Summary
Oporto Surf Camp is a warm, friendly and cosy place where you can chill, enjoy nice party’s and become friends with guests from all over the world. Our passionate team is always around to help out and loves to show you our beautiful empty beaches, uncrowded surf spots and stunning waves to catch.
We are located in a traditional fishing village called Esmoriz surrounded by the wild and beautiful beaches of Maceda Natural Park and many surf spots. The charming city Oporto is just a 30 minute train ride from Esmoriz train station. Having Porto so nearby gives your holiday a perfect combination between surfing, enjoying the beach and some cultural and night life.
We provide accommodation in our surf house with single- or double beds and shared rooms.
Or in typical Portuguese houses for family’s, groups or those who prefer a little more privacy.
Our surf camp package include among other things accommodation with wifi, surf lessons, use of board and wetsuit, pick up from and to the train station of Esmoriz and a city trip to the cultural city Oporto. Of course you can also book these things separate as well.

ABOUT THE SURF CAMP
LOCATION AND SURFING CONDITIONS
The Oporto Surf Lodge is situated just a few footsteps from the beach in Cortegaca. Our option for our guests that wants a bit more comfort, own bathrooms, perfect waves on walking distance and seaview from the Lodge. A place where you can surf as much as possible, enjoy yoga classes, film nights, great dining and wine tasting, bbq’s, sunset drinks together with the other guests at the pier. A place where you will get the best out of your surf holiday.
CLIMATE
The north of Portugal is located along the Atlantic ocean and therefore has a sea climate with mild winters (16 C) and warm summers (27C) with a nice seabreeze. The water temperature varies between 15 C and 20 C.
ACCOMMODATION AND CATERING
ACCOMODATION
The Oporto Surf Lodge offers three possibilities of accommodation.
The ground floor has 2 double bedrooms with each their own luxury bathroom, a fully equipped kitchen and the reception.
The upper floor ‘ the Chalet’ is a beautiful house made of wood which has 2 double bedrooms with 2 luxury bathrooms as well as the possibitliy to make an extra bed of the couch. (1,40 x 2,00, high standard sleeping couch) Max 6 people.
The studio, situated in the garden, has space for two persons. It has a little kitchen and nice bathroom and it’s own terrace.
The Oporto Surf Lodge is made with high standards, we can promise you that you will love the mattresses and will get the best sleep possible.
If you are with a big group of friends and want to rent the whole Lodge please inform for the prices.
In total it can fit 12 pax.

You have a fully equipped kitchen at your disposal.
SURF COURSE AND ACTIVITIES
THE SURF
We don’t need to walk or drive far to surf amazing waves. Esmoriz is surrounded by many different uncrowded surf spots
All the surf spots are beach breaks with nice white sandy beaches. We have spots for all levels, from mellow waves till tube rides.
The beaches are divided by jetties. Therefor we always have protection from the wind. It’s really perfect to learn for beginners as well as intermediate and advanced surfers to set their surfing to a new level.
Portugal’s North-West coast has a consistent swell all year round. This in combination with many uncrowded and untouched spots makes this the perfect place to surf!
THE SURF SCHOOL
We offer surf lessons for all ages. We provide lessons for beginners as well as for the more experienced surfers and advanced surfers. Our passion is to help you improve your surfing skills and knowledge of the ocean and to show you it’s lifestyle.
All our instructors have the required credentials (achieved by the Portuguese surf federation and the ASI) and a wide knowledge and experience in surfing on educational level as well as in competing. With over 20 years of experience, our instructors will advice, help and teach you according to your needs and level and keeping the safety high.
OTHER ACTIVITIES
Besides surfing we also offer lot’s of other stuff to do. For example a wake surf experience at the Douro river , a SUP tour in the Ria or yoga lessons. But also relaxing massage for all your (surf)muscles.
There are bicycles for rent, imported from holland, we offer you a nice mix between a beach cruiser and a decent bike. You can now bike between Gaia (south Porto) and Furadouro on beautiful wooden cycling paths.

HOW WE WORK
After the breakfast we will pack our surf mobiles and look for the best surf spot of the day. Sometimes it’s our home beach and we can walk there but we also like to show our guests other surf spots so you get to see more of the surroundings as well and learn how to read the waves and how to decide if it’s good for you to surf. Surfing is not just a sport, it’s more than that, before you realize you also learn a lot about nature, about low and high pressure, wave periods, currents and wind conditions.
Before you know it’s the ocean that will start planning your day.
When everyone is tired after the first session we like to take everyone for lunch to typical lunch restaurants where you can have a complete meal with drinks for about 6 euro. After the lunch a little siesta and then we check the waves again for the ones that still have power in their arms.
SURROUNDINGS / REGION
Oporto Surf Samp is located in a picturesque and traditional fisherman’s village, Praia de Esmoriz.
Everything you need for your holiday is on walking distance. (ATM, pharmacy, some shops, supermarket)
The marvelous bakeries, famous around our returning guests, restaurants to try out every night something different like traditional Portuguese plates, Brazilian rodizio, Italian food, tapas, fresh fish dishes or the famous take away chicken ‘Frango Piri Piri’. And of course some nice bars to enjoy a Super Bock beer.
GETTING THERE
The airport of Oporto (OPO - Sa Carneiro Aeroporto) is the nearbiest airport. This airport is only a 40 minutes drive from Oporto Surf Camp.
You can also fly to Lisbon airport. There is a good high speed train connection from Lisbon Oriente train station to Esmoriz. There is one stopover and takes about 2h50m.
We can pick you up from the train station of Esmoriz for free. Please inform us about the estimated time a day before so we can make sure one of us is there to pick you up.
