ABOUT THE SURF CAMP

LOCATION AND SURF CONDITIONS

---

We are directly on the Beach and just 10 minutes south of Krui town. Behind us the virgin rain forest rises into the foothills of the Bukit Barasan range with active volcanoes, waterfalls lakes and hot springs with Tigers freely roaming. All along the coast are world class beach and reef breaks most suitable for intermediate advanced and expert surfers and body boarders. These waves really fire between June and October when the Offshore trade winds kick in producing head to double head high waves. A short boat ride across the bay is Banana island which offers a good surf break and great snorkeling.

CAMP CHARACTER

At Kambuna all are welcome however due to remote location and challenging breaks the camp is best suited to 18 and over age groups. The camp has no neighbors so you can party hard if you desire or light up the BBQ and kick back with a few cold beers.
There is always a security guard on camp 24 hours to ensure your safety.

Kambuna is a family run camp and we have been here over 10 years enjoying the Surf and the nature around us. We came here with just a tent and hammock but gradually built up the bungalows and Love to share our paradise with our guests.

ACCOMMODATION AND CATERING

ACCOMMODATION TYPES

---

Accommodation consists of 4 bungalows set in a large garden on the beachside.
All bungalows have AC and balcony with sea view and a suite bathroom:
Bungalow 1  sleeps 2 in a double bed
Bungalow 2 sleeps 2 in 2 twin beds
Bungalow 3 sleeps 4 in 1 double and 2 Single beds
Bungalow 4 sleeps 4 in  1 double and 2 single beds

Bed linen, towels, pillows, soap and toilet paper are provided in all bungalows and electric charging points.

CATERING

There are 3 catering options

Self Catering: We have a fully equipped kitchen with fridge, oven, hobs etc and all pans, plates, cutlery etc. There are shops and markets nearby where fresh food may be purchased and fish can be bought straight off the boats. We have a bbq area and bar.

Bed and Breakfast: Start the day with a Nasi Goring or fried noodles, fresh fruit and steaming local Lampung coffee prepared by our Chef.

Half board.: Breakfast and an evening meal which may be fresh fish or delicious chicken from the market prepared in an exotic Indonesian recipe. Vegetarian options on request.

All the options include drinking water and Tea and coffee available 24 hours.

In the nearby Krui village is a Surf shop that rents boards and repairs Dings.

OTHER ACTIVITIES

Hiking trips to waterfalls or Volcanoes can be arranged at a cost of 15 Euro per person.
Boat trips to Bannana island can be arranged at a cost of 20 Euro per person.
Bicycle rental at 5 Euro per half day.
Snorkelling of the beach on the reef equipment rental 5 Euro per half day.

SURF CONDITIONS

Breaks directly at the main spot and at nearby spots

Our Wave just offshore is the "Peak". A Barrelling A frame reef break can be double head high.

Seasonal conditions

The season runs from April to October when the offshore Trades blow. The Waves are very consistent at this time.

Crowd factor and local people

Line up averages 0 to 10 people. A few friendly locals are out there mainly at the weekends.

SURROUNDINGS / REGION

---

Characterization of surroundings/region

The population of Lampung is a mix of Javanese, Sundanese and local Sumatrans who are mostly Muslim. The people are fairly open minded and alcohol is permitted.
The locals are very friendly towards visitors without the pushy selling and hassle you might find in other busier places. 

The Krui area is remote being 5 and half hours from the nearest City but the is a 24 hour clinic in the town. It is advised to have the required immunisations and Malaria prevention medication.

It is cheap to eat out in Indonesia ..a meal might cost just 2 euros and a large beer is about 2 Euros.

Activities and facilities

Krui is not really a party town but has a lively night market with delicious local cuisine. Most surfers enjoy a few beers and a bbq back at the camp.

Ways to get to the camp

The nearest airport is BandarLampung. From the airport it is a 5 and half hour drive. We can arrange airport transfer at around 80 Euro per car each way. 4 person per car.

Important details

There is local transport e.g. buses however we do not recommend them as they are crowded and slow and often break down. Please check your visa requirements.

This package includes: 

Accommodation and use of kitchen and laundry, drinking water, tea and coffee.
This package is for a minimum of 10 people and they have exclusive use of the entire camp.
Price includes gas and electricity.

Bed and Breakfast

This package includes:

Breakfast every day and drinking water coffee and Tea.
Sample breakfast : Nasi Goring (fried rice with fried egg), fresh fruits or toast and omelette and Avocado.

This package includes:

Breakfast and Dinner

Breakfast as above plus a delicious evening meal which might be fresh fish or chicken prepared in a local style ,served with vegetables from the local mountains and rice noodles or potato followed by fresh fruits. Drinking water, tea and coffee included.
