroom. Slab timber table and bench seats on the balcony to enjoy meals and chats with those you choose to. Located on the second level of Baha Baha Villa's side building overlooking the river, mountain ranges and “Yoyo’s” surf break. Magnificent sunsets more often than not.


Garden View 2 Bedroom Family
Baha Baha’s Garden View 2 Bedroom Family private rooms are located side by side on the lower level of the building nearby all facilities that this gorgeous property has to offer. Spectacular mountain range views just a short 100 metre stroll to the famous Yoyos Beach. These 2 bedrooms with shared living space are ideal for families or groups wishing to stay in close proximity to one another. It includes, boutique indoor bathrooms, shower, hot and cold water, private balcony, Wi-Fi, Satellite T.V, AC, L-shaped couch and ceiling fans.


Private Villa
Baha Baha’s Private Villa is located within the grounds of the property. The Villa is fully equipped with a kitchen and living area downstairs. Kitchenette and living area upstairs. The villa also possesses a glistening 8m x 4m pool accessible from the master bedroom, manicured lawns, colourful garden and billiard table. The Villa offers spectacular mountain views down the valley, watch the moon rise and the sun fall from anywhere on the property. Just a short 100 metre stroll to the famous Yoyos Beach. This Villa is ideal for a family or group getaway. It includes, boutique indoor bathrooms and a stunning outdoor bathroom with a bathtub, hot and cold water, private balcony, Wi-Fi, satellite T.V, AC, ceiling fan and courtyard.

Yoga
Our Yoga shala provides a peaceful and tranquil space for your Yoga and meditation practice. Mats and props provided for your convenience. We offer free Yoga to all our guests, outside guests price is 150K (upon avialability).

Snorkeling
Home to various species of sea life, Lawar Bay, less than five minutes drive provides some of the islands best swimming, snorkeling and diving. Take a guide with you, otherwise explore the island at your own leisure.


Hikes & Waterfalls
The island of Sumbawa is the perfect place for hiking. Spend the morning or afternoon exploring the coastline or breathtaking lighthouse views, the hinterland or rejuvenating waterfall swims. Go alone or with a guide.


Golf

Our local guide knows the waters around the area extremely well, diving these waters for the past 20 years. We’ll organise all of your fishingor spear fishing needs, be it a half or full day experience. Upon your return our chefs will transform your catch for you into a delicious meal.

Below are travel options we use and suggest from Denpasar Airport, Bali, many people having issues booking these airlines with non-Indonesian bank cards. Travel times and organization are complicated in Indonesia this is why we suggest for our team to book the transfer from Bali to Baha Baha Villas so there are no issues with payments and travel arrangementsOur transfer fee includes flights + drivers + boat tickets - from $205 USD (*price does not include 11% tax.)

OPTION 1
BALI TO SUMBAWA BESAR AIRPORT ROUTE
There is 1 flight from Denpasar Airport, Bali to Sumbawa Besar Airport, Sumbawa. We do not recommend this route as, eventho it is usually the fastest route to Baha Baha Villas, the airline introduced August 1st 2023 a new rule for surfboards. They now charge 1.000.000rp ($65 USD) per surfboard each way, and only allow up to 4 surfboards total for the entire flight (not per passenger). Less than a 2 hours flights, and then a 4 hours drive to the hotel.


OPTION 2
BALI TO LOMBOK AIRPORT ROUTE
Best to take the early morning flights to Lombok if you choose this route. You’ll then have a 2 hours+ drive to Kayangan Harbor. There is 2 fast ferries per day, 10am and 5pm. They will take you to Poto Tano Harbor in about 45 minutes. You’ll then have a 2 hours drive down the coast to Baha Baha Villas.
