ABOUT THE SURF CAMP

LOCATION AND SURF CONDITIONS

Our Surf Villa is located in Corralejo which is north of Fuerteventura. The north coast is packed with many different reef breaks suitable for all standards of surfer. El Cotillo which is located on the west coast is an exposed beach break that has consistent surf and suitable for beginners upwards. Punta Elena is reef break in front of the villa and this works mainly from September – May.

CAMP CHARACTER

We welcome guests from 18+. Our camp offers a chilled out vibe, it is very spacious so guests can enjoy their own space also.

CAMP OPERATOR

Nathan has been introducing people to Surfing, for the past 10 years. He has worked all over the world, but after a holiday in Fuerteventura he decided to stay as the conditions were perfect for year round surfing!

Nathan brings with him Surfing and coaching experience from: Australia, Morocco, Caribbean, Egypt, Sardinia, Sri Lanka and the UK.

Nathan believes that it is a privilege to teach surfing and loves nothing more than introducing people to the beautiful yet powerful ocean.

ACCOMMODATION AND CATERING

ACCOMMODATION TYPES

The Villa has 8 bedrooms. There is one bathroom between two bedrooms. All 3 double bedrooms have a balcony which look out onto the ocean so you can check the surf in the morning & listen to the sound of the waves going to sleep! We also have 5 twin rooms, 3 of which has balconys with garden and mountain views. There is two fully equipped kitchens & a large indoor dining area, Large TV room with lots of comfortable sofas with sky TV & free WIFI so you can relax in comfort. Outside opens out to a very large patio and decked area complete with sun loungers, BBQ & Bali style beds which look straight out onto the beach - There is also a large roof terrace with stunning views of Lanzarote and Los Lobos - A true Surfers Paradise!

CATERING

Our surf villa is self catering, however we provide a delisios buffet breakfast Monday – Saturday. This includes eggs, cereals, toast, fruit, yogurt, juices and tea & coffee.  

We serve breakfast at 8.30am and collect our guests at 9:00/.9:30am and head off to the beach. Our instructor will choose the best beach on the day, taking into consideration the conditions and surfing abilities. We spend three hours on the beach with some practical demonstrations and the rest of the time being spent in the water. We only teach in small groups – A maximum of 7 per instructor. This means that everyone can receive some individual tuition. We always try and stop at a local bakery on the way home for some coffee and cakes – Always goes down a treat after a great morning if surfing!

Beginners Surf Course

Surfing is a great way of staying fit, de-stressing yourself and meeting new people.
Our beginner’s courses are taught in a safe, fun and informative environment. By the end of the course you should have enough knowledge to be able to practice the skills taught at your local beach. 
You’ll be shown the basics of surfing in easy to follow step by step instruction, firstly on the beach and then in the water. Our instructors will be with you at all times, in and out of the water. 
The course also covers beach and water safety theory.

We use the ASI (Academy of Surf Instructors) coaching programme which is the world standard in surf education.

Previous experience
No previous experience is necessary, although you must be able to swim at least 50m

Course content :

Beach and water safety theory

Introduction to equipment

Surfing basics: prone surfing, paddling, standing up and introduction to turning

Basic weather and tide theory

We only teach in small groups, no more than 6 to a group, this ensures that everybody receives the correct amount of instruction, enabling you to progress as much as possible during your surf course.

Pick up and drop off from your accommodation, on the days of your surf course

All equipment: wetsuits, rash vests, boards and leashes

Improver Surf Course 

This course is designed for those who have already mastered the basics of surfing and are looking to hone their skills further. 

Our instructors will have you working on your stance, paddling technique, get you making smoother turns and introduce you to catching green waves (un-broken waves). 

Your instructor will also cover more in-depth theory on weather, waves and tides and the influence that they have on the surfer.

We use the ASI (Academy of Surf Instructors) coaching programme which is the world standard in surf education. 

Previous experience

Mastered the basics of surfing

Can stand up fairly consistently in white water (broken wave)

Can turn left and right on white water (broken wave)

Intermediate Surf Course 

This course is all about improving your surfing. Our instructors will work on fine tuning the skills you already have and also introduce you to new skills, so that you can take your surfing to another level!

For this course you should be able to catch and ride un-broken waves on a regular basis and be fairly comfortable going both directions. 

The course covers stance, positioning and take off, wave selection, turning, surf theory and surf fitness. 

Our instructors will be in the water with you, providing constructive feedback and coaching tips.

This course really will boost your surfing, providing you with the skills and knowledge to take away and practice at your local break.

We use the ASI (Academy of Surf Instructors) coaching programme which is the world standard in surf education.

SURF MATERIALS

We provide our guests with all their equipment. Our surf school has a wide range of soft tops and some NSP boards. We can arrange for the rental of high preformace boards with enough notice from our guests if they are required.

OTHER ACTIVITIES

We offer our guests the opportunity to take part in afternoon yoga at our villa. We believe stretching is the best way to recover after a morning of surfing – Yoga can also improve your surfing abilities, flexibility and balance.

MORE INFO, HOW TO GET THERE & FAQ

Breaks directly at the main spot and at nearby spots

Corralejo is often the starting point for a Fuerteventura surf holiday, a perfect base and close to many breaks. The main surf break in town is Rocky Point which is located right in front of our villa & Perfect for intermediates, improvers and for long boarders. Further across is Los Lobos island (uninhabited) with a World Class right hand point that runs for up to 400metres.

South of Corralejo is beginners surf beach 'Flag beach', close to the famous Dunes. Further south there are many different beaches that pick up good swell.

The North Shore is what the island is famous for and where you will find a coastline full of just about every wave imaginable. El Hierro is a great spot - with 3 different sections suitable for intermediates to experts ('The Bubble'). On the North West coast is the small village of El Cotillo, and one of the most beautiful beaches you will ever see. It is a very nice intermediate beach break and also be on the look out as it is a nudist beach in parts.

Crowd factor and local people

Fuerteventura is the friendliest island of the Canary Islands to surf on. With so many good breaks, localism is all but non-existent.

Our villa is located just a ten-minute walk from the main strip of Corralejo. Corralejo offers a holiday experience that caters for all. With its many bars and restaurants (whether it’s a romantic meal for two overlooking the marina or mojitos in the lively bars) there is something for everyone.

Activities and facilities

Corralejo boasts many bars and restaurants, clubs and traditional fiestas to keep you entertained until the small hours! There are also many different shops and boutiques for those wanting to spend a little. In Corralejo you can find everything you need from car and bike hire, volcano buggy tours, boat trips, fishing, SUP rental, jet skiing and much more!

Ways to get to the camp

Our surf villa is an about 40minutes from the airport. There is a bus service and taxis. We we also provide airport transfers for our guests for a small additional cost.

The buses run every hour from the airport to Corralejo.
