Great value, 2 hours in the water with fantastic instructors for a relatively low price. The instructors are really positive and excellent at explaining what to do. Summary

Bens Surf Clinic is Ireland’s original hard board surf school, with over 23 years coaching experience we run fun surf coaching sessions for all levels year round. Groups are kept small (max 8 per coach) with a focus on water time and lots and lots of tips and pointers to either start you off the right way or improve your surfing.

Based right on the seafront in Lahinch, we have a surf school, surf shop and adventure centre. We are the only surf school on the West Coast to provide their own changing facilities with lockers, hot showers and indoor coaching areas right on the surf. We have a full range of soft and hard boards for lessons and rental. Our lessons are for two hours IN THE WATER, with coaching throughout. All equipment is provided.

All our coaches are level 2/3 ISA surf coaches and Ben is one of only 3 International Surf Association Level 1 Coaches and an ISA Surf Tutor and Level 3 Coach (Surf instructor trainer).

We provide one off lessons-beginners, improvers, intermediate & advanced, weekend/week long courses and adult, kids & teen camps for all levels.

We also offer other activities such as Rock Climbing in the Burren, Kayak trips on the River Inagh, Indoor Climbing and Archery and Stand Up Paddle Boarding (SUP).

Open year round. Winter: 10am – 4pm. Summer: 9am – 9pm.

ABOUT THE SURF CAMP

LOCATION AND SURF CONDITIONS

We are located on the promenade in Lahinch, directly on the beach. We have a beach breaks and a range or reef breaks directly on our doorstep. We are also within the village which has a range of accommodation options, pubs, shops and restaurants.

CAMP CHARACTER

We offer full lessons and camps for ages 8+. We offer lessons for beginners to advance and we have a range of hard and soft boards available, as well as winter wetsuits, boots, hoods and gloves.

CAMP OPERATOR

Bens Surf Clinic is run by Ben Bennett who has over 23 years of coaching experience.

SURF COURSE AND ACTIVITIES

SURF COURSE DETAILS

Our week long surf courses run from Monday to Friday with a 2 hour surf lesson each day. All equipment is provided and cost is €150.
We also offer one off lessons for €35 and our infamous weekend clinics which consists of 4 x 2 hour lessons plus a theory session all for only €100.

SURF MATERIALS

All equipment is provided. We have a range of sort and hardboards. Students are also welcome to bring their own equipment. Rentals outside of lessons are €20 for a board and suit for 2/2.5 hour.

OTHER ACTIVITIES

We also offer Kayaking, SUP (Stand Up Paddleboarding), Outdoor Rock Climbing in the Burren, Indoor Climbing and Archery.

We have a breach break and a number of reef breaks on our doorstep.

Seasonal conditions
Summer waves and small and clean. Max water temp 15 degrees. Winter conditions can be big and powerful, min temp 8 degrees. Lahinch is tide dependent so you cannot surf the beach 2 hours either side of the high tide as sea comes all the way in onto the rocks making it dangerous for access.

Busy during the summer months but its a big beach break so plenty of room for everyone.
