Our B&B is the perfect location for an unforgettable surfing holiday. The Landes and neighbouring Côte Basque are considered to be the Surf Mecca of France and Europe! When perfect waves roll in, every local surfer forgets about life on land and chooses the quietude of the ocean over a stressful morning commute. To be able to have that choice is great and we’d like to share that feeling with you.

After spending hours of surfing the North Sea and traveling the world several times, I couldn’t ignore the ocean’s calling anymore. I dreamed about aligning my life with the rhythm of the waves. While traveling around the globe myself, I was always looking for cosy places at a bargain price. At this point in my life, I also want to offer my guests a home away from home.

Choosing France as my new home base was a no brainer. On the one hand this country offers multiple accessible surf beaches. On the other hand my home country Belgium and my family living there are not too far away either. I found my little paradise in Labenne. This is a quiet village in the middle of a touristic area. Besides all the surf spots, this region also offers different gastronomic experiences. Not only are there multiple beautiful cities to visit, the region also offers different activities in green surroundings. I’ve been so lucky to turn my passion into my profession. Now I can finally offer my guests a home away from home.

Surfing as a discipline has been booming since 2010. That’s why people now book a surf trip just like they do with a yearly ski trip. My team and I love to respond to this growing need. We want to offer our guests a cozy and relaxed stay with personal surfing advice. After all these years I am very grateful that I have been able to share my experiences with lots of people. I can’t wait to keep sharing my journey with everyone. It’s you and the waves that keep me going!

Private surfing courses with Coco Surfschool
Belgian surfer Annelies Debo – aka BO – worked at many French surf schools the past few years. From that experience she spawned the idea to start a small-scale surf school based on the idea: “quality before quantity“. “It may cost you a bit more”, she says, “but I’ll guarantee a quality, personal and fun lesson!”

Renting a surfboard costs 10 euro per day, or 50 euro per week.

YOGA
Surfing and Yoga are a perfect marriage. Nothing is more rewarding than a relaxing yoga session after an intense and exhausting day of surf! On top of that it will boost your surf level by improving the power, elegancy and flexibility of your movements. Even your balance and focus will be fine-tuned.

NALU MASSAGES
Time to treat yourself to a wholesome Nalu massage! Sarah can come to your place, so you can enjoy your massage in the comfort of your own room or garden.

LABENNE'S SNAKE RUN AND SKATE PARK 
There’s a small yet super fun skate park (including bowl, boxes and rails) at ‘skate-distance’ of the B&B. This year, a new snake run was added. It’s the ideal way to improve your surf skills on land, and for kids to have fun with their step, BMX or skateboard. The coming years, the skate park will be expanded even more.

HIKING AND EXPERIENCING CULTURE IN THE BASQUE COUNTRY
We are at a short distance of the foothills of the Pyrenees and we can recommend various beautiful hikes of different difficulty levels within a 100 km radius. Perfect for nature lovers who’d like to spend time in a totally different wonderful environment.

Breaks directly at the main spot and at nearby spots

The Landes is known for its powerful waves, even on a small day they can really pack a punch! Those are exactly our favorite conditions: not too big swell, but powerful nonetheless.

Seasonal conditions

France’s West coast has surf for any kind of surfer any given day of the year. With our insider information you’ll be sure to end up on the right spot for you.

Spring is an excellent period for a surf trip to the Landes. Days are getting longer and warmer, and the waves just keep rolling in with an almost mechanical perfection. On top of that, the waters are not yet too crowded!

The summertime has small to medium sized waves on offer. Perfect for beginners, but challenging enough for the more experienced surfers. No matter the swell height, the waves keep their perfect shape due to the dominant offshore winds, especially in the morning and the evening.

Rock ‘n roll: autumn is prime surf season in the Landes! A constant offshore breeze, decent sized swells and pleasant temperatures in and out of the water. Don’t forget to bring your gun!

During the winter the waves can reach giant proportions, often too big for most of the beach breaks. But no need to worry, you won’t have to wait in vain on the beach for the swell to drop in size. Close by Labenne, in Capbreton, more south on the Côte Basque and near the Spanish border, there are enough sheltered bays to find a rideable wave.

Crowd factor and local people

Unfortunately we’re not alone and it can get very crowded in the line up. Luckily the region has a lot of hidden gems and we’ll be happy to share them with you. Sometimes it means you’ll have to get up before the break of dawn but what’s better than starting the day watching the sun rise riding a wave?

Ways to get to the camp

By plane
Fly to Bordeaux with low cost airlines (Easyjet, Hop, Volotea, Ryanair, etc.) from Brussels, Amsterdam, London, Zurich, etc.
Fly to Biarritz with low cost airlines (Easyjet, Hop, Ryanair, etc.) from Brussels, Lille, Paris, etc.
We can arrange transport to and from the airport Biarritz. (Taxi: €50 / we drive: €40 one way)

By car
It’s a 10 to 12 hour drive coming from Belgium or Holland. Having your own car greatly expands the options for surfing and allow you to explore region. You can rent one if you don’t want miss anything of your surf trip.

By train
The high-speed train (TGV) stops at Bayonne railway station. From there, a 15 minute drive will take you to the door of Board ‘n Breakfast. We can arrange transport for you (taxi: €30 / we drive: €25) or for 2€ you can get a bus.

By bicycle
We rent bikes for 7€ per day or 30€ per week. Surf racks are available.

After a healthy breakfast you can take your bike with your board in the surf rack and ride through the beautiful pine forest to Annelies. She will provide a quality, customized and fun lesson. After your lesson and a well-deserved break at one of the many cosy, hip (beach)bars, you can spend the rest of the day practicing the new tricks and tips you have learned.

PRICES per person FOR 7 DAYS/NIGHTS B&B, 7 days gear (bicycle with surf rack, board & wetsuit) inclusive + 3 quality surfing lessons or coaching.
