We at Talay Surf are a family of ocean lovers & take great excitement in sharing our knowledge and experience of water craft riding with young & old and everyone else in between.
Our passion for the ocean and passion to see everyone have the same opportunities in life, has driven us to create and run a Thailand surf school that not only gets people to their feet on surfboards but also onto their feet in life.
Talay Surf is a Surf & Stand Up Paddle Board (SUP) School in Thailand that provides lessons, tours, rentals, educational surf programs as well as other beach & ocean activities and events.
Our surf school being the first of its kind on Phuket offering both Surfing & SUP has been running in the local area for over 10 years.
We partner with individuals, resorts, schools & other agencies to provide a unique & fun experience for all levels and abilities.
Talay Surf is also integrated into the local community & supports it through community development, project work, providing jobs & skilling, mentoring the youth, vocational training & education.
Your support allows us to provide opportunities for locals.
Every surf lesson, tour or rental you get gives much needed income to a local family.

ABOUT THE SURF CAMP
LOCATION AND SURF CONDITIONS
With warm tropical water and gentle fun waves, our experienced English speaking surf instructors will ensure you have an unforgettable holiday. So come and learn to surf in paradise.
We are situated on one of the most idyllic beginner waves in the world and our accommodation options are ideally situated within walking distance to the beach, restaurants and shops.

Private or Group Surf Lessons
Our experienced instructors who speak English & Thai will firstly on the sand teach you all the steps in how to paddle & catch waves on your own as well as the knowledge about your surf equipment & the Phuket wave conditions.
We teach on Bangtao beach which is sandy, shallow and safe, perfect for that first surf experience. All ages 7+ are welcome, yes that’s right, starting to learn to surf early builds confidence and strength in your kids.
Surf Lessons can be arranged anytime of day between 8am and 5pm.
KIDS EDUCATIONAL SURF CAMPS
Talay Surf educational kids surf camp is 3 fun-filled days of ocean & beach safety education activities with a focus on surfing!
Day One: 9am to 12pm
Day Two: 9am to 12pm
Day Three: 9am to 12pm
Surf Photo Service
Treat yourself to capturing those great surfing memories and hire our professional surf photographer to catch your best waves!
Group of up to 6 people = 1,000thb / group
Extra time is 500thb / hour

SURF CONDITIONS
Seasonal conditions
Ocean temperature is around 28 degrees celsius all year and has an air temperature average of 28 degrees celsius.
November to April is Phuket’s busiest tourist time & prices are generally higher. This however is the time to come if you want perfect weather everyday & flat clear aqua water, perfect for Stand Up Paddling & snorkelling (Our pick is November or December as it’s not too busy yet and cooler)
March to May are the hottest months with April 13th a good time to visit and celebrate Thai New Year, where the whole island celebrates with street water festivities.
May to October is surf season, the Island is quieter, cheaper & even though its rainy season you still get many beautiful days. Waves are not world class but great for beginners, intermediates or families.
Crowd factor and local people
Thai’s are warm & friendly, they are very respectful people so if you be polite & smile they will take care of you very well.
Remember your in Thailand be patient, English is not their language.
SURROUNDINGS / REGION
Characterization of surroundings/region
Phuket is Thailand’s largest island. It’s in the south & sits in the Andaman Sea surrounded by many other little islands. Historically it was one of the major trading routes between India & China & enjoyed a rich & colorful history with Malay, Chinese & Portuguese influences. Now it’s main business is tourism.
The island is about 50km long with 70% covered in Mountains. The east coast is not as nice to stay as the west coast where all the nice beaches & surfing are.
Old Phuket town is nice to visit with plenty of restaurants, cafe’s, shops & a feeling of culture & history.
The island has a nice mix of Western & Asian culture where you can live it up in luxury or stay simply experiencing a local’s way of life.
The south of the island is much more built up and busier than the north part.
