ABOUT THE SURF CAMP

The Valhalla Surf Camp Villa is located in Tamri 56 kms north of Agadir at the atlantic coast. It is situated on a mountain not far from the beach and has a view over the banana fields and beautiful mountains. It is also only ten minutes away from the stunning Sand Dunes "Timlalin", where the endless sand meets the ocean. The famous surf spot Tamri is in the same village and it only takes five minutes to reach it with the car. The surf spots will be chosen depending on the conditions of the waves and can all be reached within thirty minutes with the car. Popular spots close by are Imsouane, Taghazout and Boilers. The waves and conditions change within the year, but spots for beginners can be found all year long.

The Valhalla Surf Camp is welcoming all age groups and is family friendly. Also groups of friends/family or companies are welcome. Once you arrive to the camp its like you are part of a big family that loves the relaxed surfing lifestyle. It´s the perfect place for you if you love to meet new people and cultures.  The main language used in the camp is english.

The owners of the Valhalla Surf Camp are Hassan, Mustapha and Brahim. We have been friends our whole lives and spent most of our childhood together in the nature and at the beach surfing, swimming or diving. We always had this passion for the surfing lifestyle and wanted to share it with others and show people our way of growing up near the beach and ocean. So we ended up building the Valhalla Surf Camp Villa to let others be part of this lifestyle and share our love for surfing and the water.

ACCOMMODATION AND CATERING

The Valhalla Surfcamp is a beautiful and modern moroccan villa located in Tamri. It´s close to the beach and the mountains. From the rooftop terrace you can overview the banana fields and can see the ocean.

There are four double bedrooms and two shared rooms with eight beds. The three shared bathrooms are spread over the three floors, each having a shower, toilet and sink.
On top of that inside the villa you can find an open and spacious kitchen. There is a big living room and another chilling area both equipped with sofas and TVs. In the living room there is also a music system installed.

WiFi is available in our Surf Camp, as well as bed linen, towels for showers and a hair dryer. This accommadition allows smoking only outside of the building, for example on the rooftop terrace or the garden.

The Valhalla Surfcamp offers you full pension in its packages.

Breakfast will be eaten in the villa before heading to the surf spot of the day. Depending on the chosen surf spot and how close it is to the accommodation there will be a packed lunch at the beach or you will have your meal in the Surf Camp. Dinner also takes place in the Villa. There is the possibility to eat the meals on the rooftop while overlooking the mountains and banana fields.
Vegetarian food is available oon request.

There is a restaurant near the Surf Camp, around five to ten minutes walking distance, the prices are fair and they offer biological food. Around the same amount of time is necessary to reach some small shops. Walking distance to the main market, the souk, where you can find fruits, vegetables, atm and everything else you could possibly need is around twenty to thirty minutes.

SURF COURSE AND ACTIVITIES

The size of the group depends on the amount of guests at the camp. One surf instructor takes care of six to eight course participants.

The surfing lessons begins in the mornings after breakfast and the transfer to the spot of the day. One lesson is two hours long, after that you will have free time in the water with the board to practice by yourself and get used to being in the ocean and on the board. Lunch is either back in the camp or at the beach depending on the location of the spot.

The lessons are suitable for beginners. There is surf guiding available for surfers with an advanced level. The course language is english. The participation in the surf lessons is only available with the whole package inlcuding the accommodation.

The boards used for the courses are high quality long boards for beginners or fiberglass short boards for more advanced participants. Wetsuits and leashes are also provided by the camp. Directly after the lesson there is freetime in the water with the boards, but it is also possible to head out to the ocean again later during the day with the boards without having to pay a fee. Towels and sunscreen have to be brought by the surfers themselves.

In the surf package there is one activity included for free. The excursion depends on the time of the year and weather conditions, possibilities are visiting the Sand Dunes or Secret Paradise for example. Other activites are possible to be bought extra. Popular tours are Paradise Valley, Sandboarding, visiting Essaouira or Marrakech, Quad or Buggy Tours or Horse and Camel riding. For these activites you can talk to the team in the camp. They will be happy to give you more inforamtion about them and you can book excursions there.

MORE INFO, HOW TO GET THERE & FAQ

The surf spots for beginners are located at sandy beaches. There are also spots with rocks but these are usually more adequat for advanced surfers. The distance between the camp and the different spots is between five to thirty minutes with the car, the spots will be chosen depending on the conditions of the waves.

Seasonal conditions

The water temperature in summer is around 20 degrees celsius and in winter 15 degrees celsius. The weather is all year long good and the temperature is between 20 to 28 degrees celsius. In summer the waves are around 50cm to 1m and perfect for beginners and in winter they can reach up to 4 meters. But there are always spots with good conditions for beginners.

Crowd factor and local people

Most spots are not really crowded, but in the main season it gets fuller than in the off season. Local habits are friendly and have no problem with sharing the waves in general.

The owners are happy to share with you more about the culture and life in a moroccan village. It is helpful to speak french, but even with english there is always a way to communicate. The locals are very friendly and always try to help you and will always find a soultion to overcome language barriers.

The currency is the Moroccan Dirham and there is an ATM available in the village. The cost of living compared to western Europe is way less especially for food.

It is recommended to have a travel insurance.

Activities and facilities

As the camp is located in a village most actvities available are in the nature. There are great possibilities for long beach walks. Next to the excursion which is included for free in the package, there is the possibility to book extra activites and tours in the Valhalla Surf Camp. In the village itself a market, the souk, can be found where all kind of shops are, as well as some small cafés. 

Ways to get to the camp

Transfer from and to the airports of Agadir and Essaouira are included in the surfing package. It is also possible to fly to Marrakech and take a public bus from there to Agadir and you will be picked up from the station. It takes around 1,5 hours from the camp to the mentioned airports.

Important details

The bus from Tamri to Agadir costs 1 euro and a shared taxi for the same distance 3 euros. The bus needs approximately 1,5 hours and the taxi is faster. The bus leaves every hour and a shared taxi once it is full. It is also possible to take a private taxi but the price is between 20 to 30 euros.
