LOCATION AND SURF CONDITIONS

In front of our resort is what we call "Beginner Beach” and is ideal for beginners all the way up to advanced surfers.  It is a sandy bottomed beach break protected by an outside reef and an island keeping the swell a little toned down from Morrillo proper.  

Morrillo proper, a short walk down the beach, is an intermediate to advanced surf spot depending on the swell.  It can get too big there and completely close out as it is a beach break, but if that is the case, beginner beach is usually still within a comfortable size. 

The resort is located in the remote town of Morrillo, the province of Veraguas, Panama. There are few other businesses in the area. The closest town with restaurants and other places to see is Torio.

The resort is located on the water with easy access to surfing of all levels and beaches nestled among the mountains, rivers, quaint towns, and beautiful Panamanian people of the Azuero Peninsula.  

The vision of our eco resort is to host travelers in a place where they can experience the natural beauty of the area that provides adventure, exploration, and cultural experiences.  It is a place where travelers can push the limits of their comfort on adventures or simply take in the natural surrounding beauty in a relaxing setting where everything you need is available to you.

We started this dream of building a hotel and adventure guiding business in a Latin American country in 2002. But prior to that, we began our life together living in the mountains of Colorado, in different amazing jobs at ski areas, in the small ski towns, playing in the rivers and mountains while also building our own self sustainable home at 10,000ft high in the San Juan Mountains. 
Between the ski seasons, we traveled to several countries of Latin America to play and explore, always knowing that one day we would live somewhere and build a small eco resort. We finally found that place in Panama. A property on the ocean, surrounded by mountains, rich with culture, and the happiest people on the planet, turned out to be what we considered the perfect recipe. So, we got busy immediately with our plans to bring it to life one day.  
Now, we are open and beyond thrilled to be able to share this amazing place with our families, our friends, and the world. Our dream is a place where one can push the envelope of adventure and excitement through our guided activities, learn more about the culture of Panama, eat delicious food, and relax as much as one needs while on vacation. We are so excited to share our world with you. 
Our logo is a way to share our journey along the way together that brought us to Panama and to the Morrillo Beach Eco Resort. All of our experiences have given us the abilities we now need to create an authentic and exciting experience where we can pass on the stoke that we have with our guests.

Peacefully perched on a hill beneath the jungle canopy surrounded by lush gardens and incredible wildlife. Each room has it's own private viewing balcony that feels like you are in your own tree house with picturesque views of the ocean, estuary, and the lush surrounding jungle. 

Every room has unique Mexican artistic accents, custom wall murals, fine details for comfort. Enjoy a refreshing shower with hot water, and sleep tight in the orthopedic beds with air-conditioning.

A short walk through the lush gardens gets you to the lounge area with Wi-Fi, a bar and restaurant, books, games, and a great place to chill and watch the monkeys.

Through fresh and locally sourced ingredients, it is Morrillo Beach Resort's passion and dream come true to serve healthy meals to guests. These are made from scratch and are perfectly paired with home-brewed beers and hard cider, local artisan beers, and paradise cocktails made from freshly squeezed fruits. 

Because Morrillo Beach Resort is an intimate Eco Resort, it is their passion to make guests happy. They will do their very best to meet guests dietary preferences. Vegan and vegetarian options are available as well. You will be served breakfast, lunch, and dinner at the resort. Their meals are fresh, delicious, local, and plentiful. You will not go hungry. Non-Alcoholic drinks are also included.

Morrillo is known as having the most consistent surf in Panama, but if the swell is too big, there are other options close by. In front of the resort is what we call the "beginner beach" and it is ideal for beginners to advanced surfers.
It is a sandy bottomed beach break protected by an outer reef and an island keeping the swell toned down from "Morrillo Proper". If you are in search of advanced to expert surf, just a short walk down the beach, you will be sure to find big, steep waves with barrels to protect you from sunburns!
When you have time between surf sessions, this all-inclusive surf package includes a hike to paradise waterfalls, and an authentic cultural experience with a Panamanian family. From pick-up to drop-off at the airport, then the waves to the mountains, this holiday package is easy, exciting, and you won't want to leave.

SURF MATERIALS

---

The boards we have available are all brand new and in perfect condition. We use soft boards by GSI:

The Gnaraloo Fatty are especially designed for surf schools and first timers as they are extra thick, wide, stable and they have a handle in the middle so that the kids can carry them too.

The Fatty has a special rocker profile (the curve of the board) that was designed to help new surfers learn to surf faster and have more fun sooner. The boards paddle easily and quickly due to their higher buoyancy and the bottom contours making it easy to catch waves. The wide tail and nose area make the boards very stable under unsure feet inspiring confidence and success.

Gnaraloo is a safe and fun way to get started surfing and learn quickly and safely.

All sizes come with a built in carry handle.

This 8 day package is $1,530 per person (based on double occupancy) includes:

4 surf lessons

Pick-up and Drop-off at Tocument Int'l Airport

Round-trip transportation from Panama City Hotel to our resort. 

2 nights stay in the city: 1 arrival and 1 departure night

5 night stay in our comfortable hotel 

Meals Included: breakfast, lunch, and dinner at the resort

Unlimited use of surf boards, standup paddle boards, and kayaks included

Adventures included: half a day waterfall hike, Panamanian Home Tour

Kids programs: shell painting, jewelry making, treasure hunting, game playing

Morrillo Beach Resort plans their days around the swells and the tides to get a two-hour surf session and sometimes you may get two sessions in per day (if you have the energy). Essentially here is the daily plan:

*07:00 Incredible coffee available

*08:00 Breakfast

*Surf for two hours depending on the time of the tides 

*Mid-day Lunch

*18:30 Dinner

Also, on certain days of the week, these activities will also take place:

*09:00 -12:00 Waterfall hike during one day to swim, jump, climb, and explore 5 waterfalls and more depending on the time of year

*08:00 - 16:00 All-day hike to Panamanian Home hike in the mountains to an authentic Panamanian home to experience their way of life, jump off waterfalls, prepare a huge lunch, and nap in a hammock
