LOCATION AND SURF CONDITIONS

The surf house is a 10 minutes drive from the best spot for kite/windsurfing on the island. During the camp/lessons, the beach transfer is included but one can also rent a car or pick-up from us. The wind season is from April to December. Other characteristics of the spot encompass a large lagoon with flat and shallow water; different kinds and levels of waves for sufers and kiters; and constant wind conditions perfect for beginners or freestylers.

My name is Andrea. I am 35 years old and I orginally come from Italy. After traveling the world in the last 10 years to find the perfect waves and wind conditions, I am now happily settled in Mauritius since 5 years. After spotting Le Morne and all the perfect conditions it offers to practice my watersports, I decided to open first the school and afterwards the Surf house to offer others the possibility to come enjoy the lifestyle here.

Our different instructors speak :  Italian , Spanish , English , France .

Our Surf House is located in La Gaulette, the closest village to Le Morne, which is 10 mins drive from the Kite, Windsurf and Surf spots. "This solution is perfect for those who want to spend their holidays in Mauritius at an affordable price, without missing anything (not even their own privacy!)"
Our villa is composed of nine bedrooms (each with its own private bathroom) spread into five apartments, equipped with kitchens and balconies facing the sea.. you will have your privacy, but you will also have the opportunity to share common areas where you will meet new people, share experiences and spend your time eating, playing.. or simply relaxing in our large garden.

In the (hopefully rare) windless or waveless days, you will be able to enjoy the different activities available like hiking ..

SURF COURSE AND ACTIVITIES

KITE SURF COURSE DETAILS

---

First day: You will enter the world of kitesurfing one step at a time, having fun !!!  You will be introduced to the theoretical basis of kitesurfing, and you will acquire some basic practical skills. Gradually, you will learn how to safely control the sail and you will get ready for the first sea trips, which will take place in the following days.

Second day: Once you gain a proper control of the sail, the real fun begins: you get into the water!! You will start to ride by learning some body dragging techniques!!

Third day: Now we start to get serious !! You will experience the 'waterstart', which means getting on the board and ride, along with the kite. Then, you will practice more until you get to the actual independent navigation level, which may take more days, while continuing to learn the basic rules of navigation.

Kids: Access to the course for kids is reserved to age 6-14.  We will follow the structure of a basic course, with some adjustments depending on the age. Kids will have a qualified instructor and dedicated materials at their disposal, so they can have the necessary conditions to learn and have fun in complete and total safety. The presence of a parent or a guardian is required at least on the first day of the course.

The Lessons are conducted in groups of max 3 students per instructor. All the equipments are provided. Every session is max 2 - 3 hours, and the overall beginner's course is 10 hours.

KITE MATERIALS

All the materials during the lessons are provided. If you have a wetsuit of 2 or 3.2 mm and water shoes, you can bring it with you.

OTHER ACTIVITIES

---

Different activities are available on the spot such as paddle SUP, yoga lessons, massage, trekking tours to the waterfalls, mountains etc, swim with dolphins, big game fishing, boat trip and mountain bike.
Things you can rent include: surfboard, kitesurf and windsurf equipments, SUP, bike and car/pickup.

Seasonal conditions
As from April, the wind starts to blow from South East and the temperature drops a little.. but never less than 20 degrees! Beginning of October, summer kicks in and the temperature can increse up to 32 degrees in January. Wetsuit of 3.2 mm in the winter is recommended.

Characterization of surroundings/region
The Black River region, located in the South West part of the island, takes its name from a beautiful National park with amazing waterfalls and several trekking paths. whereby one can enjoy mind-blowing landscapes along the way. Port Louis, the capital, is about one hour by car or bus, depending on traffics.

Activities and facilities
Excursions, guided tours, local amenities including supermarket, shopping malls, bars, discotheques, and special events are available around the area.

Ways to get to the camp
The shuttle service from the airport to the camp costs 40/60 euro depending on how many persons and baggages, but normally this is included in the camp package .  Distance 50 km - 1 h drive.

Important details
Visa is free and available at the airport upon arrival. 
Necessary : return fly ticket and accommodation reservation.
