ABOUT THE SURF CAMP

Boa Vista, which is located on the eastern side of the Cape Verde Islands and is the third largest island in the group, has an area of 640km or 240 miles. With wind averaging between 15-30 knots in high season, and the many beaches around the islands picking up a variety of swells and wind directions, there’s always one spot that’s on. One beach may have two-metre waves, while the next may have none and be totally flat.

Our kitesurf courses boavista cater for everyone, from baptism (first-timers) to advanced riders, you choose the level of service you want. We can train you in kitesurfing, or wave surfing. 

ACCOMMODATION AND CATERING

The majority of the island’s accommodations are located on the West Coast near the city of Sal Rei. 1. Ca Nicola

This hotel is located near Sal Rei and the Windsurf & Kitesurf Center and overlooks the Estoril Beach, which is located just 50 meters away. The Ca Nicola can be found in a white stone building that’s been ornamented with balau and bamboo trimmings with some Italian touches to it as well. Ca Nicola apartments Boa vista has 27 apartments that were developed around two open courtyards, located between the desert and sea. Each apartment has a living room, one or two bedrooms with private baths, a fully-equipped kitchen, ceiling fans and private verandas or terrace that overlooks either the desert or ocean.

Guests can visit the breakfast room to partake in the breakfast buffet feast. Here, they can get their fill of omelets, sandwiches and bar cocktails. During the evening, they are treated to genuine Cape Verde specials the hotel chef prepares – that they can eat in the comfort of their room. Or, they can opt to eat at one of the many area restaurants.

2. Casa de Lua

BoavistaKite offers Casa da lua apartments for rent in Sal Rei. All units feature a seating and dining area. Some units include a terrace and/or balcony with sea views. There is also a kitchen, equipped with a refrigerator. There is a private bathroom with a bidet in each unit. Guests can enjoy a drink at the on-site bar. The property also offers grocery delivery. The property has a private beach area and bike hire and car hire are available. Towels are offered.

SURF COURSE AND ACTIVITIES

Flat water is perfect for learning on, because you needn’t worry about trying for waves, but only concentrate on the kite and your board and we know all the spots.

In times when bringing your own equipment with you in the plane becomes more and more difficult, our kitesurfing rental offers, provide a very attractive alternative to the hasstle of transporting your own Kitesuring gear to Boavista. This offer is for intermediate to advanced riders only, must be able to consistently stay upwind and know self rescue procedures. To hire kitesurfing equipment you must have completed a 2 or 3 day kitesurf course and be BKSA or IKO level 2 certified or able to show a competent level of skill and riding ability. You must hold your own third party liability insurance, if you do not currently have any you can join one here.

Seasonal conditions

The best time to come to Boa Vista is in the winter between November and May, with January, February and March generally seeing the most intense winds. 

Characterization of surroundings/region

The trip takes just 15 minutes on one of the few tarmac roads that the island has to offer. Those who desire a local Boa Vista experience can still in Sal Rei, but they would also miss out on the wonders of the Riu.
