ABOUT THE SURF CAMP

Our hotel is located in Himmafushi, a local island approximately 15 km to the Male’ International Airport and the capital city Male’. Staying with us, you get to experience the Maldivian culture and traditions, enjoy multiple world-class surf breaks, and enjoy fishing and snorkeling around the diverse reefs around our island. North Male features some of the best and most consistent waves in all of the Maldives.
We have waves of all experiences, shapes and sizes within 15 minutes of our guesthouse.

ACCOMMODATION AND CATERING

Our hotel is a converted typical Maldivian home with a simplistic look. We have a spacious lounge area fitted with cable TV - perfect for your group of friends to relax. Our fully equipped kitchen is free to use anytime if you want to cook up something.
Our rooms are air-conditioned with en-suite bathrooms, fully fitted with hot and cold water. Linen and towels are provided.

We have our own kitchen and can provide breakfast, lunch, and dinner depending on your booking situation.

SURF COURSE AND ACTIVITIES

We have a boat running to the surf breaks twice a day.
If you've bought a package with 1/2 boat trips you do not have to pay.  Otherwise, it's $10 per trip for Jailbreaks, Honky's or Sultans and $20 to Ninjas, Cokes or Chickens.
For each daily trip to Jails/Honkys/Sultans, the majority rules with all the guests voting for which break you surf that session.

Jails - Beginner-Advanced
Jails is a perfect right hander with three sections. Best for intermediate to advanced surfers. On a good swell you can ride long walls and tube sections.

Honkys - Intermediate-Advanced
The first peak is mellow, the second peak attaining a height almost double the first giving a long perfect ride.

Sultans - Intermediate-Advanced
Sultans is a fast (right hander) wave creating two sections, the first peak mellow leading to the second. Both are perfect barrels giving a ride of around 200 metres.

Cokes - Advanced
Cokes is a hollow and tubular right-hander that breaks over a shallow reef and is known as one of the best waves in the Maldives.

Seasonal conditions

The best time for Maldives surfing is from March until the end of October. The biggest waves are likely to occur in June, July and August. During this period, the wind is mainly offshore all day long. The Maldives is exposed to the same swells as Indonesia

Ways to get to the camp

There are 4 options to get to Jail Break Surf Inn (on Himmafushi).

Public Ferry
The public ferry leaves every day, except Friday, from Male at 15:00 at Jetty #1.  It takes about 1 hour and costs 2 USD each way.

Private Speed Boat
The speed boat takes 20 minutes from the airport and costs 100 USD for the boat (everyone on the boat can split the cost).  You can arrange the speed boat anytime upon arrival with up to 5 people including luggage.

Private Dhoni (traditional Maldivian boat)
You can arrange a private Dhoni which will take about 1 hour from the airport and will cost 100 USD for the boat (everyone on the boat can split the cost). You can arrange the speed boat anytime upon arrival.

Public Speed Boat
The public speed boat costs 10 USD each way and departs from Male in front of the Bank of Maldives main branch.  It leaves 3 times per day but you should request us to book it for you 1 day in advance because it can fill up and times are constantly changing.

Important details

Upon arrival, you will get a regular tourist visa valid for 30 days. If you would like to stay longer with us, we can help you with the extension of your visa for up to 90 days total stay - but it has to be done BEFORE your arrival.
