We had a fantastic stay at the LUHU Surf Camp What we especially liked was the family-like atmosphere (we had breakfast together) and the cozyness auf the small. The team was so friendly and welcoming, surf house and the surf school is are well equipped, clean and stylish, Luis and Hugo are such nice guys and really good surf teachers, we have been to another camp the week before in Ericeira and so we can say that the boys from the LUHU camp could teach us even better and helped us a lot to improve our skills. If you plan to learn surfing or improve your existing skills and to have a chilled stay near Porto, LUHU Surf Camp should be your first choice!

greatest surfspots! Here you experience the greatest surfspots, restaurants and bars of the entire region! The instructors are some of the most wonderful, encouraging, supportive, and helpful people I have ever met. They are great teachers and awesome to hang out with. It is the ultimate surf experience for beginners and people who are looking for a more advanced level.

Summary
Northern Portugal is a great location for a unique surfing experience and a perfect holiday away from the surf tourism crowd like in other parts and cities of Portugal.
The LUHU Surf Co is located right in front of the beach in the fisher Village of Apúlia, in the North of Portugal and only 30 minutes from Oporto. We are also in the North Coast Natural Park that stretches over 16 km of beautiful coast with plenty of surf spots with exceptional waves.
The traditional and cosy house is surrounded by a calm and green garden and only in 1min walk to the beach of Apúlia a surf spot with multiple picks.
Featured with all the basic amenities you may need is the perfect spot in North of Portugal if you’re looking a perfect balance of peaceful relaxation, nature and fun.
The Surf Camp offers surf lessons for beginners, intermediate and advanced surfers with a maximum of 6 students per instructor. For surfers, who prefer to surf independently, accommodation only option is available. Put your wetsuit on and jump right into the ocean!

ABOUT THE SURF CAMP
LOCATION AND SURF CONDITIONS
The surf camp is right in front of one surf spot, a beach break with multiple picks, if you walk a few minutes to south you have a extensive sandy beach very consistent in the summer days and with lot of empty picks for surfing.
CAMP CHARACTER
Our surf camp is located in a very calm and relax area, so you can chill, listen music, watch surf movies, read a book, practice some yoga, our get some sun baths in the big and green garden. The main language in the camp is English, but we have people from everywhere.
CAMP OPERATOR
The camp is owner and managed by to local friends, Luís and Hugo. After having spent many years travelling together in search of the perfect swell and wind conditions for each beach in the area and working in surf schools and surf camps they decide to open the Luhu Surf Co to share the deep knowledge about the region and the surf to the people.
ACCOMMODATION AND CATERING

The capacity of the surf house is 10 guests with two double rooms and one shared room for six persons.
The house is traditional and cosy next to the dunes, surrounded by a calm and green beautiful garden.
We have a self catering fully equipped kitchen, Free internet, Wi-fi Tv Free parking Free bath towels

SURF COURSE AND ACTIVITIES
SURF COURSE DETAILS
The surf lessons normally are; in the morning, in front of the house (1 min walk), with a 1:6 ratio student surf instructor, a 3hours duration, in Portuguese or English and are made for beginner & intermediate surfers, ages 5 & up.
The main spot is right in front of the camp, but is also a mobile surf school that will bring you surfing at the beach with best surf conditions, depending on the seasons, surf forecast, and level or objectives of our guest surfers.
Luhu Surf Co team has some of the most dedicated, passionate and qualified coaches you can find in the North Coast Natural Park. We are all certified, experienced instructors and surfers with a great knowledge of the surfing locations in this area that will help beginners build confidence and a love for the sport, while also able to help intermediate and more advanced surfers further develop their skills.
SURF MATERIALS
The material using by the students are a 4.3mm full wetsuit and soft boards with dimensions and volume adequate to the student level, fitness, height and weight. The lessons are covered by our insurance.
The rest of the day you can use all the surf gear for free surfing with out any fee!!
OTHER ACTIVITIES<
We can arrange another activities like yoga, pilates, kite course, SUP tours, kayak tours, horse riding, trips to Peneda - Gerês National Park, etc.

SURF CONDITIONS
Breaks directly at the main spot and at nearby spots
This piece of coastline is formed by extensive sandy beaches, dunes and pinewoods, with many surf spots, most of them are beach breaks and some point breaks as well as reef-breaks.
Right in front of the camp you have a beach break more protected from the swell, but half one hour walk for south you have a lot of beach breaks and reef breaks more expose to swell, perfect for surfing in summer.
Crowd factor and local people
The people from the north of Portugal are known to be very friendly and helpful.
Normally is very uncrowed in the week, in the weekend you have little more in some spots, but you can always find one empty spot.
In the south of the camp is always uncrowed because the difficult access by car.

Characterization of surroundings/region
We are very central for those who want to discover a little bit more the north of Portugal, you have beautiful citys like; Oporto, Braga, Guimarães and Viana do Castelo, between 30min/45minutes by car from the camp.
You also have Peneda-Gerês National Park one hour driving that is known to be one of the most beautiful places in Portugal when we talk about nature.
All this areas, cities and villages are also known for the great food. Most of the restaurants here continue to offer the best of the traditional Portuguese cuisine with several customary dishes of the region made of fresh fish, meat and delicious pastries – with a very friendly price!
